The Neighborhood:
Samish Island is a quiet community of friendly neighbors who live on the island year-round. It is also an increasingly popular vacation destination. You are certain to see a mix of both islanders and visitors walking or biking on the quiet roads, enjoying the fresh sea air.

Getting Around:
Much of the island itself is best explored on foot or by bike. To get to some of the areas off the island, such as the towns of Edison and La Conner, it is easiest to travel by car, but going by bike is also possible thanks to the mostly quiet, rural roads around the island.

Other Things to Note:
Check in is at 4:00 pm and check out is at 10:00. These times are fixed. The cleaners keep a very tight schedule and make their plans around this six hour window. Out of respect to them, we cannot make exceptions to these times.

Please also note that as a small business, we are not able to grant last-minute refunds, so we highly recommend protecting your investment with travel insurance.

So why book this property?

Location. There are few better places than Samish Island, which offers a taste of San Juan living while also providing convenient access to mainland attractions, including North Cascades National Park, the Skagit Valley tulip fields, the popular locales of Edison and LaConner, some of the best bike routes, and some of the finest bird watching in the area

Layout. With five bedrooms, including two master suites with private attached bathrooms, the house this house is perfectly suited to host larger groups.

Love. My family adores this home. We have put some of our heart and soul into it. We hope it shows, from the lovingly tended gardens to the homey touches inside. We look forward to being able to share with you the joy that the house has brought us for so many happy years. We promise to do our best to make your stay here special.

Unique benefits:

When you stay with us, you will be supporting a woman-owned small business.

We are proud of our commitment to always pay cleaners and other workers a living wage.

We'd love to invite you to make use of the instant book feature. If you aren't ready to book yet, you can always bookmark this house by clicking the heart symbol in the upper right corner. Even if you don't end up staying with us, by 'hearting' the house you still help us out.

-- Feel free to reach out with any questions! If there is anything we can do to earn your business, please let us know! --

Interaction with Guests:
The house has keyless, contact-free entry. There is no need to stop and pick up a key.

We will do our best to be available at all times while guests are in the house, although both the host and co-host live in different time zones. Great house & great times!
We had a wonderful time with friends & family. The yard & hot tub were well used. The kitchen was organized, spacious, and well stocked. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and biking to the beach. Jan was communicative and check out was a breeze! Lots of good spaces within the house for finding a quiet moment or for mixing with each other.

Perfect house and amazing location!
Our group of nine had a wonderful stay at Windrush House. The house offered lots of space for our large group. The yard was incredible and the location was amazing - we walked to the beach, played basketball with the kids, enjoyed a quick drive to Edison for bread, sweet treats and pizza.

Our adult kids who live across Canada and in the US joined us at Windrush house for our family Christmas. It was wonderful to have a lovely home that was large enough and in a beautiful area; well equipped house, hot tub, and great scenery and hiking

Beautiful property perfect for our family
The house and grounds are beautiful and immaculate, tastefully decorated with quality furniture and kitchen appliances and tools, huge rooms with ample room for dining on the east side in the morning and the veranda in the afternoon sun with a view of the sea. The island’s roads are quiet making it easy to ride bikes or walk. Local small towns offer shopping and eateries. Several parks within a half hour offer swimming beaches on quiet, relatively warm lakes ideal for swimming, floating, kayaking or paddle boarding.

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
I grew up, was married, and raised my family on Samish Island. I love everything about it — the wind, the rain, the waves. I love the quiet summer, the blustery fall and winter, and the glorious spring. I am delighted to share this place with others who appreciate its beauty.

Why they chose this property

I love the quiet of the Island, far away from the busy world. This is a perfect place to go on a walk or a bike ride and to read a book.

What makes this property unique

Our house is set overlooking the sea. Padilla Bay can be seen from the front while the backyard overlooks Samish Bay. If the background is the water, the foreground for the house is a white picket fence with a profusion of dark pink June roses. The yard has endless lilac blossoms in May, followed by rhododendrons, roses, and hydrangeas that are beautiful until November. The flowers are the standout feature for this immensely comfortable home away from home.
