Biking and beach time
It was a great location. The bike trail was a big plus and so convenient. Very easy to get to restaurants. We even walked to several. Enjoyed a fire on the patio on our last evening. Everything was very pleasant.
Thanks,

Another great stay
Hi Jeanette.. once again the whole family had a great time. The house, as in the past was clean and orderly and with your responsiveness to our needs, easily accommodated all of us.
Quick access to the bike path, local beaches and village along with the facility to grill outside on the patio makes staying at your home a real pleasure. These things taken together, really serve to relieve the stress of managing the logistics of coordinating daily plans for a group of 9 (including the grandchildren). Thanks again for your hospitality, we will be in touch to schedule our stay for next year !
ps;
Jeanette, I wrote the review above 2 years ago...and all of it is still true !! . Your attention to detail and continued care of the property really sets this place apart from all others. Thanks again.

Wonderful family home!
Two families, 4 adults and 5 children, really enjoyed staying here. We had beautifully, comfortable bedrooms, an easy to use kitchen, a grill, a fire pit; what more could you want?! The house was in a great central location to restaurants, shops and beaches. The bike trail on the property was especially great, perfect for morning walks and afternoon bike rides.
The only downside to the property is the amount of traffic that is on the road in front of it. It wasn't loud, just plenty of it. There is a wonderful swimming lake in the park across the street from the property, which would be about 10 min. walk if you could cross the street. We took the long way around and drove so we wouldn't have to risk the crossing. That being said the traffic lightens considerably in the afternoons and evenings.
If I were to come to the Cape again I would definitely see if this house was available to rent.
We rented the entire property, house and cottage, for a family gathering. There were 16 in our group and all were comfortably accommodated. The rooms were more spacious than they appear on the website. The dining area and kitchen easily met our needs. The location was a plus due to its ease of going anywhere on-Cape or off-Cape. We never had to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic to/from our daily destinations. Jeanette, the property manager, was wonderful! She was very responsive to our few requests. The fact that 16 people stayed on the property and everyone was happy is a testament to the property and the management. (We are avid VRBO users and this has not always been the case.) The only reason I gave 4 stars vs. 5 is because the sofas and chairs in the sitting areas need to be replaced.. They were not comfortable and the appearance detracted from the ambiance of the home. Also there needs to be a better selection of sleeping pillows for the bedrooms. Other than those two issues I would give the property and it's management a solid 5 star rating.
We had a group of 8 and rented the main house. The location was perfect for our travels while there very centrally located. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious and loved the common areas were great. Very much enjoyed our stay and Jeanette’s response time was always immediate and accomodating. Would rent again for sure!!
Jeanette was very responsive and easy to work with during our stay. The space was big enough for a family gathering and close to plenty of things to keep us busy. My kids especially loved the playground right across the street! We’d certainly love to return and stay again!

Great house for a family reunion. Really nice property.
We found the house to be very accommodating and so too the host. Every room was spacious and each with a private bathroom. Kitchen was very easy to make family meals in. Location on the bike trail and the free bikes was a big hit as was the pond across the street for kayaking and fishing. Plenty of parking. Only issue we had was the internet was terrible. Bad connection and many of us could not connect. House has only an extender and no direct access to the router--this should be fixed. But otherwise, everything else was excellent.

Outstanding
Ten adult visitors are in agreement - The home is ideally located in Falmouth for local activities and for day travel to other Cape Cod destinations. The room layout afforded everyone privacy. The rooms are comfortable. The outdoor area is equally comfortable. Our hostess met our every need and went above and beyond the call to insure our well-being when we had an emergency. All ten visitors give the home an unequivocal thumbs up!

Great location, wonderful proprietor, beautiful property
We had 9 people (2 families of four and a single) and there was plenty of space. Being right on the bike trail was wonderful, and there were restaurants and shops in walking distance as well. Grews Pond across the street was a pleasant and quiet place for the kids to swim. The proprietor was consistently available to answer any questions, although few arose! Highly recommended.

location, location, location
There are many nice things to say about the Frederick William House, but top mention must go to its location on the bike path (bikes provided) with a lovely park (playground and fresh water swimming) right across the street. We could bike to beaches, among other attractions, and the beach parking passes were a great bonus when we drove. Jeanette is readily available and eager to accommodate. She actually ran right out to buy a shower chair for my father-in-law on our arrival! As some have mentioned, it is on quite a busy road. In the front bedrooms we could hear some traffic, but not disturbingly so; the back bedrooms were completely quiet. No issues with wifi or cell service during our stay. All in all, an excellent vacation.

Excellent Family Vacation Home
We very much enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home. We had a family vacation and this historic and updated large house accommodated our 9 family members very comfortably. The location is awesome, right on the bike path making it easy to take the bikes to downtown Falmouth, Woods Hole or to the Martha's Vineyard ferry. Jeanette, who manages the property, was super attentive to all our needs which was really nice. We would stay here again!

What a great stay!
We stayed for a week in this property. We had 6 adults (2 couples) and 6 children ranging from 3 months to 9 years old and the fit couldn't have been better. You can tell that Jeanette put a lot of thought into what they needed to put into the house to make it comfortable for any type of group and the house has almost everything you can think of to so you don't have to bring everything you own. The place is well maintained and much more kid friendly than a typical airbnb rental.
- Each bedroom has an attached bathroom so there's no long waits to get ready in the mornings
- There are additional futons and a rollaway bed for small kids to stay in the same room with parents
- The common spaces, indoor and outdoor are great for lounging with large parties
- Plenty of parking is available
- They have kids beach toys, regular toys, a pack and play, highchairs, and booster seats for kids available, as well as on site laundry
- The beach passes are a cherry on top
Slight cons that we found
- Two of the bedrooms only have a european bath setup, with a bathtub and handheld shower attachment which makes quick showers difficult
- They could use another kids bike or 2
Overall just a wonderful setup to get maximum enjoyment out of your vacation!

Blown away
We held our wedding reception at the Frederick William house, and we stayed here too. Our guests loved it, and we were blown away by how nice the house and property are! We booked the house sight unseen from across the country and were hoping that it was as nice as the pictures. It totally is - even nicer. In fact, the master suite was so upscale that we decided to stay there for our wedding night too (softest sheets I've ever slept on) instead of going off site. The property was clean and there was plenty of extra beds and room for kids and others to sleep even when the bedrooms were all full. We were a little worried about traffic noise with the property being on a main road, but it was never an issue. Super convenient location that was easy for everyone to find. Loved having all the bikes available for a group bike ride on the trail. The owner was amazing and made sure we had anything/everything we could have wanted. I couldn't be happier and we can't wait to go back and stay here again!

Surpassed expectations
Totally surpassed our expectations - and I have pretty high standards. We held our wedding reception here and stayed at the house too. Having 5 bedrooms suites was a huge deal, so that everyone staying could have their own space and not have to share bathrooms. The finishes in the home as well as the decor are beautiful, and all of our guests were blown away with how nice it was. It was an AMAZING place for a wedding reception! The owner was so helpful and provided so much assistance before and during our stay, in addition to just being a super awesome lady! Great, convenient location, really quiet, no traffic noise even though the property is on Palmer Ave. We can't wait to return and I recommend the property whole-heartedly!

Perfect home, perfectly located!
This home was beautiful and very clean. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. The bikes and the access to the bike path were wonderful. It was very close to a vibrant downtown, which we rode the bikes to. The home and town are perfectly located on the Cape with easy access to the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this home to those visiting the area. We hope to return!

Beautiful property, great location!
We had a wonderful extended family stay at the Frederick William House. The house was lovely, every room had its own bathroom and each room was beautifully decorated. The kitchen was large and well-stocked with cooking equipment. Jeanette was very helpful and pleasant. The location of this property is really a plus, the Shining Sea bike path is lovely and directly behind the house. Bikes are provided, as are linens and towels, so you just have to bring yourself!

About the host
Hosted by Jeanette Robinson /Proprietor
I grew up in Menlo Park California, my Father was a native Cape Codder and my mother was a native Californian. I suppose my mother's influence kept my Father in California, but he always entertained the notion of moving back to Falmouth. The stretch of land Frederick William House sits on has been in my family for nearly a century, strawberry fields encompassed the stretch, and the 4 houses to the left and the right all belonged to long gone relatives. One by one the cousins, aunts and uncles sold, but when I discovered that 594 Palmer belonged to me after my last living relative on Cape Cod passed away, I felt impelled to keep the last of the homes and share this magical place with you.
Why they chose this property
Frederick William House has been in my family for nearly a century. We enjoy sharing this magical spot with others. The best memories are made with family.
What makes this property unique
If you want to 'get there' Frederick William House' is located in an deal spot for the active vacationer who wants to antique downtown, bike, or take in our picturesque landscapes. Easy drives to historic points of interest, walk to breakfast across the street to enjoy the best Irish Eggs Benedict you have ever had. Location, location, location. Come visit the birthplace of 'America the Beautiful' written by Katherine Lee Bates, and visit her child hood home. Take a trolly tour, see Nobska Light House in Woods Hole, still occupied and operated by the Coast Guard Chief. Take in every season, the colors of fall, the impressive frozen ponds in winter, the yellow bursts of color in spring, and the bluest, quiet lapping waves in summer. Cook out, enjoy your family, ferry to the islands, there is so much to do and see here!
