Wonderful place to stay in a beautiful town. Ron was the perfect host and he has done a wonderful job restoring an historic building. He greeted us, showed us around, and was available if we had questions or needed suggestions. We hope to go back.

This was our second time as this beautiful location. The house is well appointed with everything that you may need. The view from the front porch was amazing. Great restaurants in the area. Very easy to get around from Pictou. Lovely stay! Thanks Ron.

This rental is in a beautiful location in Pictou. Right on the waterfront- close to restaurants, shops, museums and markets. The unit is very clean, comfortable and cozy. Loved the front deck!!

We had another great stay at Cunard House. The house has everything you would ever need. We had front row seats for some Lobster Carnival activities right on the front deck. It was nice to take our fur baby for a walk on the boardwalk every evening and enjoy some ice cream. The people in Pictou are so friendly, and there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. You couldn’t ask for better hosts than Ginny and Ron.

Cunard House is even more spacious than it appears in the photos. A beautiful, warm, well-restored home, equipped with all one needs for a pleasant stay. We especially enjoyed sitting on the front verandah with our morning coffees, the ocean in full view. Ron met us to check-in and gave us helpful information about the house and area. Very impressive what they have achieved in restoring Cunard House. We'd return in a heart beat.

Ron was so nice and met us when we got into town, very very nice guy. Things that were great for me is two ice trays in the freezer because I love my ice! And Kleenex and the laundry facilities. There was enough coffee and filters that I didn’t even have to bring any. We loved this place and can definitely recommend it!!!

A retired school principal and his teacher wife-and-former-sweetheart spent the last 8 years renovating this 1832 office building built by Samuel Cunard, the founder of Cunard Steamship Lines. Before that we worked in schools in three provinces, one territory and two countries.

Why they chose this property

One side of my family descended from Ship Hector settlers. We were looking for a retirement project in the Maritimes and this building needed some work, was located on the harbour and was empty. Kind of a no brainer!

What makes this property unique

Cunardhouse is a piece of classic Maritime architecture and turned out to be a piece of history as well. Looking onto the harbour on the second floor are three crooked windows that make it stand out in all the old photos of the waterfront. They present a unique 'face' and we think we know their story.
