River Front Log Cabin Near 1000 Islands, Adirondacks, Canada

This log cabin is named Whispering Water because of the scenic water fall views of the Oswegatchie River from the living room, master bed room and deck.

Hardwood floors throughout. Large master bedroom with queen bed and picture windows facing the river. 2 small bedrooms, each with double bed. Air conditioning both levels.

The swimming pool and deck are perched at the river's edge. The porch overlooking the pool and river is screened for sitting out at night. A 2 person hot tub on the deck is available year round.

Explore the northcountry with day trips to the Adirondacks, 1000 Islands, Ottawa or Kingston Ontario. (If you plan to go to Canada, remember your passport or enhanced driver's license.)
Or just kick back with a good book and relax to the sounds of the river.

Lakes with public boat access are located in the area. We will provide a canoe and accessories for those would like to explore local lakes and rivers. Bring your fishing poles.

Amish farms and shops are numerous in Saint Lawrence County.

If you enjoy road biking, you can ride from the cabin on miles of rural country roads that are lightly traveled. We can guide you with routes from 2 to 40+ miles that wander thru the countryside.

In addition, 4 colleges are located nearby:
25 miles to Canton (Canton College, Saint Lawrence University)
35 miles to Potsdam (Potsdam College, Clarkson University)
Staying at Whispering Water is unique way for the family to be together during visits to the colleges for graduations or special events.

It is 20 miles to Fort Drum if you are considering a visit that doubles as a vacation for the family.

The property is offered for rent all four seasons. Fall colors are brilliant with many maples trees in view. During a winter retreat the pellet stove provides penetrating warmth. Winter is a wonderful time to relax and reflect.
The cabin gives a deep woods feel while being close to a small town.

A word of caution:
Since the property is surrounded on 3 sides by rapid water and steep rock ledges that drop to the water's edge, we do not encourage visitors staying at the cabin with very young children. Close supervision near the river and at the pool is a must.

This was our second stay at whispering waters and once again did not disappoint! The cabin is remarkably clean and Jeanice has truly thought of everything! The master suite , spectacular view and hot tub were the perfect setting for a weekend away!

We absolutely fell in love with this cabin! It was the perfect retreat from the stresses of life. Ted and Jeanice are so friendly and helpful, they made it feel like home. And that view!!! We will definitely be back.

A 5 Star Hotel Experience in a Cabin!

The property is absolutely beautiful and the scenery and views are amazing. The cabin is clean, cozy and stocked with every amenity and then some. You can really tell how much love Jeanice puts into being a hostess. The bathrooms were palatial and beautifully renovated. The master bed was comfy and even the bedroom had an excellent view.

Great cabin. One of the most relaxing weekends we've had in awhile. Jeanice and Ted thought of everything, from the basket of goodies as soon as you walk in, staples in the fridge and stocked cupboards, pellet stove going and music on upon arrival, it really set the mood for the weekend. Perfect!

The owners were so accommodating, so helpful, so informative and genuinely want you to have a lovely experience at their cabin. They stocked the fridge with some staples, the home was CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and they covered all the bases. Most relaxing honeymoon ever. Ted and Jeanice treated us like old friends. Property was well kept and had all the amenities of home. All the sites were a bit of a drive, but that was part of the charm. We plan to return with our children. Lovely house, lovely owners. P.S. Stocked fridge. Classy.

Perfect getaway

We had a wonderful time at Whispering Waters. Not only is the log cabin unique and special but the hosts, Jeanice and Ted went out of their way to make our stay warm, restful, and comfortable. The pictures just don't tell the full story of how unique and beautiful this place is. Besides the natural beauty of the area and the uniqueness of the cabin, there were extra amenities throughout the cabin from music and books to snacks and essentials in the refrigerator.We couldn't have asked for more. Want a romantic, restful getaway? This is the place!

Lovely peaceful get away

I just have to say this cabin is so beautiful, CLEAN, organized and welcoming. I had such a great stay with my husband. Janice was always easy to get a hold of, super friendly and I love how neat and organized she is. The cabin has a beautiful view, right by a river. The town was small and quiet, it was a refreshing little trip for me and my husband’s honeymoon. Oh and greatly appreciated the snacks and the fridge filled with water, eggs, butter, milk and bread. It was really sweet :) Planning to come by again in the near future, it’s absolutely beautiful!

Perfect in every way. WOW, just WOW

We do not have the words to express how great everything was. The views, the rooms, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, the atmosphere, the sounds the river made. A prefect place to relax and de-stress. Jeanice and Tim thought of everything, yes everything. We have told our friends and will be planning another visit. You are close to so many things and attractions and Whispering Water is the perfect place to begin and end your day. Thanks again to Jeanice and Tim for a perfect setting for our anniversary trip. :)

Great Cabin by the River

Our visit to the "Whispering Water" cabin was beyond our expectations. The cabin was even more beautiful than the photos displayed. Everything you could ever want is in the cabin. Jeanice & Ted are generous, gracious, helpful, thoughtful hosts. The view is breath taking and will be even more spectacular during the fall foliage season. We visited Thousand Islands while we were there. You can sightsee or you can just grab a book and relax in the cabin or out on the deck with the view of the river. Our stay was one we will always remember. We will highly recommend this cabin to whoever will be going in that direction. Thank You again for everything.

Wonderful experience!

Our hosts have thought of everything! The fridge was stocked with fresh milk, eggs, bread, coffee and oj, not to mention all the basic condiments to make the perfect meal. The whole cabin was spotless, and included all the amenities from bath items to even eyeglass cleaner. Our family especially enjoyed the welcome basket full of snacks! The home is stocked with many DVD's and books to utilize on a rainy day. The view from the back screened in porch is awesome. We will definitely plan a trip back to Whispering Waters! Thank you for all you do!!! Great job!

Wedding by the River!!

It's true. All the stellar reviews you've seen here so far? BELIEVE THEM. Situated on a rocky prominence over a bend in the Oswegatchie River, it is a dream location. The owners hosted us for the inaugural wedding at their property, Their excitement level and involvement might have led a casual observer to think it was one of their own family being wed. We are beyond thrilled with our experience. There are simply not enough stars in this rating system to describe our satisfaction.

Paradise !!

As soon as we arrived at the cabin .. all you could hear me say was WOW or OMG !! This cabin is gorgeous and our hosts thought of every little detail you could imagine to make our stay relaxing. Everything is taken care of right down to spray for your eyeglasses!! The cabin is located on such a beautiful spot on the river so my camera never rested .. but I slept amazing. The outdoor hot tub is just what the doctor ordered too. The cabin opens up and ((hugs)) you like you are home. Thank you for all you do and for sharing your lil' slice of heaven with us. Perfection at it's best :) We are definitely looking forward to our next trip!!

OH My GOODNESS! This was PERFECT!!

We rented the cabin for our son's graduation from Clarkson (a little less than an hour away). We were not sure how many would be staying but Ted and Jeanice were very accommodating. Our son had planned to continue to stay at his Potsdam Apartment for the weekend but when he saw the cabin Friday night, he was in too!. We had a fantastic time, cooked, enjoyed the privacy and the view. The pictures do not adequately convey the charm and completeness of the cabin. Ted and Jeanice have thought of everything! Everything! We have not stopped raving about to anyone who will listen. Everyone in our party (there were 7) is planning for how and when they can return.

Beautiful and peaceful place

Came up with family for my son’s college graduation. The house is warm and cozy, with a fairy-tale “cabin-in-the-woods” vibe. Our hosts thought of literally everything, even stocking the fridge with supplies for breakfast. I wish we’d been able to stay an extra day or two, just to continue to soak in the views and the sounds of the river. For travelers considering this rental: it is immaculately clean; private; warm; perched on the bank of a river. Great for a romantic or family getaway, or a writer’s retreat. Hosts are kind and generous and never intrusive. Beds are comfortable, and both bathrooms have been fully updated. The sound of the river rushing over rocks is mesmerizing. This is one of the very best vacation rentals I’ve experienced - and our family is well-traveled and has used VRBO for 20 years. Sincerest thanks to our hosts. It just doesn’t get any better.

Hands down best VRBO!

Thank you Jeanice Totten for making things so incredibly special for us. I have never entered a rental when on vacation that had the lights dimmed & Pandora playing. Much less a fridge stocked with orange juice, milk, & eggs. The coffee assortment & creamers made mornings on the deck perfect. The basket of snacks stocked fully with candy/chocolate, cookies, & chips made us all very happy! I knew all I had to do was keep opening drawers & anything I needed would be found! Basically it's a fully stocked cabin....all the way down to a bathroom scale I refuse to step on. I also like the collection of about a dozen robes to choose from. There truly isn't anything missing & you are to be commended on beating anything any concierge has ever done for us. ☺ Many thanks to you & Ted for all the little things that made BIG impressions !

Honeymoon Haven

My husband and recently spent our honeymoon at the cabin and we couldn't have asked for anything better. When we arrived exhausted on the night of our wedding we were greeted by flowers, a wedding card, and sparkling cider (I am expecting our first child)! I was blown away by that and i almost cried with relief when i opened the fridge to find eggs, bacon, pancake mix and everything we would need to make agreat breakfast the next morning. Besides the amazing warmth and hospitality of our hosts, i was blown away by the beautiful cabin and its suroundings. My biggest dilemma morning was chosing where to sit and drink my coffee while soaking up the beautiful views. The cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need and we were happy to spend most of the week right there at the cabin exploring the island and cave, canoeing in a nearby lake, doing puzzles, reading, and just relaxing. It would be almost impossible to lay on the hammock outside listening to the rushing water, or sit around the fire at night and not feel relaxed and at peace. Thank you and we can't wait to come back with our daughter!

A Home Away from Home!

From the moment we booked our stay at Whispering Water, Jeanice was wonderful, sending information about the area and answering all my questions. We arrived late the first night and the cabin was lit and warm and waiting for us, and after a great night's sleep, Jeanice and Ted welcomed us personally the next day, making sure we knew where everything was and that we didn't want for anything. The cabin itself is absolutely beautiful; the pictures can't begin to do it justice. We got to use the hot tub one night, the pellet stove on another, grilled food several times, and enjoyed waking up to the views every day. Close enough to town that we could run for groceries, but far enough out to feel secluded; this was the perfect place to come home to after visiting the Adirondacks, Lake Placid, Lake George, and chasing down several of New York's finest waterfalls. We even kayaked in some of the local lakes. The weather was perfect and the leaves just beginning to change, we couldn't have asked for a better week. The worst part was when it came time to pack up and leave! We've been telling everyone about how great our Whispering Water vacation was, ever since we got home, recommending it to all our friends. We are thankful to both Jeanice and Ted for opening their piece of heaven to the rest of us and making us feel right at home. I'm pretty sure we have been spoiled for vacationing anywhere else!
