The Space:
Our urban duplex on Southeast 14th Avenue is the whole property, both sides together, and it is the one we recommend for families who want a downtown Amarillo base. Two studio sides sleep up to 8 guests across 6 beds, with two complete kitchens, two full bathrooms, and two private entrances.
Each side of the duplex is its own complete home with its own front door, which gives traveling parents and adult kids or two families together the privacy of separate apartments while staying right next door. The two sides are not internally connected.
Each kitchen is stocked for real meals. Full size stove, oven, microwave, blender, coffee maker, freezer, cookware, baking sheets, dishes and silverware, and wine glasses. The dining tables seat your group for breakfast and dinner. There is a laptop friendly workspace on each side for parents working through the trip.
The living rooms come with a TV, Wi-Fi, ceiling fan, and the comfortable seating each side needs. The home is suitable for children ages two to twelve and infants under two, with the family travel basics like extra pillows and blankets, bed linens, towels, hair dryer, iron, hangers, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner all stocked.
Outside, you get a patio and a balcony space, a private driveway out front, and a garage on the property. Free street parking is available for additional vehicles. The location is the real story here, you are walking distance to Hodgetown and the downtown Amarillo core, which is a different feel from our suburban family homes.
Guest Access:
You have the entire duplex, both sides together, with private entrances on each side. Self check in is from 3pm with smart lock codes for both sides sent a couple of days before arrival, and check out is by 11am. Driveway, garage, and free street parking. The two sides are not internally connected.
The Neighborhood:
Southeast 14th Avenue is a few blocks from downtown Amarillo and the Hodgetown ballpark, which makes this duplex our pick for families in town for a Sod Poodles game, a downtown event, or a Civic Center show. You are right off I-27 and I-40, which gives you a quick route to Palo Duro Canyon State Park for the day trip south or to Westgate Mall and the rest of town for shopping. The Big Texan Steak Ranch is an easy run for the classic Amarillo dinner. Cadillac Ranch and the Don Harrington Discovery Center are quick stops for the family wanting the Amarillo highlights without spending the day in the car.
Getting Around:
Amarillo is best with a vehicle, but this duplex is also one of the few where you can walk to a few downtown spots. Right off I-27 and I-40 for quick highway runs. Driveway out front, plus garage parking and free street parking. Rental cars and rideshare both work well from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Other Things to Note:
This is the entire urban duplex, both sides rented together as one booking. The downtown location means a bit more street noise than our suburban homes, especially on Hodgetown game nights, which most guests enjoy as part of the urban stay. Non smoking, no parties, no events. Equipped with smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguisher, and a safe for valuables.
Interaction with Guests:
We respect your privacy. We are a quick message away through the Airbnb or Vrbo app, or by text if that is easier. During the day we usually respond within the hour. We are happy to share local recommendations for downtown Amarillo, Hodgetown event nights, or the right route south to Palo Duro Canyon.
