We liked that it was close ti Capital Reef Park, we coukd bring our dogs & that there was plenty if room-- inside & out. The rural setting with places to walk was wonderful. There was a communication glitch when we checked in but the host provided a fair solution.

Peaceful & beautiful home base
After working through some kinks, this was just what we hoped for. Close to Capital Reef park & great place on its own with places to walk
This property is incredible! We had a very relaxing time at the barn - kids had so much fun with all the amenities and wildlife around the property. Our dog was living her best life here too! Very spacious with lots of eclectic flare. We would definitely come back again. Tim (the host) was extremely kind and attentive!
Great place! The owner was an absolute delight! So grateful to have been able to stay here! Amazing property and location - so close to the most spectacular hikes and adventures!
This beautiful renovated barn/home accommodated all 9 people in our family very well. We stayed two nights and used the firepit each night. It was such a relaxing, serene setting - we truly enjoyed it!The host, TIM, was very friendly, and made sure that we had everything we needed! We would definitely stay here again - without hesitation.

Stunningly beautiful property!
Our family of five (with three boys) had a wonderful time relaxing, hiking the surrounding mountain on the property, cooking s'mores over a campfire, and driving into Torrey for a delightful dinner at Cafe Diablo. Loved our stay on the farm!
This area is amazing and we just love it here. Sitting on their front entrance of the barn enjoying coffee in the morning, wow!
The owner was so helpful, thank you! This is definitely our favorite VRBO!
Four adults and two dogs had Plenty of room, very comfortable. Enjoyed walking around the property and easy day trips to Capitol Reef. Didn’t come to the area to play pickle-ball, but did get in a few games. Host is on the property (500 acres), questions answered quickly.
Fun property with the reinvented barn into a rental property. Peaceful surroundings. Close to Capitol Reef NP. Loved wide open first floor with kitchen, dining and living room and pool table all together. Comfortable couches for relaxing with a movie after a day of hiking. We had a great experience!
This place was in a great location for our hiking trip to Capitol reef. Short drive to the park. Well equipped kitchen. It was a bit difficult to navigate the circular stairs to the second floor bedrooms. Tim was very helpful.
The ranch far exceeded our expectations — we were simply in awe of the beautiful property and perfectly appointed barn. It was just me and my boyfriend on this trip, but we could see how the space could be just as accommodating for a larger group of couples or a family. The location was a very manageable (and scenic) 30 minute drive from Capitol Reef, which we explored each day of our stay. We would love to come back to Elk Valley and do it all again!
This was our 8th time at the Barn so you know we must love it. Accommodations are great and the scenery, beautiful. Even with windy and rainy conditions we still have an amazing time. We really missed Sandy and her touch this year. 😢
Not only is the area amazing but the ranch is extraordinary! Top location and the hosts were fabulous; gracious, informative, kind and brilliant in how everything is set up! The ranch is set for 1 or 10+. Take the family or friends and explore one of the best areas in all of Utah in comfort, fun, and adventure! I will be back many many times!!
We have come to Capitol Reef every year for at least a decade, and this was our first stay at Elk Valley Ranch. It was a beautiful change of scenery! The barn was a perfect space to gather and enjoy our family time together, and it was conveniently located to enjoy the outdoor offerings of the park and other nearby areas. The barn offers so many amenities and fun activities that we were never struggling to fill time. The ranch is so beautiful, and the hosts are so kind to share it with visitors like us. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

Charming and Unusual
We loved this place! It's a unique barn converted into very comfortable and spacious living quarters. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the quiet setting is super relaxing. Sandy was in touch with me several times before and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed (we didn't need a thing!). The location is close to Capitol Reef National Park, which is a well-kept secret along the grand Circle Loop of Utah's wonderful parks. If it fits into your itinerary, I highly recommend this place and this location!
We enjoyed the very peaceful and pretty location. The kids loved the pool table and outdoor firepit. It is a fun and quirky house with a lot of space for a large group. There is ample seating and table space. The contact, Tim, was very kind and friendly. A few suggestions would be to have better directions to the house, have a professional cleaner come between visits, and put more fans in, especially upstairs. It gets quite hot in July. Overall, we enjoyed our stay though and had fun exploring nearby Capital Reef and Fish Lake.
This is a beautifully renovated former barn on a large ranch. High-end furnishings, looks professionally decorated, but I think Sandy just has lovely taste. Perfect for large families with 2 bedrooms plus 2 huge lofts with beds and another bed just off living room, 2.5 baths with 3 showers, and two dining tables, as well as picnic tables on the patio. My kids loved seeing the horses and their foals, and we enjoyed star gazing and cooking s’mores over the fire pit. Close to Capitol Reef National Park and right off Hwy 12, voted most scenic drive in America. Very restful stay in the middle of our tour of the Mighty 5 national parks. Sandy’s son was in the house next door and was very attentive to anything we needed. Would absolutely stay there again.

Perfect for reunion of family or friends
I highly recommend this location as an alternative to renting multiple rooms at hotels or B&B's. The barn is located a few miles south of Torrey in a beautiful setting off the main highway. It had everything we needed for a weekend getaway, and there are so many things to do around the area---from Capitol Reef NP to Escalante, hiking and magnificent views. Wish the eight of us (SLC area parents and adult children from Oklahoma) had more time to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and clever decor of the barn (we were so busy hiking and exploring the natural treasures in the area). The barn itself had all the comforts of home, and because of its size, a surprising amount of privacy. I can't think of a single amenity that was lacking. An added plus was learning the ranch's history and enjoying the wonderful art around the property. Sandy provided directions in advance of arrival & checked in to make sure our stay was just right. All in all, pretty good Utah hospitality which I hope to make a tradition.

This is a "MUST STAY" for your family gatherings!!
This is a beautiful place to stay. The inside of the barn is absolutely gorgeous! It had plenty of room for all 23 of our family. All the adults had a bed and the loft held all 15 grandkids. There were all the cooking things needed. There was a very nice, large gas barbeque. There are not places to eat out right there, but are a few small towns close by. We took our own food and that worked out great. The surroundings are so beautiful and it was very private. There were lots of places to walk and play. We went to Capitol Reef one day (only 10 miles away) and spent the rest of the time hanging out at the ranch. Our grandkids want to go again. The Dietleins were such great hosts and wanted to make sure that we took full advantage of all the ranch had to offer. There were hills to climb and beautiful walking places. The kids had a great time with the pool table. Even though we had a little rain while we were there, we had an awesome time. There was plenty of room for us to "just hang out" and that was what the kids wanted to do most. This was our first time renting and we had such a great time that we will do it again for sure. We will definitely come here again. Thank you Sandy and Allen for sharing your beautiful place with us and for making sure we had everything we needed. I would really recommend this for a family vacation!! Carol Stilson - Orangeville, Utah

Incredible! Simply Incredible
What an awesome place to spend a few days while visiting Capitol Reef. The barn is such a warm open space that fosters family time together and was perfect for our family. Dads cooking in the gourmet kitchen, moms reading in the warm sunlight beside the bay window, and the boys (6&8) are exploring everything, finding every secret nook.
The farm is idilic. Cows, pigs, cats, dogs, cranes, and deer all came and went during our stay. The snow lingered on the mountain tops in the distance while we sat around the fire ring and roasted marshmallows in the chilly evenings. We hiked down to the lower 180, a beautiful pasture that buts up to the national park and then caught the sunset from atop the hill behind the barn - awesome views.
The barn is about as comfortable and welcoming as you could want. Its a very open space that has more than enough room for large groups but is still perfect for a family to stay connected. There are lofts for the kids to have their own space and still keep in touch with whats happening downstairs. All the furnishings are rustic but elegant, and add to the Butch and Cassidy feel of the place. Im sure if those two stayed here, they never would have started robbing banks.
The barn sits in a quiet, out of the way corner of the ranch which has easy access to the main road and is only about 15 minutes from the park. Torrey is nearby and has anything you could need. I wouldn't pass on Slackers milk shakes.
All our needs were taken care of quickly by Ariel the ranch manger and Sandy kept checking in on us during our stay.
The was the first stop in our southwest Utah tour and it couldn't have been any better.
