Peaceful, Woodland Retreat in Frankfort, MI Near Crystal Lake & Sleeping Bear

Crystal Creek has been one of our favorite places to escape, and we're excited to share it with you.

Tucked away on more than three private wooded acres just outside Frankfort, Michigan, our cottage offers the peace and quiet that's hard to find, while still being only a few steps from Crystal Lake, and a few minutes from Lake Michigan, downtown Frankfort, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

One of the first things guests notice is how peaceful it feels here. The house sits among mature hardwoods with a small creek running through the property, creating a setting that feels like a treehouse in the woods. Whether you're enjoying your morning coffee on the wraparound deck, grilling dinner after a day at the beach, or simply listening to the creek in the evening, it's easy to slow down and relax.

Inside, you'll find comfortable living spaces designed for spending time together after a day of exploring Northern Michigan. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, a dishwasher, cookware, and everything you need to prepare meals at home. Whether you're here for a long weekend or an extended vacation, we want the cottage to feel like your home away from home.

Crystal Creek is centrally located for everything that makes this area special. Spend the day swimming at Crystal Lake or Lake Michigan, hike the dunes at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, watch the sunset at Point Betsie Lighthouse, browse the shops in downtown Frankfort, or catch a movie at the historic Garden Theater. During the warmer months, the Frankfort Farmers Market is a favorite stop, and Interlochen's concerts are an easy drive away.

When you're ready for a meal out, you'll find excellent local favorites nearby, including Stormcloud Brewing Company, Five Shores Brewing, The Crescent Bakery, L'Chayim Delicatessen, The Manitou, The Cherry Hut, The Lighthouse Cafe, and Dinghy's.

Traveling here is easy. Frankfort Dow Memorial Airport is about five minutes away for private aircraft, Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City is approximately one hour away, and Manistee County Blacker Airport is about forty minutes away.

One thing to note is that cell phone reception can be limited because of the wooded location. Most guests simply connect to the Wi-Fi and use Wi-Fi calling, and we've also provided a landline if needed.

Every season has something special to offer here. Summer brings warm days on Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan, spring fills the woods with wildflowers, fall offers spectacular color throughout Benzie County, and winter is wonderfully quiet with nearby opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and cozy evenings by the fire.
