This stylish little gem, surrounded by forest, sits on the edge of a large marsh cove on Green Lake. Located between Bangor, a major shopping area and Ellsworth, the gateway to Acadia National Park. It sleeps 4, or 5, if one is a child (6 to 12 yrs). Bar Harbor and entrance to the park 45 minute drive, Ellsworth or Bangor, 20 minutes. Surrounded by mature oak and ash, but close to the lake and cattail marsh, it is a great area for birders. Pets allowed for a fee, but must be discussed first.
There are two bedrooms, one is a loft bedroom with a stair/ladder and includes a queen size bed and skylight. One bedroom is downstairs across from the bathroom and has a double bed. There is a convertible love seat/cot bed, which a child of at least 6 years can sleep on, in the sitting area downstairs. The cottage can accomodate 5 people in a pinch, but it is better suited to 4 or fewer. The queen size bed in the loft is reached by a stair/ladder. There is a complete kitchen, dining table, and sitting area leading out through the french doors to the deck. There is a lovely wrap around deck accessed by french doors that makes you feel like you are living in a tree house.
The deck is high so this listing is not suitable for young children.
The water in the cottage is colored by tannins. We have a filtration and UV system in place. The water is not unsafe, but as a precaution we have supplied extra water for drinking and cooking.
You will have the entire house and access to the lake, which is part of the property but not visible from the house in summer. Cattails abound and provide a haven for wildlife. The owner will occasionally come by to work on the future walkway to the water.
