Kona Makai is a beautiful ocean front complex with colorful maintained gardens right on the Ocean with dolphin, whale watching. Quiet complex with private tennis court, free parking, free WIFI. Pool area is on the ocean with spa, ping pong, fully equipped fitness room and BBQ. On the Iron Man Triathalon path. Ground Floor unit for easy access, park right out the door to unload and only a couple steps vs most other units require wagon to unload and stairwells . This unit although ground level has an elevated lanai for views and is same level as 2nd floor across the way. Bldg 5 is just up from pool and away from road noise, North/South facing for dark cooler morning bedroom, indirect sunlight in living area. Building 5 is only building with new plumbing, painting done. Great location, easy access and close to town and beaches.
Brand new Remodel includes all new floor tile thru out, AC, new panel blinds, new blackout curtains, new stove, new bathroom vanity, sink, toilet, walk-in rain shower with seat and hand nozzle. Ninja smoothie and drink maker and food processor. Well stocked with kitchen supplies and new furniture, mattresses, towels, bedding, kitchenware, ice chest, snorkels, beach items.

The smart TV in the living room is hooked to cable. Plus a new smart fire TV in the bedroom.

Tile floors, fans and AC keep it cool. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board are provided. Snorkel, fins, beach gear, boogie boards and tennis rackets. Dining table and bar chairs. Queen sofa sleeper has the new upgraded mattress.

Two lanais are only availablein buildings 3,4,5 one with ocean view allows trade wind to flow thru-cooler nights. Outside lanai has sitting with lounger, tables and chairs.

Tennis court requires getting the key and returning the key to the HOA manager office, which is just a couple doors down but plan for the weekend because they’re not the end on the weekend. There are a few tennis rackets in closet.

Beautiful snorkeling reefs right at the property with access (except in high surf). Watch dolphins,sunsets and whales from the property. Shower is in the pool area to wash off

Very convenient ~ 1 mile walk or 2 minute drive to town and well known restaurants . On the bus/trolley route. Five minutes from famous snorkeling beach with sea wall, lifeguard and sea turtles. Enjoy shopping in town and the open market.

Volcano National Park is a great day trip. Pu'uhonua o Hōnaunau National Park is only 30 min and best snorkeling at 2 step a short walk outside the park.

Very safe condo with well maintained gardens. Parking was easy. The condo has a big bedroom with a king bed that is very comfortable. The kitchen has a new microwave and stove. There were ample supplies in the kitchen cabinets, but since we were out a lot we didn’t get to make use of it. Very close to restaurants! Overall a great place for 2 people.

We really enjoyed this unit in Kona Makai. It was very clean and had a good setup for a small family with all the kitchen stuff included. It is close to town and not too far from the best beaches. All the amenities were as advertised. We would gladly stay here again.

Nice place right on the ocean

The condo is in a great location for exploring both north and south. Clean, fully stocked kitchen, nice pool area with bbq grills by the ocean. We were able to watch whales and dolphins from the lawn chairs. There was a bunch of beach gear, but wouldn’t count on the snorkeling equipment (guests had obviously not taken care of it). There were a bunch of tennis rackets and balls too. The complex is very quiet. We had a great stay!

Loved the lanai. The trees hid the view of the ocean but they also kept the lanai cool during the day so we could sit out and enjoy the outdoors. Also loved seeing the sunset while having my glass of wine.

Why they chose this property

After doing all the islands, Kona has the best weather. Not much wind and rain. Plus it still has a small town atmosphere. I have enjoyed the Kona Makai since it was new, coming with my parents. I bought and have maintained a vacation unit since 1998. I enjoy coming regularly to ensure maintenance, updates and replenishing is done.

Enjoy Beautiful sunsets right on the ocean
Bbq right on the ocean for dinner sunsets Build g 5 is perfect for unloading groceries right in front, no stairwell, away from pool common area noise, close to parking, just few steps to pool. It has two lanais unlike the older building 1,2 and 6. It’s not facing parking by tennis courts and alii road noise like building 4. Nice view to ocean from lanai.
