Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re glad you enjoyed the charm of the house, the spacious layout, and the decor. While the yard is limited, we’re happy you were able to take advantage of the nearby river walkway. It’s a lovely spot! We appreciate you staying with us and hope to host you again in the future.
This house was perfect for our stay in Roanoke. It was exactly like the pictures and the host were so e as y to work with. The kitchen was stocked with grits, oatmeal and snacks. The weather was delightful with a bit of snow and our hosts quickly sent someone to clear the sidewalk and steps, we would highly recommend this house for a nice family get away. Great location and near fun shops.

This is a very comfortable home and is pet friendly. It has everything we needed for our stay. We made good breakfast both days. Much better than any hotel. Thank you very much for a comfortable stay.
This rental was perfect! The details, the cleanliness, the size, the upgrades, the location, and the owner answered all questions I had before our arrival. You can tell this owner takes pride in his vacation rental!
This cute little house is so well done - multiple chargers everywhere, coffee and snacks stocked, super easy check in/check out. And the bar was not only full of great liquor, but also some mixers!
what a great house, great location and great communication. the house had everything we needed and was in a great location. we enjoyed having coffee on the front porch every morning, as well as cocktail in the evening! thank you so much
Great older home on the west side of the city, well cared for and stocked. Great communication with the owner. You need to know it is on a very busy street, Loud traffic from 6am until 10pm everyday. The neighborhood is a bit dicey with homeless people sleeping on porches, stairs and sidewalks. People walking by asked for money, cigarettes and other things everyday.
The house was beautiful. Very clean and tidy! So much was provided for us. And the communication was wonderful. We didn’t LOVE the street it was on BUT we would go back again in a heart beat. Only 5 minutes from great restaurants, coffee places and the children’s museum. Again the house was so great!

Super cute, older house with upgraded furnishing, appliances and HVAC, with plenty of space to stretch out. Within a mile or 3 of everything you could need. Neighborhood is mostly quiet but it is street front in a city so there is some traffic but not so much that it interrupts a good night’s sleep on the very comfy beds. Technically not mobility-impaired friendly as it has steps to entry and all bedrooms and the shower are upstairs, but if that is not a need, this is a great location and affordable accommodation for a visit to Roanoke! Would stay again if in the area!
I recently hosted a bachelorette party at The Speakeasy Guest House in Roanoke, Virginia, and I must say, it exceeded all of our expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the immaculate cleanliness and the abundance of amenities available to us.The guest house was spacious and beautifully decorated, providing a perfect setting for our celebration. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the common areas were perfect for gathering and making memories. One of the standout features was, of course, the speakeasy, which was perfect for our cocktail night and added a unique, fun element to our stay. The guest house’s location was a major advantage, providing a cozy getaway close to downtown Roanoke. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the numerous excellent food establishments and engaging in enjoyable activities in the vicinity. The hosts were communicative and helpful, making every aspect of our stay smooth and enjoyable. If you're looking for a unique and accommodating place to host an event or simply enjoy a stay in Roanoke, I highly recommend The Speakeasy Guest House. We'll definitely be returning for more celebrations in the future!
Super cute, older house with upgraded furnishing, appliances and HVAC, with plenty of space to stretch out. The kitchen has basic cookware to make small meals while staying and the have plenty of supplies to do laundry if you are planning a long stay.
The location is a short drive from everything you could need. The neighborhood is mostly quiet and well lite at night. All bedrooms are upstairs and there is a street light right out side the window. Would recommend a heavier weight or black out curtains to help darken the room at night to sleep.
Stephen was very accommodating and responsive to all of my questions and request for a fan as there are no fans upstairs to circulate the air.
Fantastic Stay for Remote Work and Family Vacation!
Our 12-day stay at this property was wonderful! We were impressed with how well-equipped and comfortable everything was. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook dinners, including pots and pans, oil, salt/pepper, etc. The two beds were comfortable, and our 3-year-old loved the air mattress. The house was very nicely remodeled and has a lot of character.
The dedicated office and extra monitor made it easy to work remotely and the high-speed WiFi made video calls seamless. The location was ideal for biking, which was great since my husband biked to the hospital for work a couple of days using the nearby bike path by the river. This was a great location but not a bougious neighborhood. We felt safe going for walks and sitting on the porch at night, but there were a few wayward souls about who kept to themselves. If you want to stay in the suburbs, stay in the suburbs, otherwise we wholeheartedly recommend this rental!
This is a great house to stay at. You can tell the host put a lot of thought into what guests might need with multi device chargers throughout the home. The upstairs lounge/office was great and they even thought about having an available HDMi cord for connecting. Modern appliances and pretty much anything you would need is there. A good thing that is not advertised is this is a bike friendly house. The laundry room doubles as a mud room with wall mounted bike racks so you can secure your bike if you bring it. Which you should because there are parks and local restaurants near bye and there are dedicated bike lanes. All this wrapped in a beautiful classic home. We have stayed at many VRBOs and this was one of the best. The only suggestion I would make is maybe some curtains for the front entryway and the back door for more privacy. Better yet, go with stained glass on the front entry and it would make the house even more beautiful.
