This is a beautifully upgraded 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, ski-in, ski-out condo at Sunstone Lodge with terrific views over Mammoth Lakes. This well-appointed vacation rental features a flat screen TV in the living room with a cozy gas fireplace, luxury furnishings, custom built-ins and custom paint throughout. The dining area comes equipped with a custom wood dining table with seating for 4 and a kitchen fully equipped with all the amenities. There are spectacular views of the Sherwin Mountains and the town of Mammoth from the outdoor deck too! The master bedroom features a comfortable King bed with TV and DVD player and stereo. There is even extra sleeping room on the sleeper sofa in the living room. All guests receive complimentary full access to Snowcreek Athletic Club to enjoy facilities including indoor heated pool, steam/sauna, full fitness facility, yoga, pilates and cycle studio and more. This Mammoth condo sleeps a maximum of 4 people and comes with underground, heated garage parking for one vehicle (garage clearance is 8' 2"). Guests will be provided one parking pass. If more parking is required than what is allotted, feel free to call our office for alternative options. This unit comes with building wide wireless internet, we cannot guarantee speed or accessibility. There are no stairs to this unit, no stairs inside, and no smoking or pets are permitted. Reviewer Comments: It smelled like smoke for one hour from previous people but we cross ventilated and opened every dor and window so it is NOT the condo's fault...otherwise after that, everything was amazing, clean nice, tv great, heater great, bedroom bed fantastic, pullout is a pullout do not expect a miracle, but it was ok too. Coffe machine fine, pots and pans good, need a bigger coffee mug but nice, fridge was almost too cold. Very close to slopes, very close to restaurants, to shopping, good underground parking, good public Jacquzzi, no problems so I give it two thumbs up!

I was surprised to see only 1 roll of toilet paper for a 4 day stay. I only stay at Sunstone and this was a first. Also…..unit 103 is quite sparsely provisioned. No salt or pepper which I found odd as other units have always had basic stuff like that. Lastly and I realize this has nothing to do with Sunstone…..but the occupants of unit 101 on Monday -Tuesday argued so loudly that I considered called Mammoth PD. I have never had that happen in the property as Sunstone is an amazing place.

Sunstone - for the location

Place was as advertised - a good, but dated, unit right next to Eagle Express, which is why you pay what you do to stay here. All was clean, enough supplies for two were provided, and the bed and sofa bed were fine for a few nights. The only issues were that the over-oven microwave didn't work, so therefore the over-oven light did not work and you couldn't see anything in the morning or night and with no under-cabinet lighting you couldn't see to make a pot of coffee in the 1999 coffee maker with the wrong size filters, LOL. Also, I think the thermostat was also from around the 80s. A dial with no numbers that was a struggle to move and you had to guess a few times to get right. Last positive, great pool and jacuzzi. Also where you walk out to ski/board to the lift. THAT was awesome.

They did a great job of being available to answer questions and listen to the few thoughts and concerns I expressed about the property.The upside of this unit is the ski in/ski out location. I can not emphasize how wonderful it is to “Gear Up” and be able to walk down the hallway to begin your day on the Mountain. Another highlight is the heated parking garage, no scraping ice from windows or removing snow after weather passes through. The unit itself is clean and in decent shape, I would give it 3 1/2 stars, could be 4 stars with some small improvements and upgrades.The downside mostly references the general property itself and cost. Overall the insulation at Sunstone is mediocre at best. Being on the first floor you will get quite a bit of noise if the units above on the second floor are occupied and from folks walking the hallways especially in ski boots. The unit also sits very close to the main garage entrance door for vehicles. It is very loud and squeaks and squeals when it opens and closes. Regular maintenance could easily fix this problem. Finally, and I have to mention it, The Bed is Ridiculous!!! Please, Please, Please get a New Mattress!!! It has more peaks and valleys than Mammoth Mountain!Overall for the going rate I would say that it is a bit Overpriced, but a very convenient place to stay. Some improvements would go a long way, but I feel at over $500 dollars a night during ski season one should expect more in the way of quiet and an updated/refreshed unit. Again, Please at least replace the Bed!!!Hope this HelpsWould recommend with New Bed and Refresh but until then only if your in a bind or Must Have Ski In/Ski Out...

Comfortable One Bedroom

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I spent one week at this property. The location at Eagle is wonderful! The complex is a true ski in/ski out. Ski lockers and a lock provided are an added bonus. Sunstone itself seems to attract an abundance of families which is lovely but expect the noise level to be on the high side during waking hours. The building could have definitely been built with more insulation in the walls and ceilings! The unit is very cozy with decorated in a cute mountain style. Size wise it was very comfortable for the two of us. I personally feel one or two children could work (would be a bit cramped) but I definitely would not consider more than two adults. A nice view of the from the deck is wonderful for enjoying sunrise and after a day on or in the mountains. The challenges this unit has are all normal wear and tear issues which could easily be resolved a with small financial investment to make necessary repairs and improvements. I will say this first and elaborate on specifics in a moment, I give this unit 3 1/2 stars. It could easily be 4 1/2 to 5 star with a small investment in maintenance and repair. The number one challenge is THE BED. This is not a personal issue, it has been written up in previous reviews. It is old and sags two to three inches on both sides in the sleeping areas, this makes for a sore back after a few days! The next is the fireplace, it is wonderful to have but it doesn't work. We tried manual and remote controls. It turns on momentarily, shuts off shortly thereafter. This is regardless of temperature setting. A real bummer when your looking forward to a nice fire at the end of the day. Finally the last few issues are simply normal repairs. The counter top in the kitchen has one large circular burn mark and several large knife scratches, could use replacing. The blind over the door to the deck will not stay all the way up, the rope is worn and will not lock. To finish the sink in the bathroom leaks from somewhere in the base of the fixture

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was an average condo. I've stayed at over 5 different units in this complex managed by mammoth itself and various other private entities. This was on the lower end in terms of cleanliness. Most units are dated in decor, so that's a given, but this one had crumbs on the counter, a dirty rag in the bathroom trash, cheaper quality bath towels and sheets, but it was also cheaper in price, so you get what you pay for. As long as you understand there's a trade-off, you'll be satisfied. The management company seems staffed by younger people who don't have much interest in hospitality or customer services, but they do answer the phone and emails. The location of this unit can't be beat.
