House was exactly what we were looking for a weekend ski trip. Always a place to eat with Boyne Tap Room right down the road. Owners are very attentive, responsive and have wonderful customer service.
It was perfect for four buddies to get away and have a 4 day fishing trip. We would definitely book this place again it has plenty of room for a 20 foot boat in the driveway.
The house was very clean with ample supplies for our family. Excellent location. Nothing fancy, but very clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. Property owner responded promptly to emails. Like many old houses, the staircase going upstairs was steep.
Very nice and clean home that has been recently renovated. It was perfect for the two of us traveling to the Boyne City/Gaylord area. Close to downtown Boyne City, a short drive to Boyne Mountain, and about 35 minutes to Gaylord. We hiked trails in the area and went to Boyne Mountain. There are enough bedrooms for our kids to come next time we visit the area. The owner was friendly and easy to work with on any questions we had during our stay.
Minute from downtown, close to Boyne Mtn & dog friendly!
My husband, two dogs and I rented this home for a conference I attended at Boyne Mtn, which was an easy 11-12 minute drive away. We could have likely walked to downtown without a problem but it was raining the whole time we were there. The line that was attached to the porch was a nice touch for letting our dogs out.
Overall, the place was adequate and served us well. We visited to go skiing but the weather did not cooperate so we were in the house more than expected. The area and set up was nice but there were a few drawbacks in that there was no dishwasher, the water pressure for showers was weak, beds were not comfortable and the stairs to the second floor were steep. Also, the top bunk did not have any guards on it.
The house was located just outside of town and we had our dog with us so there was no real immediate place to take the dog for a walk without being on the road.
Communication with the owners was pleasant and very relaxed including the check in/out process.

I would encourage everyone to read the listing fully and thoroughly before booking. If a dishwasher is something that’s important to you you should double check the listing to make make sure they have one. I have personally stayed in my own Airbnb to make sure it has everything that a guest might need. I find all the beds to be comfortable. Of course there’s some beds I prefer over others there’s. We do have a mix of firm to soft. The steps are a bit steep however, it’s 100-year-old house. 🤷🏻♀️ We did recently purchase a top bunk Garde to place in the bunk room. Thank you for that little bit of constructive criticism Kevin. As far as no sidewalks go… Again, I would instruct Guest to do their research and read the listing thoroughly. There is a trail across the street that leads to a 300 acre nature preserve.
This is also listed on my page.
The house was clean, as shown in the pictures and was conveniently located to Boyne City and Boyne Mountain.
The checkin process was easy. Overall, the accommodations were good.
However, we observed some things and had a couple of experiences that caused us to think we should have
just booked at the resort.
It looks like the house may have been hastily flipped as there were a number of things that were lacking
in attention to detail such as unfinished trim and a piece of PVC pipe for a stair railing that looked
as if it was extra from a construction site.
The main concerns were that when you first walk in the door, there is a strong smell that is not
pleasant. I don't know whether it is just an old house smell or if it was smoked in for years, decades
ago, and is now just being masked. Also, when we first turned the heat up, there was a foul smell
that smelled like marijuana.
All that said, it was nice to get away on a ski trip with our family and this house was a good home
base for the weekend.

As a host that self cleans, I can assure that there is no foul odor (cigarettes, or marijuana) in the house. My family and I lived in the house for 15 years prior to us turning it in to an Airbnb, and prior to that my in-laws for 30 years (all non-smokers). That being said, after every guest that checks out that brings a pet we run an ozone machine to make sure there are no odors from the previous guest/pets.
There is a PVC pipe as a railing going upstairs as it’s hard to find a carpenter to stop in and do just a rail. It is on our list to be replaced in the near future better to have something rather than nothing.
With all Erin’s concerns, she never contacted us to bring the “ smells or odor” to our attention. We would have happily came over to investigate the “smell”.
Erin if you’re not going to allow a host an opportunity to fix the “problem”, you probably should stay at a resort from here on out.
