Lovely big dog friendly option
We really enjoyed our stay in Hendersonville! House/cabin is very comfortable and could easily accommodate 6. It is multiple levels so you’ll have to be okay with some stairs. Modern amenities available including usb port nightstands, washer/dryer, hairdryer, iron and everything you could need in the kitchen. There are also games, books, coloring books and magazines. It’s a beautiful, quiet property where we saw quite a few deer and our 100lb Golden-Newfoundland was able to roam freely. Nice, short trails around property made for lovely morning walks before heading out to many beautiful nearby dog friendly hikes with tons of easily accessible waterfalls. The downtown is cute and quaint and also very dog friendly. There are plenty of shops, breweries and really good restaurants to choose from. There are several grocery stores nearby too if you want to cook. The owners live in a completely separate house on property and will meet you at the cabin to let you in and answer any questions - they are nearby if you need anything but don’t intrude on your privacy at all. Great option for Hendersonville/Asheville especially if you want to bring your dog(s).

About the host

We are Miami transplants. Hendersonville was the favorite vacation destination of our family since the 60's. In the 80's Brian's dad bought our house and the 8 acres surrounding it. We bought the property from the estate, and our siblings partnered with us to have Brian build two more houses. This is our family's refuge and retreat.

We set up a greenhouse to grow hydroponic lettuce. We can grow over 2000 heads of lettuce and other greens. When Sierra Nevada first came to the area, we grew lettuce for the restaurant. Turns out, most people are not big salad eaters here. We've been using the greenhouse for other things.

We have a lovely lavender field. The neighborhood bear likes to tromp through the lavender looking for ant eggs. Our little 27 lb. dog, Wren, likes to chase the bear. She really gets him moving.

Best of all, is the pleasure of meeting all the people and dogs who rent our homes.

We hope you have a wonderful stay, and we're here to help if you need something.

Why they chose this property

Years ago, this area was a bucolic paradise, and the property was exceptionally beautiful. There were only three other houses down the hill from our house. They shared a large meadow. What a great view! They were owned by a Miami businessman, doctor, and lawyer who took great pleasure in manicuring their neighboring properties.

Crab Creek Rd. was a narrow two lane road with farmers frequently moving tractors. No housing developments. Only a couple of restaurants in town. No fast food restaurants until the 80's! A dry county until the 90's, I think.

Times have changed. It's still beautiful. You have the best of two worlds--the rural beauty and activities and modern shopping, restaurants, and breweries.

What makes this property unique

Our location is the best. We are located half way between town and rural hiking and biking areas. Kanuga Conference and Bike Park are just across the road from us. Jeter Mountain Farm is close to us. We are near Asheville, Brevard, Greenville, and lots of other small towns.

Our homes are very upscale and designer furnished, providing you with everything you need to have a great stay. We are also available to help if you need something..
