Some friendly feedback

This location is great- next to my parents and so would stay again. Some things to consider; hand towels in bathrooms, salt/pepper, paper towels, coffee. Additional plates/ bowls. Sleeps 8 but only 4 plates. Organize kitchen better and deep clean. There was dirt on the walls and ceiling from the kitchen to living room. Wifi was written wrong.

Shuffling exercise

Did not receive check in direction so I reached out in advance. Owner responded at the time of check in to let me know the house was not available to rent due to emergency repairs that were needed. He said he had another bigger home available but would do me a favor of not charging extra. Upon check in it was clear that the home was not ready for rentals. Dirty and nothing you would typically expect for a high end home rental I complained and was then told there was now a third home that we could move to. We moved snd the third place was furnished nicer, yet so poorly supplied it was difficult to enjoy. A few cups, no wash cloths, no soap, no hairdryer, no sponge. It seems like the owner just didn’t want to lose a booking so put us in places not ready to Vrbo. One of our worst Vrbo experiences in many years of satisfaction. I do not recommend anything by this owner. He needs counseling by the Vrbo team to prevent their reputation being damaged.

Chirping smoke alarm

We entered the property and heard the chirping smoke alarm. I contacted the owner immediately. His response was to ask me to try and fix it. That wasn’t really appropriate since I’m 75 and didn’t have a battery or a ladder or really any means of doing so. So he says he can get a battery over to the property in an hour. After a long day we were exhausted and I told the owner that was not acceptable as I couldn’t really deal with the smoke alarm anyway. I told him that the property was not inhabitable and that we were leaving immediately to get a hotel room before the hotels were sold out. I asked that my money be refunded from the owner and VRBO. I’m still waiting. While we were waiting for various text replies from the owner, we looked around the property. It was NOT as shown in the pictures except for the master bed room. The place was filthy…grime everywhere in the kitchen. The pots and pans look like they were salvaged from the dump. The sofa was “college dorm dirty”…really disgusting! No usable kitchen tools, dirty socks in the closets; I could have knitted a sweater from the lint in the laundry room. Completely unsanitary and unsatisfactory. Don’t stay here!

At Vrbo community, we encourage honest review. The smoke alarm batteries was changed immediately within half of hours and house were fully cleaned.
