This was the second time we stayed at the Tranquil Getaway. It is close to our family and this makes a great "extra home" for visits. The home is comfy and well appointed for family stays. We look forward to staying again in the future.

6/10. It’s… fine. If you need a whole house for a larger family group and all that comes with that for a longer stay it will be what you need. If you are traveling with an RV or trailer you’ll appreciate the long driveway. Overall no serious complaints if you remember that this is a VRBO in rural MD being run by a property company.Inside it’s dated and the furniture is worn. Oddly furnished (for example has an XBox but only PlayStation games, which I thought was funny) but it has the minimums and then some, especially the kitchen. All the TVs have a streaming device, but hit or miss on the apps working (unsure if it was supposed to be included or if it was just the last person logged in still, so I can’t complain). My major gripe is that in the whole 2.5 week stay the grass didn’t get mowed once and the bugs got really bad to the point where the kids couldn’t play outside anymore. There are also no thermostat instructions so that was a journey. They must manage it remotely, so you keep having to go back and turn it down from 76 to 72.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Glad the house had plenty of room for your group and that the kitchen was well stocked for a longer stay. The Xbox and PlayStation game combination gave us a chuckle, too! We appreciate you pointing out those little quirks, along with the furnishings that could use some attention. We do have regular lawn care and property maintenance scheduled, though with the rural setting, grass can grow quickly and bugs tend to be more noticeable during the warmer months. That said, the yard should've been in better shape for your visit, and we've brought it up with our team. As for the thermostat, some settings can be tricky to navigate without clear instructions, so that's something we'll take a closer look at. Thanks again for giving a fair picture of the home and what could be improved!

The hosts are lovely here, but while the bedrooms, the bathrooms, and the living room have been updated, the rest of the property desperately needs work. The concrete on the path up to the door was rubble, and hard to walk on. The back deck was sad and worn down, and all the cushions had mold. At the price they are charging they need to fix these things. That said, it's a comfortable house, and there are few to no houses in the area at this price. It's extremely clean, the kitchen is relatively kitted out, a good size, and the living room is huge with a lot of comfortable seating. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms large and updated, and you will be happy here. The location is great, and it's sad the back deck isn't nicer as it's a lovely yard. With a little work it's an easy 10/10

Sounds like the home had a lot going for it, and we appreciate the straight-up feedback on the outdoor areas too. The inside has had several updates, while the exterior naturally takes more wear from weather and regular use, so we’ll be giving the walkway, deck, and cushions a closer look. We’re glad the home still felt comfortable, clean, roomy, and like a solid value for the area. Feedback like this helps us see where a few extra touches could really level things up.

Very cozy and well appointed.

We were in the area to visit our grand daughter who was graduating from the University of Maryland. It was great to find a nice homey property so close to get house in Mechanicsville.

4/10 Poor

I appreciated the microwave, washer/dryer, and refrigerator. The master bedroom mattress was only suitable for one person as when my husband and I both were in the bed, gravity forced us to the center.

Patuxent River Stay

The home needs some TLC. Light switchs in various rooms were broken. The master bathroom sink was without a drain plug and the bathroom mirror light wasn’t working but a stick up fluorescent light was added. The Nest thermostat had no instructions on how to operate it. The living room furniture that was two recliners with a center piece was very shaky and not hooked together. We were there with six adults and two children but only had seven bath towels. The neighborhood was fine and proximity to our family’s home was wonderful. I think with a bit of effort it will be a wonderful rental.

Really appreciate the honest feedback. A few of those things definitely need some extra attention, and we’re already working on tightening them up for future guests. Wish we had known about the issues while you were still here so we could’ve jumped in and helped out. Glad the location worked well for your trip, and we’d love another shot to give you a better stay next time.
