The entire building as well as the individual apartment reeked of cigarette and marijuana smoke. The house next door is boarded up and the neighborhood is not great. The entrance to the building and the apartment had a very flimsy electronic lock with no deadbolt, which given the neighborhood is not ideal. I tried to resolve with both the host and vrbo and was given no recourse. We didn’t stay on the property because it smelled so bad and we were forced to shell out for a hotel. STAY AWAY!!!!

Cute but felt unsafe.

My stars are mainly based on what we saw outside as soon as we arrived…quite unexpected. While the host was great with communication, and the interior of the property shows potential… Our biggest issue is that neighboring house was boarded up with broken glass and spare car parts and a person seeming to be maybe a squatter pacing around. My children and I quickly entered the property feeling uneasy then noticed there was no deadbolt or security lock on the door. Just the code we were given and we were notified that the cleaning person was coming back by while we were present because he had forgotten something. There was just a general unease about the whole situation. Ended up leaving and staying elsewhere. I think more transparency would be helpful, let guests know what they are going to be experiencing once they arrive and what measures can be done to ensure they feel safe. Again, the apartment itself was decorated very cute and vintage- lots of potential once the neighboring house and its issues get fixed. (Suggest making the door more secure as well)
