Relax and unwind in this charming completely redecorated 40's style cottage on 8 totally private and secluded wooded acres. Stroll the grounds, try a cast or two from the bridge overlooking our peaceful private stocked pond...or take a serene walk through the woods. You might even catch a glimpse of our stealthy blue heron.

Luxuriously comfortable furnishings, a wood burning stove, and a nicely appointed kitchen plus many thoughtful touches not usually found in a rental, create a welcome retreat to let the cares of everyday life melt away. Think of Heron Pointe not just as a "rental." It's your exceptional home away from home!

Sun or have coffee on the back deck in total privacy with just the squirrels and the songbirds to keep you company. After sunset, star gaze with the one you love, cozy up in our large organic garden or deck fire pit or build a true campfire in our campfire circle. Plenty of complementary firewood ...it's all here for you to enjoy!

Heron Pointe BEST stay ever!

This property was AMAZING! Carol was the best host ever. Everything felt very luxurious, the kitchen was well stocked. Every guest was comfortable on every level. I wholeheartedly recommend staying with Carol. She treats everyone with kindness and respect. Carol was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay while in town visiting family. Carol goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and was very responsive to questions, including restaurant recommendations. We had our dogs with us, so very much enjoyed the large yard and the multiple walking trails that have been created around the property. During our stay, we also toured to the Motown Museum, so just adding a plug for that as we REALLY enjoyed it. Thanks again, Carol, for a great stay and all the hospitality!

A perfect Christmas vacation

Carol was so informative that made checking in and location a breeze. She took the time to put up Christmas decorations and made some wonderful Christmas memories for our family. Perfect Place to Unwind

There is absolutely nothing that could be improved. The description is spot on, except for the added touches you find everywhere. If you want privacy and pampering, this is the spot. Our dog loved lying on the deck or walking all the paths. Such cute seating options! walking thr paths too.

Amazing Rental!

Carol and Pete were great hosts! Communicative and easy to work with. The house looks like it was decorated by an interior designer and is stocked with everything you could possibly need on your vacation. The house is set on a beautiful picturesque wooded lot. Highly recommend!

Beautiful well appointed home, lovely grounds

Heron Pointe was a beautiful relaxing oasis for me when I needed solace from the business of the everyday world and "people-ing." The grounds and wildlife were a spiritual place for me and my dogs: we walked them several times daily. Carol & Pete provided everything needed for a perfect stay, even fresh flowers and were some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. There is a big cozy chair by the Clinton River as well as a big fire pit a little further down. I loved the WIFI and cable on the large flat screen tv as well. I hope to visit again soon.

Just a tiny point of correction...the water feature on the property is actually a 2 acre private pond that we fondly and kiddingly call "Lake Ewing!." It is part of the Clinton River watershed that runs through our area, feeding the many lakes, ponds and wetlands..

My Home Away from Home

We're Back....... Thank you Carol! So Happy the cottage was available for us to stay for Thanksgiving while we visited nearby family. As soon as I walked in the door I felt I was home again. We love it! My kids went right to the same bedroom they had the last time we stayed and immediately unpacked and moved in. We truly feel like we have a second home up north. It is as beautiful in the colder months with a bit of snow as it is in the summer. We cant wait to return again.

Nature Getaway

The main purpose for our stay was to have access to the beautiful 8 private acres of land to walk with our dog off leash. And we were not disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and the trails are easy to walk. My dog enjoyed the large pond and running around. Every thoughtful detail is attended to by the owner Carol. She is a warm and friendly person and even returned something we forgot there to our house which is 30 minutes away from her! Outside on the deck there is some road noise in the summer.

A little slice of heaven!

Our experience at Heron Pointe made for a memorable much needed family vacation! The first words we uttered upon entering Heron Pointe were, "Wow, this place is incredible!" The house was very well maintained and clean, and there was attention to detail around every corner. Carol definitely made us feel comfortable and welcomed right from the start. We enjoyed our chat at the garden! The kids LOVED fishing in the pond, and experiencing a pedal boat for the first time. We also enjoyed walking the nature paths together, looking for tree frogs in the grass, and swinging on the wood swing. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we were looking forward to coming back in the future even before we left!

Happy Campers at Heron Pointe :-)

Carol Ewing gets A++++++ on every rating scale possible. Matt & I stayed at the Heron Pointe VRBO July1-August 15, 2024. The accommodations were excellent. Carol's hospitality was above and beyond. Carol was exceptional to communicate with and to turn to for any concerns or questions that needed to be answered. My husband loves to stream movies. Direct Tv was provided, but Carol went out and immediately ordered ROKO so that my Husband's streaming favorites were able to be enjoyed after a busy day (10:00am-7:30pm) doing childcare for our 1st & only grandbaby that had just been born. (We came back home to Michigan.... to be just 6 miles from our only son and his wife with our new grandson.) We had a blessed time staying Carol's Little Piece of Heaven at Heron Pointe. No one should miss out on this wonderful guest house on her pond in White Lake Michigan. Carol has become a new friend. I hope I am fortunate enough to always be able to stay in Carol's lovely guest home. Beautifully decorated and every amenity you could ever imagine will be provided during your memorable stay!

The Owners thoughtfulness shows in every nook & cranny of this AMAZING HOME!

I'm not sure if there is enough room for me to write everything, I'd love to share with you!!! We had been in home isolation for 219 days ( w/3 kids) before deciding we should sneak away for a long weekend as a surprise for our kiddos who needed a break from our home/yard & all their "Zooms" classes. Wanted a Different state then our own, Within driving distance without needing a bathroom break, A place that was secluded from others (youngest child is high-risk hence our long isolation) & Still a fun place to go & make memories at too. Not a complicated thing to ask for right? This was the 1st location that I clicked on & right away knew we didn't need to look elsewhere! Just looking at the photos alone I knew that my kids would have so much fun with all the land & trees alone.... instantly sent Carol a message asking her a few questions (quite a few & quickly received a response from Carol answering them all!) Just pulling into the driveway I already knew we were "home". Every single detail was amazing & not overlooked. Walking in to the kitchen to find a nice welcome note & some goodies, exploring the house of course the kiddos were excited to see all the games, videos, Legos,..until we went outside and BOOM= HEAVEN! The yard is immaculate! It was like a scavenger hunt searching for the different decorations placed all around the 8 acres.( I won't spoil the items, but we had the kids take a list & write down all the items they found during our stay) The pond is so beautiful, several spots with chairs to sit in different areas around the pond & a hidden waterfall! Mrs. Carol stopped by on our 2nd day ( asked if ok to do so 1st & of course I wanted to meet the person who had decorated the home & yard with all the fine touches) She showed us around the yard, property, encouraged my kids to climb every tree they could & gave us a ladder to help them out if needed....*yes, Daddy had to save them a few times as they were trying to reach the "perfect" apple to eat* Mrs. Carol showed us & the kids her Garden, where to pick our own lettuce, carrots, potatoes for dinner, mint leaves for tea & how to compost! Spent hours exploring the trails, woods, fishing, digging for worms, nighttime bonfires, smores, & more. *I was right, not enough room to write everything* Carol, I still can't thank you enough for the over the top experience & memories made here! So much fun & proof that electronics are a luxury, not needed 4 fun!

Loved our stay at Heron Pointe

From the moment we walked in, we were so happy we chose Heron Pointe. The house was beautifully decorated, clean and welcoming. There were fresh flowers and a breakfast treat in the refrigerator. The yard was big, private and a great place to relax...a grill to cook out on and a pond to fish in. Trails to walk. Our hosts were so kind to us and supplied all our needs and more. Can't thank them enough. We already look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend Heron Pointe!!

Longstay Away...AKA Tripp Family Christmas House

OMGoodness we had a WONDERFUL time! We have been renting using VRBO for about 15years now and have had some LOVELY stays. Even still, we've never had as thoughtful and gracious a host as Carol! We felt so comfortable! The beds were comfy, the home was WELL stocked, the property was delightful (even in winter), I can not think of one thing I would have felt needed improvement. The great room layout was ideal for our large family to gather and not feel cramped. Carol & Pete...thank you ,thank you, thank you from Kim 7 Brad and family!!

Perfect home away from home

We stayed at Heron Point for a month and it was just perfect. We were able to work and do school remotely as well as entertain. The property is beautiful with flowers blooming at different times throughout the month. We loved relaxing on the deck watching and listening to nature. We saw deer, a variety of colorful birds, a groundhog and our Golden Retriever had fun unexpectedly jumping into the pond after some geese (the got away thankfully). Carol was so attentive and professional! We already miss it and look forward to going back!

Perfect stay

Carol’s place was perfect for a week’s stay while visiting family. The place was clean, homey, comfortable, and spacious enough for 3 people and a dog (all who were working remotely from the house). We appreciated the little touches - wine and breakfast goodies upon arrival, the beautiful garden that Carol insisted we pick from, the comfortable beds, fresh flowers and more. We enjoyed the spacious yard and patio, and our dog enjoyed the nearby lake neighborhood for walks. Great communication from Carol as well. Recommend staying here!

Wonderful Winter Break Stay During COVID

Heron Pointe is such a cozy, warm and lovely 'home away from home.' We traveled back to Michigan from California, to visit for a long stretch with our children and grandchildren. This was THE perfect place to do so, especially during COVID. The house was immaculate, with everything one would need for a two-week stay. The bedding was luxurious and warm (heated mattress pads!), the living room was comfortable (leather sofas and comfortable recliners!), with a great TV and cable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, a full-service of dinnerware, utensils, etc. with ample countertops and completely ready to cook in. Over the time that we stayed, it began to 'feel' like we were home. We truly could not have asked for more! Thank you for such a pleasant, lovely stay. We hope to return again!

Wedding Weekend

We were looking to find a place for our wedding weekend and this place was more than we could have expected. With everything that had happened, we had to make the tough call to postpone our big wedding reception. Since we still planned to get married, we needed a place where we could have a small reception with our bridal party and immediate families. We found the Heron Pointe Guest House and knew this was the perfect space! We reach out to Carol and let her know what we needed the Guest House for and thankfully she said, Yes without hesitation! We were able to put up a tent in the backyard to fit a party of 20 and tables on the desk for catering! We lit a fire in the fire pit for s'mores. The Guest House even had kid toys in the garage for children to play with! The property was beautiful. We had our dog with us and she enjoyed hiking the paths every day! The waterfall was beautiful and the colors on the trees were breathtaking. The house was fully stocked and felt like home. We will be back next year for Part II of our wedding. Home away from home

Nice property. Unique due to the spacious grounds, hiking and gardens on the grounds. Peace and quiet, tranquil setting. Close to many lakes and recreational opportunities.

Pete and I bought the cottage and land that is contiguous to our home and other property in 2007 and then another private lot in 2019 and did extensive renovations to make it a super comfy and relaxing retreat. Originally planned as over-flow lodging for our family and friends, we realized that the guest house was truly a unique place, that we were blessed to be the stewards of this land and that we wanted to share it with others. And ta-da ...Heron Pointe was established and opened for business in 2009!

Since then we have continually added and upgraded the property and its amenities. We invite you to check us out! It would be our honor and pleasure to have you as our guests.

Why they chose this property

Many of our guests have told us there is just something magical about spending time in this guest house. The 8 private acre "estate" with a pond, gardens, acres of lawn, a huge organic fenced vegetable and herb garden, woods meadowlands and a waterfall offer something truly unique and special, with a feeling of peace, tranquility and healing permeating everywhere! A true private back to nature experience.

That is a lot to live up to and we have spared no expense to make sure our furnishings and offerings are all top notch and comfortable, cozy and of course, immaculately clean.

We clean, scrub, disinfect and sanitize following all CDC recommendations and because we only allow one group of 5 people at a time, we were offering "sheltering in place" long before it became a "thing!" Our guests' comfort, health and safety are always top of mind at Heron Pointe.
