EATS & TREATS CLOSE BY
Explore delicious Thai food, wood-fired pizza at Hey Neighbor, Mexican cuisine, Beppe & Gianni's Italian Trattoria, Prince Puckler's Homemade Ice Cream and the decadent Sweet Life Patisserie, all within a mile. There’s also a natural grocer and convenience store 3 blocks away for stocking up.
Bring home a bottle of wine from the world's largest retailer of Oregon wines, Sundance Wine Cellars (tastings Friday & Saturdays, 3 blocks away).
WE LOVE FAMILIES
For families, we offer games, puzzles, trains, comfy fleece blankets, bath toys, blocks, and bedtime storybooks. Our high chair converts into a child chair and a chair/big kid table. The Pack n' Play with bassinet has an extra cozy memory foam mattress.
After a busy day, sip your favorite beverage on the covered back porch while the kids play in the fully-fenced yard. A door separates the bedrooms from the living room, so you can enjoy a movie on the Roku Smart TV, or unwind by the mini fireplace while the little ones are tucked in. There are two, big playground parks within 3-4 blocks and running trails a half mile from the house.
FULLY STOCKED KITCHEN
The kitchen is ready for you to prepare delicious meals! Comes with 12-piece cookware, baking sheets, blender, coffee maker, French press, electric tea kettle, charcuterie board, toaster, mixer, service for 6, chopsticks, kids' dinnerware, and more! There is no dishwasher, but a sweet view of the grassy backyard when you wash up.
DINING AREA
Your dining table seats 6 for meals, games or planning the day's adventure. (Plus high chair.)
SWEET DREAMS
The bedrooms are suited up with super comfy beds, Egyptian cotton linens, fluffy comforters and duvet covers with extra blankets and pillows for everyone. All nightstand lamps have charging stations. The blackout curtains are great for sleeping in!
THE RELAXING ZONE or SOFA BED
The living room sectional couch accommodates 6 for an evening of movie watching in front of the electric fireplace. Just pop the ottomans in place to turn it into a long, double bed complete with its own linen, pillows, and cozy queen duvet.
SQUEEZE IN SOME WORK
Should you need to tend to business or just check emails, you'll have a work desk with a 3-way/charging desk lamp with USB A&C and DC plugs available for your devices. Also at the ready are pens, pencils, tape, paper clips and scissors to set up shop if needed.
GETTING AROUND
Our house is an 8-block walk to the university and is perfect for getting to Hayward Field events and the Jan Sanders Softball Stadium.

About the host
Hosted by Laura

I’m so happy to call Eugene my home and thrilled to be sharing Sunshine House with you! My husband, Bill, and I have owned the house since 1997. We met in our early 30s and spent our sweet, early married years there, then moved to a larger house to start a family. Our hearts belonged to the Sunshine House, so we kept it to rent to students, families, and now, travelers like yourself.
The First Peoples in this area were the Kalapuyans. They moved around the countryside to collect and preserve local foods, including camas plants. Eugene Skinner and other settlers arrived from the east around 1846 in what they soon dubbed "Skinner’s Mudhole." You can visit Skinner’s grave site (and many other historical figures of Eugene) along with a field of beautiful camas flowers that bloom in early summer just a few blocks to the east at the Eugene Masonic Cemetery at the corner of East 25th Ave & University Street. We highly recommend a walk through the beautifully-kept forest and walkways.
Our home was born in 1938. This area of Eugene was home to dairy farmers and our house was one that welcomed many families of farmers over the years.
We hope you have a wonderful time exploring Eugene, enjoy relaxation and sanctuary in the private yards and patios, get a chance to hear the birds outside the windows, and, even on the rainiest of rainy Eugene days, find rays of warm light at Sunshine House.

Why they chose this property
Quiet, yet close to all the action of University activities, it is an easy walk to coffee, groceries, parks, and running trails. I love taking a jog through the neighborhood with friends and peaking in the many little free libraries on the way home.
What makes this property unique
Our home is nestled back from the street with a sweet front yard surrounded by lilacs, bay, rose bushes, and photinia. The long, covered porch that stretches the length of the house is the perfect spot for watching the sunrise and sipping morning tea.
