About this property
Sugarloaf Area Cabin, Clean, Surrounded by Fir Trees, Stratton, Outdoor Activity
May 16, 2025 through June 20, 2025 special rate of $75 per night/ 4 night minimum. Our clean and rustic home is at the base of Cranberry Peak of the Bigelow Range. We are 6.8 miles from Sugarloaf, an all-season resort, not only known for great skiing, but for its incredibly beautiful golf course and other outdoor activities.
Our home is open to guests from late April through December. We are on a quaint, dead end road directly off Rt. 27, the main road to Sugarloaf. Our home is sunny, has a small brook in the back (more visible in early spring and late fall), is surrounded by fir trees, is peaceful and quiet, and is often visited by deer.
Spring, summer and fall are great times to stay!! 4 day minimum required. 10% discount for 7 or more nights (see dates for rates). If you are a hunter or like to fish, Stratton, Maine is the place to come for deer, moose, turkeys, or birds. You can leave right from our backyard, and wander through the woods or on the many trail systems. Local folks can clue you in to all the great fishing holes!!! Bikers and hikers can access trails right in Stratton, or enjoy Sugarloaf Mountain trails, trails on the Bigelow Range, the Narrow Gauge pathway in Carrabassett Valley, or the Maine Huts and Trails. Flagstaff Lake is right down the road, surrounded by large red pines...you can kayak, swim, or fish!! On the other side of the lake is the great Maine Huts and Trails, where you can hike from hut to hut (trail open but huts are now closed). Rangeley is only 30 minutes away where you'll find more swimming options, activities, and restaurants. And, if you just like a quiet and peaceful get-away, our cabin would be ideal for you!
If you are not from Maine and want to include additional travel in your stay, the Canadian border is about 1/2 hour away, and Quebec City is 3 hours away. Other 3 hour destinations include the many scenic towns of the Maine coast, including Bar Harbor, and destinations in the state of New Hampshire, such as Mt. Washington.
More Information: Coplin Dinner House is within walking distance of our home - 3/8 of a mile away . Great gourmet food, or sandwiches at the bar. Hours vary in the summer. And, for a very small town area, there are 5-6 restaurants (depending on time of year) within 10 miles....with varying open hours during different seasons. Full grocery store 1 mile away.
Sharing Our Home:
We use our home on a regular basis and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!! It is not a 4 star hotel, but it is as clean as you will find, simple, peaceful, and pleasantly decorated. Our rustic furnishings, pine interior, sunny porch, abundant windows, and beautiful surroundings will all help you to relax in this great Maine vacation area! Our 'electric' fireplace adds ambience and warmth of a fire! We look for renters who will respect and truly enjoy the property.
There are 3 cozy bedrooms with 1 queen and 2 full beds. We limit number of guests to 4 people.
We provide all furnishings and everything you need for meal preparation. For bedding we provide blankets and pillows. You will need to bring sheets (2 full beds, 1 queen) and towels. We keep condiments, sugar, trash bags, tinfoil, saran wrap, etc., dish detergent for your use.
Our home is beautiful and clean and peaceful, and less costly than many other stand alone homes - we keep our prices reasonable because we don't have the amenities that expensive sites would have - we have high speed internet but don't have cable or satellite tv. We do not have a washer and dryer available. We hope that it is helpful for you not to pay a security deposit or cleaning fee, and just ask that you leave the home as you found it. We , the owners clean and maintain, and we can keep our rates low with your help! Thank you.
Because we are close to preserved land, outdoor fires are not permitted.
CLEANING: Long before Covid, we prided ourselves in cleanliness. We ask guests to leave the home clean, and in addition, we have always done deep cleaning between guests. We will be complying with lodging checklists the State of Maine has issued. Blankets are washed, clean pillowcase covers are used, the bathroom is sanitized, fixtures are sanitized, all surfaces are cleaned, the stove and refrigerator are cleaned, floors are washed. You will find our home to be very clean!

About the host
Hosted by Sue Murphy

We live in Windham, Maine, near Sebago Lake, and go to our home near Sugarloaf often. My husband is a ski coach on the mountain, and We ski together as often as we can.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property as a second home so that we could enjoy skiing all winter, and the many outdoor activities the area has to offer in the Spring, Summer and Fall. My husband has been a 'Sugarloafer' for almost 50 years, so we wanted to be close to the mountain.
What makes this property unique
The location of our home is just beautiful...lupines on the road in the early summer, beautiful foliage in the fall, and wildlife who come and go depending on the season. It is located on a very small dead-end road, with a couple of year-round and several seasonal neighbors. We are surrounded by hills, fir trees, and wildlife. It's peaceful, relaxing, and a great get-a-way! I love sitting on the porch on a breezy summer morning, sipping coffee, and listening to birds You can feel yourself unwind as you travel down the road. We chose this home because it is small and perfect for two, but with 3 bedrooms, plenty big for visitors. It is cozy, rustically decorated, fairly new, and very clean. Our grandchildren have spent many vacations here during different seasons, and if you have children and like being outdoors, this property is ideal.
