Charming year round cottage - Pet Friendly with Wi-Fi

Please contact us for more details. We would love to discuss your vacation plans at our Home Away from Home.

We are Pet Friendly and are happy to welcome any fur members of your family.

Our cottage is newly renovated, with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. Our living room has a flat screen TV and a working fireplace for the crisp New England Autumn nights. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with views to the ocean.

Outside is a garden oasis, which includes a small garden, backyard deck, and large grill set up.

We are only a two minute walk to the beach and the park. We are also within easy walking distance to the Shalin Liu Performance Center, where music artists play throughout the year.

Cottage on the Lane is perfect for your vacation get away or family reunion.

Step away from your hectic life. Welcome to our homes by the sea. The scent of the ocean. The crack of a lobster claw. Stirring coffee as your eyes dance over to the sun rising over the old church steeple. New England life at its finest.

Maybe you’ll while the day away in the numerous quaint art galleries. Maybe you’ll sample the best fresh seafood on the eastern seaboard. Or simply spend the day staring at the ocean. We can’t think of a better way to spend a vacation.

Sure, we’re biased. Our family has had a home in Rockport for almost 400 years. Each of the three cottages were built by our ancestors who were local fishermen, and has been a base for our family throughout the seasons and years. Let us open our homes and welcome you to spend time in this little slice of perfection.

Should your reservations need to be cancelled, we respectfully request that we receive such notice as soon as possible. With such a short summer season, refunds or partial refunds will be based on timing as our calendars fill up a year in advance and difficult to rebook for long range planning.

The cottage and owner were both exceptional. Communication was right on point. This lovely cottage is a complete joy to stay in. It was comfortable, fully stocked and in a wonderful location to explore Rockport without a car. We only wish our stay was longer.

Beautiful beach cottage!

My daughter and I have stayed with this host twice now, and they really do stock their homes with everything you need to make for a relaxing, homey vacation. One minute walk to beach and town, it's a little slice of heaven! Beds were very comfortable!

Impeccable Cottage & Superlative Location

The cottage is lovely and in perfect condition with an updated kitchen and bathrooms. We entertained friends for dinner on the beautiful patio which made for a memorable evening. The owners Louise and Karl were always available and most helpful. The location with a view of the ocean and only steps away from downtown Rockport was perfect. I would highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a first class North Shore vacation experience.

This cottage was home away from home. We loved staying at this cottage. Louise and Karl made us feel very welcome. The house itself but also the location are excellent. Our kids loved the great private backyard, the board games and books and the proximity to Front Beach. You can see the beach from every room (even the kitchen). We will come back.

Perfect location

Cute cottage house extremely convenient to beach, local shopping and restaurants. Quite friendly neighborhood, off street parking..we rarely used the vehicle. House is very well stocked w towels sheets, paper products, spices host left lovely bottle of wine, coffee milk breakfast supplies. Only challenge was finding room for our things.

Another wonderful stay!

This is such the perfect quintessential beach cottage. The rooms are all so warmly decorated and comfortable, and the cottage has everything you need. The lovely little town and beach are a two minute walk, and there is a beautiful park and pond just down the street. Louise is incredibly responsive and wonderful. We had such a perfect vacation here. This is our second time staying at this cottage and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

This cottage was everything you’d want in a getaway. Extremely clean, well stocked, comfortable and spacious. You can walk to Front beach and/or to BearSkin Neck within five minutes. The owner was lovely and easy to contact. They even left us a generous welcome basket for our arrival! Loved every minute of it!!

Lovely comfortable cottage. All the amenities - AC, wifi, 2 great showers, ocean views, backyard with butterflies and hummingbirds, kitchen with supplies and staples, quick walk to beach and Bearskin neck. Comfortable bedrooms - you can hear the ocean at night. Elegantly decorated. Lots of games and books. Everything you could think of asking for, including - for these unusual times - face masks and hand sanitizer!

Absolute perfection

I can't say enough about our experience at the Cottage. Every detail has been thought of from the moment you inquire. Louise was incredibly helpful, quick to respond and truly went above and beyond to not only accommodate our family's schedule but to ensure we had the most wonderful stay. The house is in a PERFECT location; just minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. The house itself is in immaculate condition. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, two full baths makes it so easy, the kitchen is top of the line and the back yard is a little oasis. We are already planning our trip back next year. Easily the best VRBO property we have even rented! (and we have rented lots)

Fabulous vacation rental! Everything was perfect - the home is adorable, the location cannot be beat, and the owners are absolutely wonderful. We stayed in the home with our two teenagers, and it was very comfortable for all. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked - we love to cook so this was a bonus for us. And we loved eating in the backyard - the perennial garden in absolutely beautiful. There are also so many wonderful restaurants in walking distance that we took advantage of as (as well as lots of ice cream stores). The beach is literally a two minute walk away, and is a nice family beach - my kids particularly enjoyed the dock that they could swim out to. And Louise is so kind and accommodating. Thank you so much for an incredible summer! We can't wait to be back!

Our 2.5-month stay at Louise's cottage in Rockport was truly a home away from home for our family of four, including two kids. Nestled steps away from both the beaches and downtown, the location offered the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility on a quiet street. Louise and Karl's attention to detail was impeccable. They provided everything we could possibly need, from spare linens and towels to a well-equipped pantry stocked with essentials like laundry detergent and kitchen supplies. The thoughtful touches didn't stop there – they even had games for the kids, office supplies, and a selection of books for all ages. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, with new appliances and a charming beachy vibe that added to its appeal. Louise, our gracious landlady, went above and beyond to accommodate our requests throughout the winter and spring months, making our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, our experience at Louise's cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. We're already looking forward to coming back and making more memories in this cozy haven by the sea.

You are TRULY a GUEST!

The owners do not see you as basic "renters". You are treated as a GUEST with many special touches. No detail of comfort or sanitation is overlooked. Idyllic Summer Home

Our family had a wonderful 2-week stay at Louise’s home in Rockport. The house is comfy and cozy and the outdoor garden and dining table with umbrella is an ideal place to have meals, especially with a grill there. The location, in walking distance to the beach and town, is so convenient. Louise is a great hostess, very responsive and helpful. We look forward to returning to this charming, idyllic summer home.

Favorite place to stay

This was our third summer stay at Cottage on the Lane. It continues to be one of my favorite rental properties for many reasons. Bringing our dog to join us on vacation, Louise and Karl’s hospitality, the comforts of home and the proximity to all that Rockport and Gloucester have to offer will bring us back each year when possible!

Lovely September in Rockport

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for the month of September while house hunting on the North Shore. Louise was a wonderful host - very accommodating to our needs and very quick to respond to questions. The kitchen was very well stocked with with supplies and Louise left us a lovely care package upon our arrival which included breakfast foods to make our first morning there easier and a nice bottle of wine. The house overall has everything one could need for a long or short stay and the backyard is small but charming. We used the grill almost every night. The house is a short walk to town and the beach and Rockport is a great town for exploring by foot. I would highly recommend staying at the Cottage on the Lane.

Charming Home and excellent location

We stays at this property for over 1 month. The home is charming with water views. It is beautifully appointed with all of the amenities that you need, from sheets and towels to cooking oils and spices. It was easy to settle in and live. Louise and Karl had beautiful vases of fresh flowers around the home and basic foods so we had something to eat when we arrived. The walk to the beach and town is a stone's throw from the house and the small backyard is perfect for outdoor dining. We had a lovely stay. Thank you.

Charm in Rockport

This cottage is ideally located for walking to town or beach. The only negative is the parking - you cannot park at the house, though a space is provided just down the street. The cottage is stocked with anything you could possibly need. There is a lovely garden with comfortable seating in the rear. If you are older, the stairs to the bedrooms could be a little challenging. The bedrooms have one bath to share. The second bath is downstairs at the rear entrance to the house.

The cottage on the lane

It was very enjoyable. Louise and Karl could not have been more accommodating and generous with the supplies. The only negatives were the full size beds and parking down the steeet.

As for the parking, we have what is really a parking lot of six spaces which is a rare commodity in Rockport and has the advantage over finding public parking out on the street. Having said that part of the renovations that will be taking place at Cottage on the Pond will be adding lighting to the parking area which should take care of that situation. We will also be exploring putting a queen sized bed in the yellow room as we do wish to accommodate all guests likes and needs. All of your comments are welcomed and appreciated. Cottage on the Lane was just lovely, no two ways about it!

A lovely cottage set on a side lane just two blocks up from Front Beach. Lovely ocean views, quiet street with friendly neighbors just up the way from Main Street and Bear Skin Neck, all within close walking distance. It was sooooo nice not to have to use our car! We walked lanes and byways, side streets and main thoroughfares in Rockport enjoying flowers, trees, lovely yards, store fronts, and harbor. For longer hikes we went to Ravenwood and Dogtown Commons all within driving distance. Easy kitchen to cook in, dining in for two or outback in the garden if more chairs are needed. All the amenities with full baths up and downstairs, washer and dryer, cozy bedrooms upstairs, all beautifully and colorfully appointed with soothing colors. We slept like rocks to the sound of wind and waves. Did I mention the cottage is pet-friendly? Our dog had a great time, too! Louise and Karl were more than accommodating and welcoming including providing a coffee grinder and plug in for my husband's electric car. Thank you soooo much for a lovely stay in this gem of a cottage. We have have already put this place on our list of 'must return again' list! Best regards, Barbara P. Wyner

Hi Barbara and George, It was truly a great experience meeting you both and we are happy that you enjoyed our special slice of heaven on “the lane” in Rockport.
