A charming place in the jungle
Sweet cottage with beautiful jungle surrounding it - clean and well stocked with items needed to prep meals. The fridge is small - but worked fine for us as we were able to grocery shop as needed. Beds were comfy and clean. There is a hot tub, but we did not use it. Good parking off the street. A lovely place to stay!

Great landing spot for trip to Volcano NP.
Great location for visiting the remains of previous eruptions. Very close to the park and more roomy than a rental.

Volcano
We stayed in the house for 2 nights while visiting Volcano national park. Very close to the park which is very convenient to go at night to see lava after dark.

Three nights in paradise
Be aware the furniture has changed since the pictures were taken. The recliner is gone, and the sofa has changed. The bedrooms look different as well. I was surprised to find things a bit more 'shop worn' than the pictures would have you believe, but we found we were comfortable. The oven doesn't work, despite the listing stating one is present. This wasn't a problem for us, but the listing should be updated to reflect this if the oven isn't fixed/replaced. Small fridge is fine for a few nights, but wouldn't be a problem for longer stays. What sets this listing apart is the location. I have never stayed in a location that felt so remote, and yet we were literally minutes from the National Park! Nighttime was blissfully dark and quiet. The hot tub was wonderful. No words really, it is just a magical location. There are portable heaters, but we found we didn't need them in May. Night was pleasantly cool. The perfect location for couples. Might be less ideal for families. No problems with check-in, and owner responded promptly to my questions. Overall I do recommend this property and would definitely stay again.

I fell in love with the Big Island of Hawaii when I first visited in 2004. I love exploring Volcanoes National Park, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, South Point, the Waipio Valley Overlook, and so many other spots on Hawaii - and I want my guests to have the same amazing experience!

Why they chose this property

Volcano Village is very peaceful and quiet. It is a true getaway destination, to really "get away" from fast-paced modern society. Even the Hawaiian rain is warm, gentle, and relaxed.

What makes this property unique

Hale Nahele is a secluded custom chalet. Stained glass, custom tile, high ceilings and windows, and a lanai looking out into the garden and rainforest are waiting to welcome you.
