A very, very, very fine house!

The two cats in the yard might be bobcats strolling by! (It's a reference to the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song for those of you who are too young to know!)

This 900 SF casita was custom built in 2010 on a one-acre lot. The casita is attached to the main house by an open courtyard, a high tower foyer, and covered patio. Come enjoy this beautiful one bedroom guest home located in the scenic Northeast Tucson area. You will have your own direct access to the casita, private patio and your own heating and A/C controls.

The spacious living room/kitchen has exposed beams, granite counter tops, an upgraded 55” 4K television and SW design details evident in the numerous arches and fully tiled floors. A full dresser and closet complete the bedroom. Bathroom has custom tiled shower, and full-size washer and dryer. 9' ceilings, and mountain views throughout the property. The beautiful courtyard and your own covered patio with a Weber gas grill lie just off the living room door. Privacy walls surround our entire 1-acre lot. Five outside sitting areas allow you to fully enjoy the beautiful, sunny, Tucson weather, cozy up around the fire pit, or sit peacefully under the mesquite trees overlooking a meadow.

It's a short 1.3 mile walk or drive to parking for the Bear Canyon entrance to Sabino Park where you have access to iconic hikes such as Seven Falls, Blackett's Ridge, Phoneline trail and many others.

We are 4 miles from the base of Mt. Lemmon with stunning views (Windy Point), numerous hiking trails and restaurants.

You can bicycle right out the door or ride 4 miles to the Tucson bike loop path which offers 100+ miles of paved pathways.

The casita is in a quiet, peaceful setting and yet close to several great restaurants (Tucson is a foodie's delight), grocery stores, and 25 minutes from downtown.

Our casita is well-maintained (Dave is a retired contractor and keeps up with repairs), clean, freshly painted, with updated appliances, dinnerware, cookware and linens. We know what we would like when we stay at a vacation rental, so try to provide the best experience for our guests.

There is much to do and explore in Tucson and our casita will be a tranquil setting for your home base.

Bird watchers delight

Amazing back yard with so many birds. Enjoyed our time on the patio. The casita is very comfortable and well appointed. Very convenient location to all the attractions we were interested, plus groceries and restaurants. Wouldn’t hesitate to book there again.

A very very very fine house indeed

Such a comfortable, clean and well- equipped casita! Loved the hot tub, reading in the zero G chairs and swings. Lots of nature to enjoy and beautiful grounds to relax among. We will be back. David and Ro are great hosts, friendly, accommodating and gave us our space to just be.

A fine house indeed

My husband and I VERY MUCH enjoyed at our stay at this casita. It was just as advertised. The unit had everything we needed and more. The property was just what we were looking for; quiet, natural setting, wildlife and birds to enjoy! The location was well-suited to visiting Sabino canyon and Mt Lemmon. Great food close by as well. We will be back!!!

Just lovely

The casita was one of the best VRBOs we’ve ever stayed in. The furnishings are nice, tasteful and comfortable. Everything was provided we could wish for - paper towels, shampoo, coffee filters to name a few items that are often bring-your-own. The owners are next door but we literally only saw them once as he refilled the bird feeders out back. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub but they looked nice. Location is convenient to shopping and restaurants.

This was an exceptional property. It was comfortable, well-appointed, and welcoming. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. The outdoor area was absolutely lovely. This casita is wonderful. The owners were thoughtful in equipping the home. Everything you could need for cooking in the spacious kitchen to providing laundry detergent for the W&D to the desk area packed with plentiful information on things to see and do in the Tuscon vicinity. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We wish more vacation rentals were as wonderful as this place. The owners respond quickly and are lovely people. We highly recommend this place.

Bear Canyon Bliss

We couldn't resist coming back to the most beautiful Casita in Tucson when we saw there had been a cancellation and a week available that just fitted with our plans to return to the wonderful Sonoran Desert. Hosts Ro and Dave are so friendly and the home is very well-equipped. Great location in a quiet neighbourhood of north-west Tucson, very well-situated for access to Sabino Canyon, the Saguaro National Park (west) and so many other places of interest. I have stayed here many times and for these 2 weeks I planned my dates around their availability. That should tell you more than anything else I would comment on. Attractive, large yard, well stocked, etc, etc, etc.

Backyard haven!

Second time staying at this wonderful casita. We’ve enjoyed getting to know Dave and Ro the past two springs. I love nature so the backyard is perfect for viewing a variety of birds including several species of hummingbirds. The backyard has different seating areas so you can choose sun or shade chairs for reading that book. We also enjoyed the hot tub while watching the sun go down behind the mountains. Restaurants and grocery stores are close by. Hiking in Saguaro National Park isn’t too far and we really enjoyed Agua Caliente Park which reminded me of Florida with all the waterbirds in residence. Definitely will be back to this enjoyable vacation casita!

Would not recommend!

This rental is nice, but be aware that the owner is not honorable. During our stay we found out my mother in law had 2 weeks to live. We had to check out 3 days early and asked, if there was anything they could do on a refund we would appreciate it, but we had to leave regardless. Dave said no problem he would send a check (which I was a little suspicious about since he could have refunded on VRBO, but I figured maybe he's old school) We were grateful that he offered a refund and thanked him. We had to cancel the rest of our trip to Sedona and Winslow as well. When we got home a few weeks later, I reached out to Dave to remind him about the refund. He replied accusing us of lying about why we had to leave. Saying that we were talking about wanting to go to Sedona and asking did we really have an emergency. VRBO knows that we cancelled our other reservations. He also said that we checked out late( we left about 15 min. after c/o) so that made them very suspicious of us. We had a 3 day drive ahead of us, so leaving early in the morning would not have changed that, also we had to wash dry and fold all the linens as per their c/o procedure. He recalled us telling him she had been sick for awhile, and we shouldn't have burdened them with a potential emergency. I let him know she had COPD for a long time but found out she had cancer while we were in AZ. She never told the family because she didn't want anyone to worry. We also sent a copy of the obituary (when we got home) and explained that we did not want to cut our vacation short, but obviously had to. If we had known she had cancer we would have been with her, not travelling to AZ. We gave them an opportunity to apologize, but never got one. They should have been honest from the beginning and told us they couldn't offer a refund. We would have been fine with that. We were astonished that Dave would be so understanding to our faces and then accuse us of lying after the fact. It was disheartening especially at such a sad and stressful time. This place is nice, but just based on the way we were treated we cannot recommend staying here. Be very cautious. We stay at VRBO rentals all the time and have never encountered anything like this. The crazy part is that Dave was acting like a friend while we were there talking with us at length. We are so disappointed at the way this was handled. Dave definitely owes us an apology.

Have stayed here many times and plan my visits to Tucson around their availability. Pleasantly furnished and decorated with marvelous, large yard with a variety of seating areas. I do not use the pool or hot tub, or the Weber grill. Info on desk and magazines in unit on surrounding area and Arizona as a whole.

Why they chose this property

Have you ever rented a place that looked great on the web site only to find it lacking in person? The non-stick cookware is shot, or the shower drains so slowly you stand in dirty water, or there is a bucket in the living room catching a 'small' leak from the unit above? Well, as a traveler all three of these things have happened to me. I can assure you that this will never happen to you at our Casita. We live right next door. The premises are thoroughly inspected between each stay. Any issue that pops up while you are here can be taken care of immediately, or held off until you leave, if that's what you prefer. When you arrive, the home will be ready for you to enjoy every minute of your vacation.

What makes this property unique

As a builder, I am proud of this home. From its unique architectural lines to its elegant southwestern decor, I believe the home is truly a special place. But the truth is, I could build this home anywhere. What really makes this home a complete joy to live in is the location. The home sits on one acre in a quiet, residential neighborhood. There is a solid 6' high privacy wall enclosing the entire backyard. This is about 1/2 acre. While it is very peaceful sitting in the home, the backyard offers a large covered patio with a gas grill, a water fountain with a bench, plus two other sitting areas with a mesquite tree canopy. To top it all off, the 'Tucson Table' area is tranquility at it's finest. Sit back, or lie back on the zero gravity chairs, and listen to the wind tickle the mesquite trees, hummingbirds proclaiming their territory, and the coyotes announcing the sunset - or sunrise - if you are up that early. We have spent many an evening watching the sunset across the majestic Catalina Mountains. With all the nooks and crannies, it never grows old.
