The Hobbit House was exactly what we needed! Perfect stay, so relaxing and having water access is key! Host really thinks of everything and all the amenities that you don't get with other rentals. I'll stay here often.

This was our second year staying at this property for a long weekend extended family trip. It is a well stocked unit with exceptional views and amenities (optional pontoon rental, life jackets available, fire pit for smores, a 5-10 minute drive to a couple restaurants, swim platform, close to indiana beach, etc).

Our family had a wonderful stay October 15–18, 2026! The property was clean and welcoming, and we especially appreciated that it was pet-friendly so our dog could join us.Kelly was a gracious and accommodating host. Her communication was excellent—she answered all our questions quickly and was very flexible, making everything easy from start to finish.The deck was a highlight of our stay. The lake views were beautiful, especially at sunset, and we enjoyed a great family barbecue out there. Sharing a meal together with that gorgeous backdrop made for some special memories.Thank you, Kelly, for helping make our family getaway such a wonderful experience. We would happily stay again and highly recommend this property!

Kelly was so personable and responsive. She catered to our needs and was very responsive. The house was absolutely adorable. Very charming and a wonderful vey of the water. Close to everything and very welcoming! It will definitely be a great place to revisit in the future.

The Hobbit House was amazing. It was a perfect little lake house where my friends and I were able to relax. There were little welcome snacks when we arrived, which was a nice touch. Thank you for the perfect weekend.

This house is stocked and took a lot of the work out of staying at a lake house. We couldn’t have been happier, and Kelly was fantastic to work with. I really appreciated that seat cushions had storage bins to keep them dry so, even though we had a ton of rain over July 4th weekend, it didn’t spoil my morning coffee sitting out on the dock. My family and I had a wonderful time.

Perfect Family Getaway

This was the perfect place for our weekend away at Lake Shafer! The location was perfect, the house was so cute and clean and so many personal touches by the host that made us feel so welcome!! I would highly recommend this house and we will be back!

Another great stay!!!

We stayed 7 days. We enjoyed swimming off the dock. Grilling out and family time. Sunsets on the lake. Boat rides around the lake and Wave-runner rentals. Kelly is a wonderful host!

Quiet and cozy weekend.

Kelly was an excellent host always providing immediate communication. We appreciated all of the extra amenities provided and the place was spotless. The beds were alos very comfy! We will definitely stay again!

Wonderful and Peaceful Stay

The host is super accommodating and responsive. The lake house is well stocked with amenities. It's a lovely well maintain home. The rooms were cozy and it was nice to be off the beaten path just a little.

We have stayed at several different lake front properties in Monticello, and this one, by far, is the best! So clean! So well appointed! So welcoming and comfortable! There were so many extras included, I honestly felt like I was staying at a family member's home for the weekend. Usually, rental properties have hand me down furniture, appliances, etc., which I understand and I am fine with, but this home had high end everything. The decor was so nice. You were allowed to use everything - outdoor fire table (smores fixings included), a BBQ grill that was so clean and worked perfectly (I'm used to opening it and being like, nope, not using that!), matching, beautiful outdoor furniture, beds that were so comfortable that my guests were taking pictures of the brands so they could get them for themselves! I was able to include our pups and the deck and outside area is set up perfectly for them. They are able to be a part of the family outside without being tied down on the huge deck. There was plenty of room to leash and walk them. I usually spend so much time tending to the dogs that I feel like it's not worth it, but it was like being at home here! The layout of the house was great, if you are an early to bed, early to rise person, you can sleep soundly as the bedrooms are upstairs and completely separate from the living areas. The bathrooms were beautiful, water pressure was great and, again, so many extras! The owners were so responsive too,And... the view! Amazing!!!

Long weekend

We were looking to disconnect and spend quality on the lake. Beautiful property, charming decor, well stocked for any cooking/baking needs, and very dog friendly! We loved the boat also and it allowed us to see all of Lake Shafer.
