About this property
Old farm house in hamlet “Les Granges” with view across fields and mountains
Bouvières is a small village with a population around 150 people. The characteristic old farm, “Les Granges” with his barnes, is nowadays a hamlet with 3 households. At one end of the hamlet you find the gîte (our holiday house), with a private garden. Les Granges is situated a short way up the west slope of the valley, 500m from the village, with a view across the fields and the mountains. The house, fits 7 people, contains a living/dining room with a woodstove, a big kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, big bathroom with shower, bath, sink and toilet. There are 3 bedrooms with 1 double-bed (1.40-2.00m), 3 single-beds (0.90-2.00m) and 2 single-beds (0.80-2.00m). The dining room connects to the terrace and garden. If cycling or walking is your preferred recreation this is the right place; walking tracks abound, from a half hour stroll around the village to a full day slog up one of a number of surrounding peaks. The Drôme is a beautiful district. Close to the Provence at the south and the Alpes at the north of it, makes this area very interesting. High mountains, big gorges, lots of lavender, sunflower, wine fields and the charming villages with local markets make you want to stay here forever.
No pets allowed in the house. Mobile phone: 4G
Dinner or breakfast can be orded in Les Granges and served in the gite.

A beautifully restored farmhouse at the end of a short lane surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. A very calm and relaxed location. Lots of interesting unspoilt small towns to visit nearby. Great location for hiking, cycling and wild swimming. Fantastic hosts who could not be more welcoming. We will visit again.

Armin and Angela are very nice and quiet people. When they left, the gite was in perfect state. I would very recommand this couple, without any doubts.

Probably the most recreating spot in the world ...
Well-equiped, clean property in beautiful surrounding far away from any commerce and industry. Located on 640 m above sea-level at the end of a steep dead-end way the farmhouse is surrounded by grassland. 500 meters away you can find a small shop with restaurant for getting your croissants and baguette in the morning; supermarkets are located in Nyons, Valreas or Dieulefit 20 km away. A hiking-trail tangents the site and leads to the upper crest. In the large garden several seats invite you for rest - in the shadow or under open sun. Having BBQ or sitting around the fire in the evening is very exciting, while the enormous number of stars above you twinkle. Inside both sleeping-rooms and the living-room are big enough for two couples. The kitchen is reasonable and in the separate stable you can find a washing-machine; here you can store beverages or bicycles too. The site is a perfect starting-point for bicycle-excursions through the drome-highlands ... or just to relax from the hard business-days at home. We surely will come back as soon as possible and thank again the most friendly hirer!

About the host
Hosted by Froukje Frohn
In 2007 I moved from Holland to the mountains of the Drôme, in Bouvières. Since then, each year from April till October I receive guests from all over Europe. It's a joy to live in this beautiful landscape.
Why they chose this property
The hills, mountains, fields of lavender and little rivers make this area so beautiful. The variety of colours in each season!
What makes this property unique
This house is located in a typical French hamlet, built in 1840, in the foothills of the Alpes. It is surrounded by fields and it has a view over the valley. It is a quiet and cosy place. You can also order dinner or breakfast. I love to cook, preferably vegetarian, with local products and vegetables from our garden.
