Seafront cottage with orchard and garden

Fully equipped, comfortable seafront cottage, 2 houses fully equipped in two levels, on 3 acres of land, planted with orchards, vines and flowers. A peaceful place in the countryside, ideal for families with children, groups of friends up to 13 guests in a comfortable way or anyone who wants a quiet base to explore Athens and Evia or just to relax. The main house is on a gentle rise, 50m from the sea, with panoramic views of the sea, the island opposite and the surrounding mountains. Just below ,almost at the grounds level the second house recently reconstructed with big windows around in each room. There are places to eat, swim, or go out at night nearby. The large cool & inviting verandas are an ideal place to spend time, watch the sunset, chat or play table tennis. In winter you can sit in front of a fire and watch the clouds over the water. On arrival you immediately feel a sense of relaxation, yet have easy access to any city activity or convenience. Just outside the garden gate is a rocky beach, ideal for private swimming in a clean environment, where the sun sets into the sea. Nearby is a sandy beach with umbrellas, volleyball, beach bars and a play area for children.


Other things to note
• Check and follow our Fb page Seafront Cottage Alykes, to get more photos and notifications.

• We would like to have access to visit the place every 3 days more or less in order to water the plants or feed Pablo, a wonderful friendly dog, which is kept at its place, near the front gate. Pablo can also be your friend during your staying. Most of our guests love to have him with them. If not, it's not a problem, he can stay into his place, next to the front gate.

• An electricity fee might be applicable in case that your consumption exceeds 30kw/day. We will check the meter together on the first day of your arrival and before checking out. 30 kw/day corresponds to the usual needs for electricity.

Great accomodation and great hosts

Dimitra and Nikolas were really helpful when asked any question. The house was great, very spacious and a perfect location. The beach in front of the house is perfect, even though it is a stony beach. The dogs, Pablo and Lulu, gave us a very secure feeling and they were great to be with. We loved our stay. Thanks for having us!

Great chill place for a group to relax

Great place for a quiet and relaxing holiday for a group of friends or family who want to be by themselves. You can walk out of the garden and go straight into the water. We had a dog with us and she enjoyed all the courtyard and garden. Nice barbecue facilities. All the commodities to cook your meals if you want to do that. We picked figs, lemons and limes for the trees! Very nice hosts, very hospitable. Highly recommend it!

Beautiful location and property

Stayed with my family and friends for a week in August. The place is lovely and the view and access to the water is great. We enjoyed our time and the owner gave great suggestions for places to eat and swim. We visited several sandy beaches nearby but we also swam and snorkeled in the water directly across from the house. Recommend water shoes for that area but nothing beats walking down the driveway and getting in the water. The house was great for our needs and it was nice to have air conditioning and a place to hang out during the heat of the day. Grocery, restaurants and beaches are a very close drive.

A wonderful vacation in a wonderful house

We had a wonderful stay in the family house of Dimitra this july. The house is divided into two parts, one is up the stairs with a spectacular view on the sea and one is downstairs. We were with two families, so this was perfect to have a little privacy when we wanted. The garden is typically Greek and you can sit in many places. When the wind is blowing from the sea, the hammock is highly recommended. Very relaxing. The house had everything we needed, we could even use extra towels for the beach. And everything was very clean when we arrived. Dimitra and her family are very hospitable. We could ask Dimitra anything and she helped us out with tips for sightseeing, secluded beaches, good restaurants, etc. The two dogs Pablo and Lulu were a big bonus!!! We loved to let the dogs out in the garden at night and sit with them. They are very friendly dogs and we enjoyed cuddling with them very much. Absolutely fun was walking down the driveway and jumping in the sea for some snorkling, right in front of the house. And an amazing sunset we could see from the top terrace every evening. BBQ was also great to do in the garden. Thanks Dimitra and family for a great vacation!

Wonderful Experience

Dimitra was so helpful with everything. The beach bars and restaurants are a short nice walk away from the house. The dog, Pablo, is so sweet and was wonderful with our 2, 3 & 4 year old children. We had a large group stay and the treehouse and playground equipment was great for the kids. There is air conditioning in both houses and everything worked well and was as advertised. Many thanks to Dimitra and her family for helping us have a great trip.

Beautiful and Relaxing!

Everyone in my Gal Get Away Group had dropped jaws upon arriving at the Villa. The water view, the smell of jasmine and figs, the vines, open feel of the house, and the security of the location, all combined made for a place that we are planning to return to (with our families) if the Dimitra will have us! It is definitely a location that would be great to take kids too, with the tree house, hammocks, different beaches all in walking distances! You almost do not need to leave the area to have an AMAZING trip! There may have been tears shed as we waited till the last minutes to finish packing and loading the cars, none of us wanted to leave! One in our group had to take online tests for school while on vacation; Dimitra went a step above and ensured the internet connection would be strong and work for her! From our friend: "The host was very sweet and considerate. The family provided a good internet connection so I could do schoolwork for my college class while visiting Greece." Dimitra also stayed in contact with me during the trip to see how things were going, which was VERY nice! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this rental! If you are looking for an amazing price and a place to just let your nerves relax, this is the place to do it!

Thank you Dimitra for having us to stay in your beautiful house. The location is amazing - you can walk straight into the sea to watch the sunset, and after dark can see the underwater bioilluminescence. The nearby town has everything we needed, and you can even get Gyros delivered to the house! The house itself is well equipped and the garden is so stunning. We will never forget relaxing with music on the hammocks into the night. The nearby island is stunning and well worth a visit to watch the sunset, and have an amazing cove all to yourself. Pablo is great fun, he is a very chilled out and happy dog. All these amazing things have made our week in alykes a time we will never forget. Thanks very much!

Un lieu exceptionnel!

La maison et le jardin sont très spacieux avec plusieurs coins pour s’attabler, des hamacs, une balancelle. La maison est très bien équipée, il ne manque rien dans la cuisine! Draps et serviettes de toilette sont fournis. Les plages sont toutes proches. Nous y avons passé un séjour de rêve à 12 personnes. Merci pour l’accueil.

Absolutely Fabulous

We spent 11 days in this perfectly charming house in May 2016. The house had everything that we needed, very well equipped, more than enough space, very comfortable, beautifully decorated in keeping with it's Greek history, fantastic views and impeccably clean. The only downside I can think of is that we didn't have long enough! One of the reasons we choose the house was for it's location in terms of accessibility to the beaches (lovely sandy beaches!), mountains and historical sites. We were not disappointed and found it an easy and enjoyable drive to all of the above. The local people were so lovely...wonderful staff in the bakery, most helpful pharmacist and nicest fruit seller with his always present ciggarette... we loved them all! The owner of the house Dimitra and her Dad Mr Marcos were so very nice and so very friendly and helpful from start to finish providing us with all the information that we needed. I would absolutely recommend this house to friends and relatives and anyone wishing to stay in a quiet location within easy reach of so many of the wonderful places with the most lovely hosts. The pictures on the website really don't give the place true justice it is even more beautiful in reality. The dogs are lovely and our daughter just fell in love with Kanellos :) We really enjoyed every moment of our stay and would very much like to return one day!

Unique place for vacations !

We made the arrangements to rent the house a year in advance. We wanted to organize our stay for two different consecutive situations: two weeks for our family (a total of 15 people including parents, children and grandchildren) and one week with friends (two couples and two singles). The house thoroughly fulfilled our expectations for both purposes. The property is warm, spacious, country-style and very well equipped. It is a sea front house located relatively close to the airport, far enough from crowded touristic places (about 10 Km away from Chalkis and 5 minutes from Drosia, two charming little villages). From the grape wine-covered front veranda, the scenery is just superb: it is splendid to have breakfast looking to the deep blue Mediterranean sea. The pleasant owners are available to comply requirements 24 hours a day.

A beautiful estate!

We rented this wonderful house for five weeks and loved it. The house and garden are spacious. The veranda just lovely. The garden offering lemons, lime, figs, almonds and different herbs. We invited friends from home to come stay with us which was accepted by the owners. Queries was handled fast and friendly. Easy to make contact by sms, facebook and email. The location was just perfect! A privet beach by the house, perfect for snorkling, other secluded beaches nearby or sunbeds and restaurants just 5 minutes away. Only an hour drive to Athens or 15min to Chalkida. Drosia offers restaurants, foodmarkets,cafés, butchers and a fishmarket. We also enjoyed taking trips across Evia and up in the mountains. Delphi was exceptionally beautiful. It was hard leaving, especially the two wonderful dogs who everybody came to love. We know you´'ll enjoy your stay here! The Swedes.

spacious and cozy house right on the seashore

My family enjoyed staying at this place very much. The house is spacious, well-equipped. There is a wonderful garden, barbecue area, children's playground in a large area around the house. It is very quiet around. We decided not to go to public beaches, we swam right in front of the house. The bottom is rocky, but that's not a problem if you use aqua shoes. The water in the bay is very clear. The owners provided us with detailed information about places of interest around, and were always in touch and very attentive to our needs.

Great place to have a family vacation

We visit this cottage second year in a row and we are planning to get there in 2016 as well. No matter do you want to spend some time with your friends or family, this is a great place to do that. The house is just great, it has all utilities that you need, location is fantastic, the beach is fabulous specially for small children. The price is right and Drosia is very nice location for quick one day trip to Athens, Delphi or to visit some islands. You can enjoy peace and quite of a village house and have some fun and see some new stuff at the same time.

So much more than just a holiday cottage

If you want to spend your time far from the foreign crowds, this might be something for you. The moment you drive from the road along the rocky sea shore through the front gate, holiday feeling takes over. You will find yourself in a gorgeous garden with olive, palm and (delicious) fig trees, At the end of the lane, the lovely cottage (or rather two well equiped cottages) welcomes its guests. We stayed for a week in august with the whole family (seven adults, four young children) and had a wonderful time. We just loved dining and relaxing on the shady terraces (what a beautiful sunset!) and swimming and snorkeling in the sea directly in front of the cottage (with swimming shoes). The kids enjoyed the brand new playground, the dogs stayed in their cages and were not a concern at all. Far from the crowds does not mean in the middle of nowhere. Everything you might need you find in the village of Drosia (10 minutes driving distance). Some Greek highlights are within reach. Athens is one hour away, Delphi two (if you go, you should make a stop in the wonderful Hosios Loukas monastery). The isle of Evia is nearby, but bear in mind travelling the winding roads takes time. We want to thank the hosts for their hospitality and help. You were lovely.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful, convenient location

The location of this cottage is perfect. Direct access to a lovely peaceful stretch of coast, a very short drive to a small town (Drosia) with all the facilities you could require, another 10 minutes and you are in Chalkida the principle city of the province of Evia with an array of beautiful shops and restaurants. There are very few foreign tourists in the area, and the local residents are exceptionally warm and friendly. From Chalkida you can catch the frequent rail service to Athens. Also within reasonable driving distance for a day trip are such delights as Delphi, Marathon, Agios Loukas and Thermopylae as well as the peaceful unspoilt island of Evia. As well as sightseeing, you will want to budget some time for enjoying the cottage. Anyone who (like us) has a passion for sea swimming and snorkelling is in for a treat. The rocky coast outside the front gate offers safe access (with sea shoes) to the divinely clear, warm sea. Currents are gentle and sealife plentiful. There are also sandy bays within easy walking distance. The cottage is fantastically well equipped with everything you could need. There is plenty of opportunity for outdoor living with several beautiful shady terraces, an outdoor cooking area and hammocks. Lovely fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs abound in the garden and we enjoyed cooking with them. Three very friendly dogs live at the property, which was great though they are a little boisterous so if you have small kids you may want to speak to the owner about arrangements for the dogs. Your hosts are a lovely family who are at pains to make your stay enjoyable. The owners drop in every other day to feed the dogs and water the garden, but will arrange a time with you and are very considerate of guests' privacy. Helpful information is provided regarding local restaurants and facilities. Highlights of our visit (apart from the sea!) were Delphi, Ramnous (a beautiful unspoilt ancient acropolis by the sea - we were the only visitors at the huge and atmospheric site as it's a little off the beaten track) and a fabulous (and good value) spa day at Edipsos. And of course the wonderous city of Athens. We would urge you to go and support tourism in Greece at present. The rumours you may have heard are nonsense. A great value holiday in Greece is still possible and you will be welcomed warmly by everyone you meet.

Charming Greek place

If you want to spend your holidays in the real Greece, not among the crowds of tourists - you should try this!.. What a wonderful place! We fell in love from the first minute we so it and remember fondly to this day ... Come here for your holiday - and you will see a cozy old home, beautiful landscaped gardens, terraces entwined with grape - we practically lived on one of them, having our meals while enjoying the magnificent views of the mountains and the sunset over the sea. And of course the "private" beach just outside the gate - what a pleasure to wake up in the morning and just take a dip in the sea! Beautiful sandy beach just a 10 minutes’ walk - with many bars and restaurants and vibrant nightlife in the evenings. You should have a car during your staying – so you will be able to ride to the nearest town with an old fortress and drawbridge, a nice promenade with cafes and restaurants, where you can relax and watch the local life, passing by you, shopping and many other things. And of course a special impression you get from the owners of the house, their incredible hospitality, dignity and warmth. Not enough words to convey how they took care of us! We are very grateful for making our staying so pleasant. Enjoy your vacation!
