About this property
Elegant apartment in the heart of the historical area
Our property is an elegant apartment of 72 square meters, with 3 adjoining rooms, it has 2 double bedrooms, a large living area with a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a laundry room, and a small terrace with a very nice view. Bedrooms can be used both as double and as single for one or two people. In one of the two rooms there's a sofa-bed for one more people.
Il Canzoniere is located in the heart of the historic center of Arezzo, in the upper part of “Corso Italia”, in the beautiful medieval “Palazzo Altucci”, dating back to 1200 (pedestrian area). During the restructuring, we choose to combine walls and stone arches, traditional ceilings with wooden beams with a décor sober and contemporary. Il Canzoniere is just a few steps from the “Piazza Grande”, the beautiful medieval church of “St. Maria della Pieve” (whose unique architecture attracts visitors from all over the world) and the “Basilica of S. Francesco” (where you can admire the beautiful frescoes of 'La Leggenda della Vera Croce' by Piero della Francesca). Just a few meters there is the birthplace of Francesco Petrarca, from whose famous poem, 'Il Canzoniere', named after our property.

Great everything! location was great, the host was very accommodating and readily available. the place was very cozy and clean. I would look for this apartment again!
Could not have been better! The old- city location made us feel like locals, and we quickly identified favorite coffee shops, bars and restaurants. We easily walked to the train station for a day trip to Florence. Free parking was reasonably close, facilitating a day visit to Siena. Arezzo is a delightful secret, and the host could not have been more helpful. Total 5 star!

Thank you so much again for coming, it was a big pleasure to meet you. And thank you so much for such a good review!
Beautiful spacious 2 bedroom apartment right where you WANT to be while in Arezzo. Walk to everywhere: Roman ruins, Medici castle, museums and churches. Many great restaurants around every corner. Recommend Tratoria Mazzoni for family run Tuscan food heaven. We stayed for a month.
We stayed here for three nights and it was ideal for my husband & me. Our bed was comfortable, the shower was great & the kitchen well equipped. Plus, we could walk to everything easily. Nice restaurants, shops and coffee bars just steps from the apartment.

The apartment was excellent. There was plenty of room and it was clean and well equipped. The kitchen has way more space than most Italian kitchens. The bathroom had plenty of storage in the vanity for toiletries and the shower was large.Stephan is an excellent host who clearly wants guests to enjoy their experience. The apartment is centrally located easy walk to cafes, restaurants and attractions in a restricted driving zone. If you are driving, parking is not close by but Stephan came when we were checking out and took our luggage & us to the car. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends & family.
This was the best place we stayed in Italy! The apartment was so beautiful! Tastefully renovated and perfect for my husband and I and two daughters. It has a modern kitchen and bathroom with two good sized bedrooms. It is right in the heart of the historic centre, but still private and quiet. Stefano was the perfect host and met us on arrival. I thoroughly recommend this gorgeous property.

Enjoyed our stay in the heart of Arezzo in Stefano's lovingly renovated family home. Such a beautiful blend of old and modern with a well-stocked kitchen, great bathroom, a private elevator, back balcony and located in the buzzy part of the town with restaurants, shopping, and history just around the corner. Couldn't have picked a better spot. Appreciated the hospitality of Stefano and family.
This apartment, which was very clean and comfortable, is right in the center of the old town, close to the sites, restaurants, shops, and the monthly antique fair. You can walk to the train station. Just the best location. And the apartment is very quiet. Stefano was a kind and helpful host. We really enjoyed our stay.
We just finished nine glorious dys in Stefano's apartment in the center of Arezzo. The location is perfect. Just an easy 12-minute walk to the train and bus stations and an even shorter distance to all of the major attractions in Arezzo. The apartment is clean, comfortable and everything in it works perfectly. Stefano was a wonderful host. We highly recommend his apartment.

Thank you so much! It was a big pleasure to make you feel comfortable.
The apartment was exactly how it was described, in the heart of what is a great city. We had not been to Arezzo before and used as a base to visit Tuscany. What we found was a delightful city with few tourists and wonderful people. Stefano is a great host and the apartment had everything needed. Thank you Stefano for opening your place and your wonderful city to us.

Stefano was very helpful. I had everything I needed. The location is very convenient. It was only a short walk from the train station. The town is very easy to walk and very safe. The apartment has a small balcony and a lovely window looking down on the main street. Modern and updated
The apartment is in a building that was built in 1200!
The building has been in the hosts family for many decades - it has had the most sensitive renovation.
There is a lift which is such a luxury and both kitchen and bathroom are modern and work extremely well.
Our host Stefano was so warm and friendly and made himself completely available.
Arezzo is a simply beautiful city with not too many tourists and crowds - the apartment is exceptional .
We loved it and would definitely stay again!❤️
Great property, just like the pictures. Central to everything you want to see in Arezzo; perfect spot to stay and do day trips from. We also enjoyed the local food and drinks very much. Lots of great people and people watching. Stefano is such a gracious and kind host, very easy to communicate with. We are out everyday so we didn’t really use the kitchen but we did get good use from the little washer, very convenient to help you pack less. The bathroom/shower is larger than most in properties of similar size, which is nice. We are looking forward to our next stay soon!!

Awesome place!
The owner went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. He drove us to get out luggage so we wouldn’t have to carry it to the apartment though the streets. He also called a taxie for us on the day we were leaving. Those little things can make a difference. The apparent was beautiful and supper clean. We couldn’t ask for more!! Thank you!

Great place in the heart of Arezzo
This apartment was exactly as described and in the heart of all activity. It was very close (5-10 min walk) to almost every museum, park and fortress in the old part of town. So easy to walk up the sloping streets to the park and fortress overlooking the city and to numerous shops and restaurants. Front bedroom looked right out on the Corso Italia and all the activity (Friday-Sunday nights especially). Back bedroom with small balcony looked over gardens and was much quieter. Everything worked well, including WiFi and laundry facilities. Loved Arezzo with the few tourists (compared to Florence and Cinque Terre). We could walk right up to the paintings and exhibits in the museums. Highly recommend this apartment and Arezzo.

Clean and Comfortable in a fantastic location!
This apartment is a beauty, Good size and well layed out and very clean. It is located on the Main Street with a lot of activity, We used the smaller bedroom with the balcony in the back of the apartment. There was no road noise at all. The weather was in the 60s, nice for early November, so we were able to have afternoon vino and snacks on the balcony. The apartment is on an upper floor but there is a lift. The owner, Stefano, is very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, cafes and things to see. The apartment is equipped with a washing machine that works but it took six hours to do a small load - probably operator error - but operating instructions would be helpful.
We highly recommend this apartment and owner - it will be on our list for return trips.

Bartolomeo and his wife are very special persons, very communicative, enthusiastic of life and funny; it was a rare pleasure to spend some time with them talking.
They are very polite and totally respectful of the apartment...I'm so sorry for some trouble they had with the washing machine...I'll fix it!
Absolutely recommanded guests!

We spent almost two weeks in Arezzo and thoroughly enjoyed the flat. Plenty of space for two of us. The location was perfect, near restaurants and close enough to the train station. Our host Stefano was very helpful, solved our water issue when there was no hot water. We highly recommend this apartment.
Property was as it was represented on VRBO. Very clean with updated amenities. Excellent WiFi. Very good location. Can’t park in the inner walls but Stefano willing to help transfer luggage. Would recommend for a quiet stay with less crowds.
The apartment was very well kept and clean. It is also in an awesome location- close to shops, restaurants etc. Stefano was very helpful and helped us with reservations while we were in town. Thank you very much- would definitely recommend! We hope to return again
From the meeting up with Stefano, so, so patient waiting for us to meet him at the public parking, to all the time he spend assisting us with the move-in, it was excellent. We loved the super clean, modern but charming antiquity of the apartment. We were in Arezzo to attend the medieval jousting competition of the regions, and the parades were right outside our front top floor window. Piazza Grande was around the corner. Really wonderful. We also checked out many of his recommended eateries and bars. Great host, and his girlfriend!
Quartiere di Porta Crucifera exceeded expectations. The apartment was well-designed and well-maintained. It was a pleasure to stay in the apartment and within easy walking distance to historical sites, the landmark Sugar fashion complex, restaurants, and transportation. We were fortunate to arrange a tour of the country-side with our host Stefano— the day remains one of the highlights of our 6 week tour of Italy! The next time we visit Tuscany, we will make Quartiere di Porta Crucifera our home base and take day trips to Florence and beyond and hopefully arrange another tour of a different valley with Stefano.

About the host
Hosted by Stefano Santoni
I'm basicly a musician but, at the same time, I'm doing many other activities as graphic designer, Then I decided to renew this apartment, owned from my family since 1950, and rent it to turists. I sterted in october 2013, from the beginning I've always done my best to give to my hosts the feeling of being at home. As an artist I believe that, to make sense in our lifes, everything we do for a living has to be done with much love... That's all! Stefano
