Why Mermaid Team chose Arch Cape
Arch Cape is an incredibly beautiful location with easy access to Cannon Beach and Manzanita, but stays quiet even during peak season times.
What makes this House unique
Unique artistic elements, Dad is a wizard with metal, and you will see his artistic vision throughout the cabin.

Peaceful place with an ocean view
My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our anniversary in early September 2019. It was our third visit to the Cannon Beach area and this was our favorite accommodation. The house is perched up on a hill which provides a wonderful view of the ocean (but not the beach) above the trees from both of its decks. Each night we watched the sun set either into the ocean or its thick bank of offshore marine fog. The house is in a well-kept development of approximately a dozen homes and surrounded by mature trees. It is quiet and peaceful with only a five-minute walk to the beach and a ten-minute drive into town. The beach between Arch Cape and Hug Point is beautiful and less crowded than Cannon Beach, and there were moments in the early morning and late afternoon when we had it to ourselves. Finally, the photos on the website accurately depict the home but do not do justice to its location.
Great Location, Beautiful Views
This place is very comfortable for four people. We did use the open up sofa and it’s what you’d expect it to be. Ocean view is beautiful from the top deck. Hot tub was clean and ready to use. Very well stocked kitchen if you are planning to cook. Walk to the ocean is no more than 10 minutes- not idea if you have little ones and lots of stuff to tow. Arch Cape was a perfect location for us-quiet and more private but Cannon Beach, with all you need in restaurants, groceries, and things to do, is just a few minutes up the road. What a gorgeous area of the country!!
Not as close as it appears
There are lots of great reviews for this house, but we were very disappointed, especially considering the price we paid - there were other options at the same price point that would have been much better. The house is quite a ways from the beach (the sunset photo is misleading and has been zoomed a lot). It is actually on the east side of Hwy 101 and the beach view is limited. You can hear the surf, but the highway is louder. The house itself is small and feels cramped inside. I cant imagine how it could be comfortable for more than 4 people. The spiral stairs are difficult and I would guess a hazard for many people. The main bedroom is open to the main level, so no privacy. The upstairs bathroom (where the 2 bedrooms are)_does not have a shower and the tub is too small for an adult. The kitchen, though well equipped, is very tight. Many of the finishes throughout are jerry-rigged and ill-fitting. On the positive side, the house was clean and the towels and bedding were good. The hot tub worked as expected.
We are sorry to hear you were disappointed in your stay with us. We strive to make our home an awesome experience, and we feel we hit that mark for almost everyone. Rather than respond to some of the claims in your review, many of which we (and many of our clients would) feel were unfair, we would just like to say this:
We are very proud of the Mermaid, and your experience is not what we hear from the overwhelming majority of our clients. In fact, we have often been told that it was one of the best places in which they have ever stayed. I guess you can't hit a home run every time. We wish you the best in the future.
This was a beautiful property with just the right amount of quiet and close proximity to on going’s! We had the most wonderful vacation and enjoyed every night out on the decks. Our two year old bought the trail walk to the water was the best part! The kitchen was better stocked than my own and made eating in a few nights, easy and most enjoyable! If you haven’t been before, this area of the world is simply magical. Thank you!
If you want to relax and be able to see and hear the ocean then this is the place for you.
We very much enjoyed our stay here and would stay again if we were ever in the area. Everything in their ad is true: ocean views(!!), quiet, unique with beach access. The view from both second story rooms was simply perfect and the hot tub was excellent after a day a way hiking. Perfect ending to a day. There are just two things that I would point out that other people might have an issue with: There is no cell service at the house with ATT. With the wifi, you are able to imessage and facetime, but calling does not work. That was not an issue for me, but I do know that some people might want to be a little more connected. And the stairs are steep. We ended up leaving our luggage on the lower level because I did not trust myself to get it up and down the stairs. Neither of these issues would be enough to stop me from staying here again as this place was simply perfect otherwise. I just like to include things I think other people might care about. :) I would also like to say how pretty this neighborhood is and how well cared for it seems. The path to the beach was well maintained and the little bridges that you crossed were in perfect condition. The neighborhood itself is quiet, which is a plus in my opinion. If you want to relax and be able to see and hear the ocean then this is the place for you.
Fun family weekend getaway
Stayed at the Arch Cape home for Easter weekend with our 9, 6 and 4 year old. Walk down the path to the beach was fast and fun. Beach was relatively secluded so it felt like our own. Comfortable beds, great home for our Easter weekend.
The Arch cape beach offers incredible hikes with tidepools and unique geographic formations. When the tide is out, one can often hike on the beach North around hug point all the way to cannon beach.
