With stunning ocean views, elegant style, and artistic elements, The Mermaid is truly unique. Nestled in Arch Cape, about 70 miles west of Portland, this tranquil getaway affords easy access to the beach along a nature trail. Once upon a time a live album (Arch Cape Sessions) was recorded in the living room, writers have holed up for weeks on end to focus on their craft, and families and artists have come to the Mermaid to refresh, relax, and reflect.

When the tide is out, wander North around various sandstone outcroppings to Hug Point, Arcadia Beach, even all the way to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. Wander South around the Cape and you will find the Arches for which Arch Cape is named, and some exquisite tidepools. Fine dining and shopping are minutes away in Cannon Beach to the North, and Manzanita to the South.

The Mermaid sleeps 6, offers a full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, washer/dryer, large upper and lower decks, and a hot tub with an ocean view.

Everything was great! Rose was a gracious host and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice getaway, spiral staircase could be a challenge for older guests but kitchen is ready if you bring the food.Hope to visit again!

Second time we stayed at this place. Clean, great location, all the cooking “gadgets” you could ever need. Short, easy walk to the beach and a quick drive to Cannon Beach or Seaside. Communication with owners was good. A lot of good hiking trails not far from the house with some spectacular views. If you haven’t visited this part of the country, it’s worth the trip.

Girls beach weekend for the sand castle contest

We had an amazing weekend. Great dining and shopping in Cannon Beach and Seaside. The house was perfect for us. We would have loved the hot tub but the rain was a deterrent. Would definitely stay again.

Arch Cape Get-a-way

We hit the Oregon Coast with sunshine and no wind. The house is perfect - well kept, everything worked, comfy bed, and beautiful view of the ocean. The path to the beach was remarkable. Great stay, great home.

Perfect Long Weekend

My wife and I stayed 3 amazing nights here. The house is nicely appointed, the kitchen fully stocked, checkin/out was a breeze and communication with the owners was awesome. The best part was the view, from the kitchen while cooking dinner, the lower patio for coffee, and from the upper deck hottub. The forest surrounding the neighborhood is lush and gorgeous. The sound of the ocean was just what we needed. The location is perfect, with plenty of restaurant and grocery choices between Cannon Beach and Manzanita.There is plenty of good hiking in the area if you are in to that, we really like Oswald State Park. Overall, perfect trip and perfect house, wish it had been longer. Definitely plan on going back!

Can’t even begin to thank Rose and the hospitality she showed us coming back. We loved being able to relax and recoup from our daily travels up and down the Oregon coast in this beautiful home. The artistic details and cozy furniture really made this place feel like a home away from home. I hope many more travelers will come to experience the joy and serenity we did when staying here.

Great view from second level

Spiral staircase was one negative. And that the shower was not on the same level as the hot tub, therefore making it quite precarious to rinse off before or after use. Perhaps add a hand held shower nozzle to upstairs tub?

We enjoyed our Mermaid stay

The house is beautiful with a view of the ocean. The hot tub on the deck was very nice. I recommend the beach to the north at low tide.

Beautiful view, lovely home

The home was great, just as advertised. It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the view from the back deck was beautiful. It was the perfect place to explore the northern coast.

Great neighborhood, amazing beach

The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The walk to the amazing beach is easy. The hot tub is just what we needed to relax. But the house could use a good cleaning.

Beautiful Getaway

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful, unique home in Arch Cape. The kitchen is well appointed, everything was very clean and comfortable. It's a short 5 min drive to Cannon Beach and is quiet and relaxing, away from the busyness and tourism of town. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings, listening to the ocean waves, and took several nice walks down a short path to the beach. Just lovely! The owners were very sweet and accommodating in our communications, and we look forward to another vacation there!

Beautiful

It was spacious yet cozy enough for a two person getaway. Beautiful views and location to go to the beach or into town, or cook with a lookout to the trees and ocean. Communication was wonderful. The hot tub was perfect and was overall a magical stay.

Unique house, great location.

The Mermaid House offers privacy and solitude with easy access to Arch Cape beach. Cannon Beach is just down the road, as is Manzanita. We filled a full day just exploring the Arch Cape Beach and Hug Point. Great tide pools and scenery. Mermaid House was simply awesome. The Thompson’s.

Quiet location

Very quiet location just off of the highway. Upper and lower decks are wonderful. Very relaxing to sit in the sun and enjoy the ocean view. Sunsets from the deck are beautiful! You can hear the ocean waves at night. House was spotless. Kitchen is very well stocked.

Unique spot in Arch Cape!

Loved the view, beautiful walk to the beach, and well apportioned home. We were three generations and this home suited us well. If any of us had had challenge with stairs it would have been different as the spiral stairs up to the second floor were tricky. One of the two upstairs bedrooms is more of a loft as it’s open to the downstairs on one wall. Hot tub was wonderful and we enjoyed the fire pit. The biggest downside for us was there no barbecue to be found but we were guessing they maybe were replacing an old one as we saw grill tools.

Great Location, Beautiful Views

This place is very comfortable for four people. We did use the open up sofa and it’s what you’d expect it to be. Ocean view is beautiful from the top deck. Hot tub was clean and ready to use. Very well stocked kitchen if you are planning to cook. Walk to the ocean is no more than 10 minutes- not idea if you have little ones and lots of stuff to tow. Arch Cape was a perfect location for us-quiet and more private but Cannon Beach, with all you need in restaurants, groceries, and things to do, is just a few minutes up the road. What a gorgeous area of the country!!

Our stay😁

We stayed here for 6 nights with our daughters' family. The view is nice and the house is clean and the kitchen well equipped. The negatives are that the hot tub was dirty,leaked and did not work. We were told we would get a refund and still have not received it. Many phone calls and time were wasted on this issue. The owner wanted to come on Sunday to work on it, but we did not want our stay interrupted. The spiral staircase,although architecturally interesting, was very difficult to use and two of our party ended up cut on rough edges. Only 2 chairs are on the lower deck, and no table. This makes outdoor living uncomfortable. The open bedroom makes it difficult to sleep when anyone is downstairs. The kitchen is so narrow that when you open the dishwasher no one can get by. Ann

Mermaid Escape

The Mermaid at Arch Cape is a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. The home was immaculate, appliances new and modern, water was hot and hot tub was just right. Plenty of towels and a comfortable bed.The photos are accurate, but really you have to see the home to appreciate. it. The amazing mermaid spiral stair is remarkable, though kind of difficult when showering before hot tub and walk up, no slips but caution is advised. We had no concerns, figured out the light switches, heat, and the hot tub quickly. The trail to the beach is a fun little jaunt, maybe 5 minutes. The beach itself? Well we weren't expecting a rocky beach, sandy only when the tide is out, but beautiful at all times, the rocks could make beach walks difficult, especially for the very young or the elderly. The hot tub was amazing during an exciting wind storm one afternoon - great addition to any vacation rental. Must sees - Hug Point and Arcadia Beach just down the road. and of course Cannon Beach, which is close, but far enough away that we felt isolated. We enjoyed Bill's Brewhouse in Cannon Beach a couple of times - nice brews. and the Hardware Store Brewery was quirky and fun. Had dinner at the Lumberhouse, but it was very noisy kind of reminded me of Red robin, so good for families, but not a quiet little dining experience. Ecola Fish Market supplied most of our dinners, cooked and prepared at the Mermaid. YUM, Salmon, halibut, crab, shrimp. This home is obviously a much cared for and cherised little gem. The owners have put a lot of personal artistic touches into decor and it is beautiful. We would recommend this rental wholeheartedly, especially as a romantic getaway for couples.
