A few of my friends and I stayed here for our Galentine’s Day celebration. We LOVED our stay - our only regret we had was not checking in earlier and maximizing our time at the house. We wish we stayed longer and hope to be back again! Totally recommend this place! Beautiful, clean, gorgeous views, awesome bonfire put, and tons of decks/balconies!

Nice Getaway- But not quite what we expected
We had a nice stay at Windy Knoll Adventure and the house generally met all of our needs. The house is clean, well-equipped and nicely decorated. Beds were comfy! The location (in the town of Front Royal) allowed for easy access to the town and the National Park.
However, there were some negatives that detracted from our full enjoyment. First of all, the house is about 2 miles down a maintained dirt road. This wasn't a problem for us, but should have been mentioned in the listing. Anyone with a lower clearance vehicle (or anyone that is opposed to having a very dusty car!) would have had issues.
The photos of the house show that it's positioned on a bluff overlooking the river. This is accurate. However, what isn't shown is some processing plant (quarry?) directly across the river. The noise from this plant runs 24/7, and greatly detracts from the peacefulness of the river setting. It certainly was not the secluded nature setting we were hoping for.
Finally, our stay was complicated with an issue with the water (or lack thereof). The owner worked to remedy the situation, which was made more difficult due to the Easter holiday, but was able to have the issue fixed the next day. However, we were left high and dry (literally) for 24 hours. This was particularly challenging, after a day of hiking, to come home to a house where we couldn't shower. The owner did provide a 10% refund, which was appreciated, albeit limited.
