About this property
Large, Private, Quiet 2 bedroom historic flat in El Centro - perfect location!
This unique and spacious ground floor (no stairs) flat has lots of character and unique charm. Formerly a bakery, Panama hat shop, and art gallery, this flat has a lot of character. As a part of a classic Cuenca patrimonial house, your hosts occupy the top two floors and available to provide advice about this wonderful city. This location is ideal to explore El Centro and beyond on foot. With a private entrance, spacious interior, and charming details, this is one-of-a-kind find.
The space
The flat is on the ground floor and has exactly one short step from the front "garage" to the rest of the space so it's a good choice for anyone with mobility challenges as not many historic buildings have elevators and there are few STRs in El Centro as spacious as this one.
Once inside the flat proper, you'll find high molded ceilings and a roof skylight, vintage tile floors and lots of closet space, comfortable seating areas and quality bedding, workspace and high speed wifi, dining room, large living room and two bedrooms.
There is also a full bathroom with a spacious shower that requires no steps to get in, a reading/breakfast nook, and a small but functional kitchen.
Despite its central location, past guests have commented on how quiet it is. There is a lot of foot traffic and is an excellent location at the border of old city and new city so getting around from here is so convenient. Need a taxi? Walk outside. Need a bus, all main arteries are down the stairs and at the intersection. Want a bike? Go down the stairs and take a left and pick one up. The location can not be beat for exploring Cuenca's historic district, restaurants, museums, shopping, cultural events, etc. Also, your host has provided an extensive guide to their favorites in all these categories as well as day trip suggestions and contact info for trusted drivers, service providers of all kinds and much more. We also speak fluent Spanish so we can help you if you need it to coordinate your trip.
This is a historic Cuenca building and not your typical generic tiny box apartment and, thus, has some quirky features (like no right angles anywhere!) but it's clean, full of light, spacious, decorated with a mix of modern and local touches, and, most importantly, it's comfortable. We will be constantly adding to the comfort and amenities and your questions, input, suggestions and feedback will be very welcomed.
