Mountain cabin sprinkled with fairy dust.
The pix don’t do justice. You feel like you are the last human on earth nestled in the trees with no one else in sight. Maria greeted us as we arrived. She had both wood stoves stoked and the little place was toasty. Although she has many wonderful lamps and antiques you don’t feel like you can’t relax and live in the home. The terra cotta tile floors are covered with lovely knotted rugs. The kitchen is snug but fully serviceable. We cooked braised ribs and made chili and soups etc with no issues. The fridge and freezer are large with plenty of space for snacks and leftovers. The tub has a lovely ambiance in the windowed nook. Soaked a bunch. The shower downstairs is lovely as well. The hot water seems endless and is very hot in kitchen so careful but squeaky cleaned pots are a breeze. Maria was gracious and very available for any issues but not uncomfortably around. We did puzzles and coloring etc on the ample dining table. I brought my Alexa and she provided music, news, timers and alarms if needed. The outside decks and their views are wonderful. The pool area is nice and private. Although the immediate area around the cottage is cleared you feel remote due to the oaks and conifers around. The only sign of civilization is the rare sound of a truck rumbling on the narrow street to the area. The deer pass through daily sometimes twice. The jays squawk while you have morning coffee. The sheer silence cleanses the mind before the bubble pops and you have to go home.

Magical !!!!
When I stepped foot into this Magical home at Sanctuaire I was transported into a world of creativity and excellence that the photos did not convey. I was pleasantly surprised around every corner. The first thing I notice was that the beautiful art deco Tiffany lamps all turned on and worked! Marie (the owner) had thought to put the same colored lightbulbs as the shades, making for a beautiful warm and inviting ambiance. Every piece of furniture is an antique and tastefully chosen to fit the decor. Some pieces are so large that I am sure the owner built the home around the furniture! We arrived in the heat of August's summer in Cazadero to a pristine blue pool, not a neighbor in site and so peaceful! My family joined my husband and I for a day and our dobermans had a lovely time scouting out the 29 acres of land! Marie is lovely and so very accessible without being seen, as she lives on the property. It was also a lovely easy stroll to the creek that she recommended. Another beautiful addition is the pond! A beautiful place to spend time with the Butterflies and Dragonflies. This is an Artist's paradise and I plan on returning with my watercolors for some peaceful relaxing days again in the future.

Beautiful and private property!
The home is a lovely eccentric gem! It is very comfortable with all amenities for your comfort. Love the upper deck with the view of the pool and spa with the barbecue in close proximity to the kitchen. The property is very quiet, private and serene! Walking down to the creek was a bonus! In the 100 degree weather in September the lower bedroom and bath was a plus!! The owner loves her home and was a beautiful lady to communicate with during our questions and concerns in booking. Recommend to all wanting an escape from the pressures of everyday life! Cindy Bollinger

Vacation Nightmare
What was to be a birthday vacation had to be cut. We were asked to arrive after 5:30 pm because the workers didn’t want to work in the heat. When we arrived around 8:00 we parked by a small pond filled with lily pads and LOTS of mosquitoes. Only one of the two doors facing the parking lot opened. The temperature in the house was unbearable and had to be over 100 degrees. In an attempt to cool it down we looked for windows or other doors to open. The only other door that opened was on the deck side. This made it impossible to get any breeze to cool the house. No windows at all to open for fresh air. We discovered a noisy ceiling blower in the upstairs that was circulating hot air and, dirty rags in the downstairs toilet and on the bathroom counter. After frantically searching we found the landline on the floor by the dining room table. We called and spoke with Marie who seemed unfazed by the dirty rags and noisy ceiling fan. She actually said that I could remove the dirty rags with a stick then gave directions on where to find the hidden switch to turn off the blower. It was outside in a closet by the bbq. Who would’ve known.. We decided to unpack the cooler and have something to eat however that was not in the cards as my husband notified me that there was a mouse running around on top of the stove. These are just some of the reasons we left the next morning. Cobwebs everywhere, doors that were locked and wouldn’t open, broken spa & convection oven.

All that jazz in Caz !
The home (its decor and furnishings were super chill Victorian era to just lounge about in for you homebodies out there), grounds and views of the opposing hills were stunning. It was entirely peaceful and the stars at night are divine. Everything was functioning and operating as planned. The setup down at the creek was extremely serene. Bring bug spray and dont forget that you are truly spending time in the country when you see bats flying about. The host Maria was very helpful and always accesible. We will be back !

I am semi-retired and I live on the property. Truth is, it's a full time job maintaining, cleaning, and updating Sanctuaire. But, it is my labor of love.

Why they chose this property

Sanctuaire is a secluded beautiful Victorian-style home that can accommodate up to 5 people. The home is surrounded by 30 acres of oaks, redwoods, hills, and creeks with views that take your breath away. The only neighbors are birds, squirrels, other non-threatening wildlife!

What makes this property unique

Sanctuaire is most unique because of its seclusion from the hectic world. Surrounded by 30 acres of tress, creeks, and hills, total privacy awaits you.
