The Neighborhood:
Rio Rodanthe sits in the laid-back village of Rodanthe — one of the three "Tri-Villages" (Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo) on Hatteras Island, known for natural beauty and a slower pace than the busier northern Outer Banks beaches.
Within a short walk or drive:
• Rodanthe Pier — just down the road. Great for fishing (no NC fishing license required from the pier), sightseeing, and ocean breezes. Bait and tackle shop on-site.
• Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum — preserved site honoring the U.S. Life-Saving Service, with historical reenactments
• Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge — just north of Rodanthe, a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers
• Watersports outfitters — Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding School, Rodanthe Watersports and Campground, and Hatteras Island Sail Shop offer lessons and rentals for kiteboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on Pamlico Sound
• Local restaurants — Good Winds Restaurant (sound views), Lisa's Pizzeria, and various food trucks
• Boutiques, galleries, and beach shops throughout the village
• Nags Head Golf Links — about 33 minutes away
Getting Around:
A personal vehicle is highly recommended for getting around Hatteras Island. Rio Rodanthe has ample on-site parking.

• Walking — the beach is right out your private walkway; Rodanthe Pier is a short stroll
