Kitchen had everything you would need.. minor glitch.. kettle had a short but we boiled water in a pot.. no biggy! Location was everything we wanted and the rooms etc were great. Would stay there again for sure.
We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect and location could not be better. We were within walking distance of the majority of the cities sites and if tired from walking just a quick Uber call or e-scooter ride back
Charming spacious home in great location across from the Halifax Commons Park. Walking distance from the waterfront, the Citadel, Dalhousie campus (long-ish but nice walk) and lots of great cafés and restaurants. The five of us loved our stay. Check in and out and parking easy. Big convenient kitchen with plenty of dishes, etc. Would stay again.
It was in an excellent location, across from the Citadel in walking distance from the waterfront, there is no air conditioning but with the windows open it was perfect. The street noise was minimal.
It was great to stay in a little historic home with lots of character with my big family in the heart of the city. Has all the basic things you need in a home away from home. Close to many amenities and attractions. We felt comfortable and safe in the neighborhood.
This is a very old, historic property so there were some issues promptly resolved by the cohost because the host was out of town. One shower stall is very small and the other shower is in a clawfoot tub which takes some dexterity to negotiate. Otherwise, it’s a lovely house with much charm in a very good location and great host and cohost!!!
We had a fantastic week in Halifax at the green house. Perfect for a large group. Only inconvenience was that the kitchen was very small to have all 10 of us eating at the same time. All questions were answered reasonably promptly. Thanks for a great week!
Great location. This is actually a 4 bdrm place 2 bathrooms. Which is great. Floors were not the cleanest, windowsills, blinds. No written or online instructions present on arrival except internet access. Pre sent check in instructions were confusing and gave 2 different codes both stating that there was a key box. No key. Just door code. But owners were very responsive which was great.

Not what we expected according to the online review
The location was good and the kitchen was well stocked in as far as dishes, cutlery, towels, laundry detergent etc
The place needs a good cleaning! The chair in the living room needs to be cleaned as it had a bad odor. The downstairs bathroom especially. Lots of missing light bulbs making the place dark. Doors didn’t close properly in the upstairs bathroom and in the bedroom downstairs. The front inside door also didn’t close properly. The downstairs mattresses were terrible and after the second night we referred to them as prison beds.
The yard was overgrown with weeds and the bar b q was dirty. Some confusion with the parking space…not told where it was until we called the owner twice. When we parked in the spot directed we were questioned by the owner of the property to as why we were there. It was confusing. For the price we paid we expected better!!

This was the worst holiday ever.
My husband & I spent 4 weeks in the green house. It was a complete nightmare. The house was not what we had expected. It was old & run down. I would not recommend this house to anyone. It was not what was advertised. Badly in need of repair. There were no wardrobes only cubby holes. Paint peeling off the ceiling & walls. The front door was down to the bare wood & looked appalling. I could go on and be here for ever . I hope this review is seen by everyone who visits this site. Don't be fooled the pictures do not tell the whole story. The whole experience ruined our holiday and we could not wait to get home. PS. For the 4 weeks we were there were did not see John or Jennifer. I thought this was a bad show on their part. It would have been nice if either one had called and introduced themselves. But after seeing the place I think I know why they did not show. Pat &Patrick. Dublin.

This review is very troubling/inaccurate. It doesn’t reflect the reviews of many happy travelers. Our house is 150+ yrs old with many original parts. It is a challenge to maintain, but we do so with great care yearly. We also have great concern 4 our guests: we are available 24/7 for any problems or advice.
Simply, if these guests were so unhappy, why did we hear nothing? We did not get a single complaint, or asked 4 a refund/to move. People do have different expectations: as host, the customer is always right.

Hi John & Jennifer,
As you know we have been staying at the above property for just over a week
now, with 3 more weeks of our stay yet to go. There is no change of bed
linen (sheets pillow cases) provided at the premises which would allow us
to wash and change the existing bed linen. In these circumstances we
assumed clean linens would be provided during the course of our stay, but
to date no fresh linens have been provided,
With the weather having been so hot and humid the bed clothes are now badly
in need of change. In these circumstances I would ask if you could provide
us with a fresh set of bed linen at your earliest convenience.
Thanking you”
Response:
“Of course. Will have some dropped over. I hope you are enjoying your stay.”
Then:
“___ do u have a phone? How many beds do u need sheets for and which one (s)?’
We received no response + sheets were sent same day +:
“Hi John & Jennifer,
Thank you for your quick response re. our bed linen request.
Much appreciated,”
Hardly the words of the enraged guest. To be clear, we don’t “drop around” as some people prefer to be private. For the rest of the stay, silence, and we assumed all was well.
At check out:
“Hi Folks,.
We will be finishing our vacation at the above premises between 10 and
11am. tomorrow. if you want to inspect the property before we depart it is
no problem just let us know. If this is not the case we will clean and
hover the property also strip the bed linen from the 3 beds that we used,
while here, and leave the bed linen in the washing machine. You might
please let us know your preference in addition to how you propose to return
the damage deposit.
Thanking you,”
Once again, not 1 negative word + a thank you. I am saddened by this, + apologize to these guests 4 their bad time in our city/home. For prospective guests, please read the other reviews/call us, +be sure that we care very much about your visit.

Perfect location but needs love
The location and size met our family’s needs for a Christmas reunion. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. The well equipped kitchen made meal prep easier.
For a house this age they’ve included lots of blankets and space heaters to mitigate cold drafts. Our concerns about a toilet that was difficult to flush never did get addressed. Two of the beds need replacing so occupants don’t roll to the middle. Little details like shoes found under the bed leave impression that the house isn’t thoroughly cleaned after previous guests’ departure. As well, a makeshift curtain rod in front bedroom isn’t doing the job. A swithchplate in another bedroom was laying on the floor needing a screw. The cupboards in the kitchen have all sorts of objects filling up space including the instructions for the house that we only found on last day. A little organization of these cupboards would make things easier to find and guests’ could maintain that order. Over our week here we did organise utensil drawer which just has too many things in it for what is needed. These are simple and quick fixes to maintain but because they weren’t done upon our arrival they reflect the rating on the house.

This review is most unfortunate and inconsistent with what other travellers have told us and with the communication we had with Bonnie and her group.
The toilet was checked the next morning and we were advised it was working fine, and heard nothing more. None of these other issues were addressed despite our ongoing encouragement of guests to contact us if they have any concerns.
These issues have all been reviewed and where appropriate acted upon.
I would encourage Bonnie and her group to always ask if they have any issue, and not deal with it in this manner.

Cuisine bien équipée.Un manque d’information à l’arrivée pour l’espace de stationnement.
Great, clean house with room for all 8 of us and close walk to the harbour and restaurants. Should maybe update the property photos to reflect the changes.
Very good experience. The yard was a bit smaller then expected and could definitely use a facelift. John was a great host that responded very quickly.
Thank you
Great house for a big family or families travelling together. All the amenities you could need and walking distance to downtown. Right next the Commons (with parks, sports fields, tennis, green space )and the Halifax Citadel.
Great location with all of the comforts of home.
There was a lovely little back yard to relax and enjoy morning coffee/tea while watching the birds. Only negative was noise at front of home at night. Could have been alleviated if air conditioned and windows closed. Temperature was beautiful though so not needed with open windows. Would definitely return.
This was exactly what three couple needed for ten days in Halifax. The house was easy to find, everyone had lots of space and nice walking distance to down town and arena.
You are renting a place that is over 100 years old and starting to show in some areas still clean and safe. But the price and location make up for this. Thanks for ten wonderful days.

Fabulous Family Gathering in Downtown Halifx
This was a wonderful space to spend time with family and friends. Very spacious and bright. My mother was with us and she has mobility challenges. This house had downstairs bedroom and bathroom facilities!!Access to an outdoor space with furniture was bonus. We could walk to coffee shops wonderful bakeries and restaurants. Our dog had room to run and was in an enclosed safe place. Teens could venture across the street to a open park with skate board park included. The rooms were clean and fresh. I plan to return for future visits. Other than no martini glasses all was worth it:)

Great Downtown Halifax location!
great location in downtown Halifax for a short work trip. The house was very clean and had everything I needed. Used the large main floor bedroom which was great. I was able to squeeze in a couple skates at the Oval across the street where they offer free equipment. John and Jennifer were helpful with dining and entertainment ideas. Thanks,
Chad

Great weekend stay
Awesome central location steps to everything in central Halifax. Beautiful heritage home with very cool decorations. The place was spotless and the beds were great. Perfect for four couples. Yard was great but a little cold in January. Skating at the Oval across the street was an added bonus. We will be back. Thanks to John for all the advice.
