DAS BESTE HAUS One Block off Main Street

Located in the Historic District of downtown, one block south of Main Street, this ninety-year-old German cottage is a two-bedroom, two-bath home. It is the perfect getaway, within easy walking distance of all Fredericksburg offers.
The house comfortably sleeps four guests and has been completely remodeled in a Modern Farmhouse style, with new on-suites for each bedroom, a new modern kitchen with all standard amenities, and smart TVs throughout.
The cozy front porch is a great spot to relax and watch city life, and the back yard has a pergola for shade and seating, as well.
Stroll down Main to art galleries, shopping, restaurants, and coffee houses. Or, book a winery tour with a local company and make a day for yourselves out in the beautiful Hill Country.
Upon your return, kick off your shoes and relax, or take in any of the local nightlife hotspots, most of which serve food. If private sightseeing is more your thing, drive south on Hwy 87 to Comfort, another quaint Hill Country gem with shopping, antiques and food. Or head east on I10 to Boerne and San Antonio, just a 45 minute drive away.

It is a lovely property, beautifully decorated. Kitchen is gorgeous and very practical. As cute as both bedrooms are, one of them has no room for our luggage. Proximity to town was very convenient. We were lucky it wasn’t a busy weekend; parking in front of the house worked out perfectly.

Great location, comfortable beds, beautifully decorated home

We arrived after dark and were pleasantly surprised to see that the home was well stocked with coffee and breakfast provisions, saving us a late night trip to the HEB. We loved sinking into the extremely comfortable beds, both fitted with mattress toppers, after taking full advantage of the nearby shopping and eating. The home is beautifully decorated with all of the conveniences you could possibly need. We would love to stay in this home or any of your other properties again. It made our annual friends’ trip that much more enjoyable.

Friends recommended this area after we relocated from West Texas, where we raised our four children. When not entertaining guests, we love to travel, and spend time with our five grandchildren. We love sharing our place with people, and hearing of the adventures they had here in the Hill Country.

Why they chose this property

The Historic district is so convenient to everything downtown, and the German architecture gives Fredricksburg a sort of old-world feel. It is a very beautiful area.

What makes this property unique

Our property is ninety years old and was hand-built by local craftsmen. Legend has it that a local doctor and his wife owned the large house next door, and after the doctor’s tragic early passing, his widow built this carriage house as her home in order to rent the large house and keep it in the family.
