About this property

The "View" at Viewcatcher with "catch" your eye

Traditional A-frame style is reminiscent of a slower time in the Smokies.

Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains foothills, View Catcher will “catch” your eye with a fabulous A-frame view overlooking the mountains. On the deck, experience the caressing mountain breeze while swaying in rocking chairs. Inside, the view still captivates you with high windows in the living room and the view framed both upstairs in the reading loft and downstairs in the family room. With cream-colored walls and rustic cabin features such as a bear patterned rug and chairs, a brown leather couch and an overall open feel of the chalet, View Catcher provides an unforgettable authentic vacation experience. When you stay at Viewcatcher or any of our properties during the summer months you will receive a pass to enjoy 3 pools located here on the mountainside.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This review is by no means a review of MLC as a company. We have used them for the past 14yrs and live them. However- it is time the owner of this home do a complete renovation. It is EXTREMELY dated and very used. The bathrooms are falling apart and cheaply done, rotted wood on the house, doors that stay open, the stairs are VERY odd and dangerous (each step is a different height). I’m not sure when the last time this house was stayed in but there was a very burnt pop tart in the toaster, and very moldy garbage can, the dishes had a film on them and the floors were very dusty/greasy feeling and the kitchen as a whole was glossed over by housekeeping. This will not stop us staying with MLC at all, but the owners of the house really need to completely gut it and start over.

Viewcatcher: Could be if the trees were trimmed.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Living area was very comfortable. Kitchen had everything that was needed. The directions given to us had some difficult roads. Taking Wiley Oakley Dr. off of Ski Mountain Rd. Made the drive a lot easier. Because the A/C was set to go no lower than 68 degrees, the loft bedroom was very warm and the main level bedroom was. Little warm. Living area was cool. The trees out back were overgrown and the view was blocked severely. We went back to the chalet one day at 3:30pm, atthe end of July and there was a large black bear that had just passed out chalet and was walking up the road sniffing for food.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view was amazing, the deck very relaxing. Steps down to front door and up to 2nd floor were challenging for me (steep). I would grade it "no frills" but very comfortable.

Lovely, peaceful spot with great view
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a lovely little spot. The views were wonderful and the location quiet and restful. The lodging was well laid out. We appreciated the gas fireplace module after using the hot tub, and while the space was small, they made the most of it.There were several minor maintenance issues. The chalet is older and has been updated but the update was minimal so it still feels a bit tired. The things that were easily fixed, we informed the management company and they seemed receptive. (I know they are not always told about these things.) One item I will mention to hopefully prevent others from destroying a meal is that the oven runs 25-50 degrees too hot. Other issues will take more work, like the very noisy furnace and the complete lack of insulation under the exposed front part of the house that makes it impossible to keep the temperature even. Overall we enjoyed our visit and I would certainly stay again because of the location and layout. I think it was a good value and the maintenance issues were very manageable.

Not Perfect, But Perfect
My granddaughters and I wanted to stay with a place with a view. This home provided that an hot tub to enjoy the view. Mountain Laurel Chalets was amazing to book with, there was a problem with the upstairs shower and that was okay with us because it was only the three of us and we didn’t need two showers. The rest of the bathroom was operational, which was good. This is not a luxury property and was not advertised as such so we can’t complain about the accuracy of the listing. It was perfect of us because we just wanted a place with a view, hot showers and beds to sleep in after we spent our time exploring.
