About this property
Lovely Vintage B&B Charm! 5 min from Old Indian Creek Farm Wedding Venue & I 69!
Enjoy the peaceful charm & ambiance of a restored vintage B&B! Perfect for a romantic getaway, personal retreat or family trip, it's private, quiet, has views of 200 acres of lovely woods and is beautifully decorated with comfy vintage and cottage style furniture. Amenities include wine, cheese and crackers "Welcome Basket," yummy breakfast items, Starbucks coffee, luxury towels and bedding, Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu Live, Disney+, ESPN+, Echo Dot with Alexa, Amazon Music and BOSE Speaker! Just 5 min from I-69, University of Olivet, Pine Lake and the Old Indian Creek Farm Wedding Venue, we invite you to come and stay with us to see why many of our repeat guests call The Cottage their favorite cozy "home away from home!"
We have been on another vacation rental site for over five years with over 300 5 star reviews! Our historic property, established in 1865, is very unique, as the front of the property is on the Main Street of Olivet - but the back part of the property, where The Cottage is located, abuts to 200 acres of beautiful private wooded land! Many of our guests report that they see lots of wildlife, including deer, racoons and bunnies - and even wild turkeys! They also often comment on hearing the beautiful bird song in the spring and summer months, as well as the crickets chirping in the backyard pond and the gentle sound of our backyard water fountain. So, we are in the city and in the country at the same time!
- Private entrance. The Cottage is in a building totally separate from our home. It is located above our garage, which is used only for storage. No cars go in and out of the garage so it is very quiet and private. The Cottage is accessed by 14 indoor carpeted stairs with a sturdy handrail.
- Spacious with 840 square feet
- South facing, bright and sunny with lots of windows!
- Charming restored 1950’s vintage kitchen! This kitchen is fully equipped, so you can cook your own food and eat in! Dishes include service for 8 and silverware includes service for 12. A variety of wine glasses are also included. There are pots and pans, utensils, a mixer, bakeware, bowls, etc. to cook any complete meal.
- Large laptop friendly desk
- Large balcony for relaxing and eating outside
- Red and white wine and Schuler's cheese and crackers "Welcome Basket!"
- A variety of welcome breakfast items for you to prepare until you get a chance to go to the store. Included are drinks (see below), eggs, frozen waffles and syrup, cereals, a variety of breakfast bars and cinnamon rolls you can bake! Breakfast is not provided daily.
- Starbucks coffee, assorted tea bags (yes - we have a teapot!), milk and hot chocolate
- Smart TV with NETFLIX, PRIME VIDEO, HULU LIVE, DISNEY+ and ESPN+ - plus local channels available to all guests. You do not need your own account.

About the host
Hosted by Sue Ramin-Hutchison

I am a retired special education, teacher consultant and assistive technology support specialist for kids with special needs. I love to travel, both domestically and internationally. I love to read, garden, and work out. I am also a classically trained soprano and I sing in the Michigan State University Choral Union with the Lansing Symphony. My husband, Bob, and I have an adult son and daughter who have given us three beautiful granddaughters! We also have a lovable white Labrador Retriever named Sherlock. We love being short term rental hosts and have met so many wonderful people over the last five years on another vacation rental site. We look forward to hosting you!
Why they chose this property
When I was growing up, I always wanted to live in a big old house in a small, long established community with a great school system. Olivet is quiet, safe and also has the beautiful campus of the University of Olivet. This is just perfect for us!
What makes this property unique
Our property was established in 1865 and we have lovingly restored our home and the vacation rental to give it a vintage cozy cottage vibe.. While we are located on the main street of town, the back part of the property, where the cottage is, abuts onto 200 acres of beautiful wooded land. So, the cottage is in the city and in the country at the same time! Many of our guests comment on the cottage’s private, peaceful, beautiful surroundings.
