About this property
Breakers West 2 Bedroom Luxury Beach Condo
Breakers West is one of Sanibel's premier condominium complexes. It is nestled among palm trees and hibiscus on beautifully manicured grounds and 100 yards from the white sands of the Gulf of Mexico.
Our wide and sandy beach is one of the greatest shelling areas in the world and host to spectacular sunsets.
This ground floor end unit is the closest condo to the Gulf and has over 1200 square feet of spacious living area. The non-smoking condo has two bedrooms and two full baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and an in-condo laundry room.
The living room opens onto a screened porch that overlooks the lush grounds and swimming pool.
Breakers West is a three story building with only 18 privately owned condos. Its limited number of units and its location on West Gulf Drive contribute to an uncrowded and relaxing vacation. Yet you are not far away from all the island attractions.
Sanibel Island is an ideal vacation destination for those wishing to discover one on the last tropical islands in the United States. Sanibel is a lush resort, famous for its shelling, quaint shops, superb restaurants, and recreational pursuits that all share a common goal of preserving the island's natural environment.
Sanibel Island is 14 miles long and three miles wide, one of the southern most islands in a chain of barrier islands stretching along Florida's Gulf Coast.
On the southern side, facing the Gulf of Mexico, are miles of white sand beach, one of the greatest shelling areas in the world. San Carlos Bay, with its excellent harbors and fishing, borders the northern side. More than 40% of the island is a national wildlife sanctuary and home to abundant wildlife and tropical native plants.
On Sanibel, you will find great outdoor adventure with challenging golf courses, sport fishing, sight-seeing charters, superb shelling and endless miles of bike paths.
Enjoy all the natural splendor of the island as well as engaging shops, unique galleries, spirited theatre and excellent restaurants from the luxury of our centrally located condo.

We were very impressed with the unit! It was clean and had all the amenities a traveler could want. The decor was calm and serene. The kitchen was well equipped as we were able to cook several meals. There were also beach chairs, coolers, etc that all were in good condition. It goes without saying the easy access to the beach was wonderful and it was a quiet section of the island. The communication with the property management was easy. I would highly recommend Breakers West!
The trip was great. The owners were very accomdating when I wanted to stay an extra dy as well. Property and condo very clean. Definitey plan on staying with them on our next vacation to Sanibel.
This is a beautiful property and roomy condo with easy access to the beach. We enjoyed swimming in the gulf in the morning for a refreshing 'wake up' and also in the evening to watch the beautiful sunsets.

Hi Craig-
I am pleased that you enjoyed your anniversary in our condo and on Sanibel. We asked Bailey's to leave you an anniversary gift basket. I hope you did receive it.

This location was awesome! So close to everything. Great beach. Make sure to bring swim shoes if wanting to walk the beach. Shells make it difficult barefoot. Watch out for the schools of stingray that go right down the shoreline. Awesome shelling. Close to grocery/ restaurants. Short drive to Captiva. Close to the rec center if you like to exercise while on vacation. Nice lap pool. Only recommendation for this property would be to provide some beach towels/blanket. Left a boogy board for the next visitor!

So glad you enjoyed your trip to Sanibel and your stay in our condo. Please come again!
This is the most beautiful location on Sanibel! The beach is never crowded, the sunsets are gorgeous, and the family memories made are priceless. The value for your money renting at Breakers West is quite significant because the location is perfect and the small condo complex makes a great experience. We made friends with all the other vacationers here at the uncrowded pool and at the beach. The short walk (100-200 yards) to the beach is idyllic, never felt like a chore, just a portal into a secret fairytale world. (Just bring or rent a beach wagon for the chairs.)
The condo was large, clean, comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved being on the first floor and opening the back door to the pool and beach.
Our family loves it here. Thank you for sharing with us!
I really enjoyed the time I spent at Breakers West. Beautiful condo with great amenities. Nice corner unit which was private and just a few feet away from the heated pool. The walk to the beach took less than two minutes. The beach itself was private and very quiet. We usually came across just a few families with young children, who really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Of course the beach was full of colorful seashells, and on one afternoon we actually got to swim with a couple of manatees who came to check us out.
Communications and set up with the owner and the realtor who issued the keys was a pleasure. Everybody treated us well and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I hope to visit this condo again in the future. I miss it already!
Overall, the property was nice, clean, and close to the beach as advertised. Directions to the actual property were slightly inaccurate which made it a little hard to find as we arrived just after sunset. Layout of condo is nice as the 2 bedrooms/bathrooms give you space (we were 5 guests) and the screened lanai was great to read and lounge. The kitchen/bathroom amenities were spartan. No cutting board, no basic spices like salt, and no kitchen supplies like foil/wrap, plus limited pots/pans. There was 1 small bar of soap for each bathroom that barely lasted 4 days, rough toilet paper, and limited detergent for the dishwasher (we barely made it stretch for 3 washings). There were beach chairs and the washer/dryer was appreciated. Overall, we had a nice stay, but felt it was overpriced and would have appreciated more attention to the amenities.

I apologize for your reaction to the amenitities. Our rental management agency, Royal Shell, gives just enough supplies like soap and detergent to get our guests started and the guests are expected to purchase what they need for their stay. If they left much more, they would be continually removing unused supplies. With regard to spices and foil wrap, those would have to be removed as well. You would be surprised how many guests don't eat in and therefore don't need kitchen amenities.
There are cutting boards and other kitchen equipment under the lower cupboard next to the refrigerator, and we do have a full set of pots and pans plus extras under the counter opposite the refrigerator.
Had you called Royal Shell, they would have been happy to bring you more and larger bars of soap. I know they left you plenty of towels, there are usually 12 sets per unit.
I hope the lack of the items that you wished were in our condo didn't spoil your trip. I must tell you that we have never had a complaint about the amenities our rental management company leaves in our condo and no one has every complained that we were over priced.

Disappointing
This was our first visit to Sanibel Island and we had no idea where to stay. My daughter chose this condo based on 1) availability 2) photos 3) description. The photos are a bit misleading regarding the walkway to the beach in that before you reach the lovely path in the photo you must walk across the rock parking lot, although that wasn't a big deal. However, the moment we walked into the "master" bath it had a strong urine smell that persisted the entire week despite my attempts at cleaning with Lysol. The grill was a few doors down and in poor condition, so we did not use it. This condo could use some updating definitely a better cleaning crew. Aside from that, we had a wonderful week. The beach is beautiful. We highly recommend the Over Easy Cafe for breakfast and The Bubble Room for lunch! We had two teenage girls with us and they enjoyed renting bicycles and riding the bike trail across the island. They also enjoyed renting jet skis on Captiva and a charter boat ride to see the dolphins. My daughter spent hours shelling.

This is the first review we have ever had from a VRBO renter. All of the other comments we have had on our condo, either from our rental management company, our guest book, or our repeat renters, have been very positive.
Our confirmation letter gives our renters the phone number of our rental management company and, while requests for service have been few and minor, the management company responds very quickly to calls.
As soon as we became aware of this review, we had them send an inspection crew to go through the property and they found no problems at all.
This is our second home and we are there at least twice a year, both for vacation and to make any changes that we think are needed to keep it a five star property.
We have had on-going bookings since this renter stayed in March of 2011 and have had no complaints at all. In fact, some of our guests have returned in 2012 and have made reservations for 2013.
My husband and I are in our 60's and came here to escape the freezing weather further north. We found this place in rather short notice so was expecting that we would have to sacrifice some of our vacation checklist luxuries but was pleasantly surprised. EXCELLENT location with a very short walk (2 minutes) to a beautiful beach. We appreciated having a washer and dryer on site so we didn't have to bring as many clothes and the kitchen is large and adequately stocked. Its on the first level so no stairs and it's the closest unit to the beach and on the back corner of the facility so our dedicated parking space was close to our door. The only drawback for us was it lacked a king-sized bed, but because we drove, I brought my own king sized bedding and we pushed the 2 twins together to make the king. We put a foam cushion on top of the beds so we didn't feel the groove between the beds. The twins are in the master suite, so it gave us access to the larger bathroom. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed, small walk-in closet and it's own full bathroom. The screened porch overlooks the well-groomed lawn in back where the pool is. The pool is heated to a very comfortable bath-water level and the day we took advantage of it was like a private pool. No one was there and it's well surrounded by hedges that protect it from view of outsiders. It's located off of a main drive that is lined with beautiful properties and allows for miles of walking and biking trails. My husband and I enjoyed 4-6 mile walks every day but a lot of people were biking. You can obtain rentals from a nearby location. Everything you'd want to do is close by. Beaches, Shelling, Walking, Biking, Restaurants (Doc Fords was our favorite) and we plan to go to the newly renovated Shell Museum before we leave. The drive-through nature preserve is also a popular attraction. We also took a drive to nearby Captiva Island which was also a treat. There is a very nice grocery nearby but you may want to stop at a Publix before coming on the island. The prices are twice the amount you would normally spend and there is a $6 toll every time you come onto the island. You don't need to stop and pay as they must take pictures of your tags and then bill you which is very convenient. That being said, the only time I went off the island was to do some clothes shopping . The owner, Susan, was very responsive when we had questions and very nice. Thank you, Susan for a wonderful experience.

Hi Laurinda-
I am so pleased that you enjoyed our condo so much..
And thank you for the great review!! We do have many returning guests and almost all of the couples use the Queen bedroom as the Master Suite. I have never asked why, but our guests keep praising our mattresses, especially in the Queen bedroom.
I look forward to your next visit!!

We had a wonderful time. The condo was perfect for my husband and our grandchildren. My daughter joined us for one night too. The condo had everything we would need. Kitchen was well stocked. The lanai was gorgeous. My grandson and I saw a sea turtle walking to the beach! Pool was clean and sooo close. Beds were comfortable! Susan was such a sweet host and went above and beyond for us.
This was fantastic condo and we would stay there again in a second. Short walk to the beach, great pool. Loved the screened-in lanai for coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. Well-appointed kitchen which saved us from eating every meal out (gets old). Loved that we also had beach chairs and pool floaties. Vacation management company was also very nice to deal with. Our only mistake was staying for a week instead of two!!! :)
We loved this condo! It was very convenient for small children on the 1st floor. The kids loved the grassy area behind the condo for running around. The condo was very clean and had a very stocked kitchen with everything we needed. There were also floats, sand toys, beach chairs, etc... Susan was so helpful and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and all questions answered. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to our friends.
This condo was very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. The owner was very helpful with our flight delay and late check in. We had a great stay . I highly recommend this rental property.
We had a great time. While not directly beach front, it was a short 2 minute walk on a sandy path past the neighboring building to the beach. We loved this ground level corner unit, as it was the closest to the path and we could just go in and out easily. Beach chairs and umbrella were much appreciated. Comfortable beds and well appointed kitchen, plenty of lovely white towels. Enclosed screened patio was our go to for breakfast and dinners spent in. Very nice.

The air conditioner was a little strange. If you didn’t open a door the rental smelled damp. The air vents were dripping condescension and the furniture always felt damp

Hi Monica-
I'm so sorry that you experienced the problem you described. Our cleaning people should have noticed that the air conditioner's filter needed to be replaced, which was done during the next clean. If you come again, and I hope you will, please call me or or rental management company, if you experience any kind of problem..

We have been coming to Sanibel for years but this is the first time we could walk out to the beach and enjoy the sunsets with all our neighbors because we were staying on the West Gulf. Every night the sunset changed but each were beautiful. We also found new bike paths to explore that we never knew existed. We thank the owners for sharing their home with us.
Beautiful property and location. The home had everything we needed and was very clean. We rented bikes and rode around the island. I could live in the lanai. The local restaurants were amazing. George and Wendy’s seafood grill was a favorite. Thanks for a fun week.
Great experience, we will be back!! Quiet, clean and cozy. Well equipped kitchen and large area to sit with family and friends. Easy stroll to the beautiful beach 🏖
This rental was perfect for my husband and me and our adult son. It was a short walk to the beach and convenient to many restaurants. We cooked several meals also. The condo was very clean and kept up-to-date. The screened in porch was great for a morning cup of coffee. I definitely would come back.
