This guest initially booked a 3-night stay through another person’s Airbnb account. On the original checkout day, after my cleaners had arrived, the guest requested a last-minute extension, which resulted in an extra cost to me that I did not pass on. A 2-night extension was then booked by a third party. After that stay, the guest was unable to rebook through Airbnb and requested to use my Vrbo listing instead. I assisted with two separate bookings via video call, provided a discount, and waived the cleaning fee as a courtesy. After checkout, my cleaners reported that a shampoo bottle, a kitchen container, and a fan were missing. I shared cleaning video footage showing the items present before check-in and missing after checkout, and asked the guest if they were aware of their location. The guest became upset, stating she felt accused. Regarding the fan, the guest initially stated no fan was present at check-in, but later said she left it by the living room window at checkout. Guests are responsible for cleanliness during their stay. Mid-stay cleaning is available at the guest’s cost. Starter supplies are provided, but replenishment is the guest’s responsibility. Outdoor security cameras are clearly disclosed in the listing. Due to repeated booking complications, communication issues, and unresolved missing items, I would not host this guest again.
