About this property

Scenic Barn Retreat: Explore and Relax in Aveyron

Relax in a renovated 18th-century barn in Aveyron. Inside, enjoy a cozy salon with a fireplace and a lounge. Outside, marvel at valley views from the terrace, relax by the pool, or play badminton and table tennis. Hiking trails and bike tours start at your doorstep, leading you through unspoiled landscapes and to many historic villages in the area. Day trips take you to the Aveyron, Lozere, and Cantal's cultural and natural attractions.
In 1980 four Dutch friends bought an 18th century barn. After evicting the cows, and with the help of many more friends, they turned it into this vacation home, now called 'Mont Cigale'.
Two of them, together with their kids and grandkids, continue to enjoy summer here, nestled in the stunning countryside of the Aveyron and Aubrac regions.
Mont Cigale offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and simple but modern comfort as a place to relax and explore the region.
Indoors:
Downstairs Salon: Cozy up by the fireplace with a book or a glass of local wine. The exposed wood beams and stone walls provide a historic ambiance that's perfect for relaxation.
Second Floor Lounge Area: A space to unwind, hang out on a comfortable couch or beanbag, play a board game, read a book, or get some work done.
Three Bedrooms: Comfortable beds ensure a restful night's sleep after a day of exploration.
Each floor has a bathroom with a simple shower, wash basin, and separate toilet. The pantry/laundry area offers extra storage space and a washer.
Outdoors:
Stone Terrace: Enjoy breathtaking views of the valley as you dine al fresco or simply relax with your morning coffee.
Swimming Pool: Cool off with a refreshing swim or lounge by the pool with a cocktail in hand.
Games Area: Challenge your friends and family to a match of badminton, table tennis, or kubb in the yard.
Adventures at Your Doorstep:
From leisurely walks to intense trail runs, bike tours to gravel rides, the adventure begins right outside your door. Explore the unspoiled countryside and discover the natural beauty and local culture of the Aveyron and Aubrac regions.
Day trips take you to famous cheese-making in Roquefort, the Viaduc de Millau, kayaking in the Gorges du Tarn, or the wondrous world of insects at Micropolis, to name but a few.
You will have access to all rooms, but a few cabinets with our personal items will be locked.
The house is one of six in a tiny hamlet. For many kilometers around the house, small-scale farming is the primary activity in this Regional Parc les Grands Causses.
The nearest town, St. Geniez dOlt et dAubrac, is 8 km away. It has general stores, bakeries, butchers, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, a public swimming pool, and a lively entertainment program in Summer.
You can park your car in front of the large gate at the north end of the house, or in the yard.
Pets are welcome, but please keep them off the beds, couches, and chairs and pick up any messes in the yard.
The yard is not fenced; please make sure your pet does not go out onto the street, or to the neighbors' yard.
