The story of CABIN #5 — LOVE NEST is one of quiet romance, deep companionship, and the kind of love that only grows richer with time. It began with an unforgettable newlywed couple — she in her sixties, he in his seventies — whose warmth, kindness, and devotion touched everyone who met them.
They shared a love story that felt lifted straight from the pages of a novel, reminding us that true love knows no timeline. With generous hearts, they confided that they had only each other as family, and in return, we promised they would always have a home here at Lydia. Watching their joy, laughter, and tenderness unfold was a privilege we will never forget.
To this day, this cabin remains their “LOVE NEST,” filled with the gentle energy of their once-in-a-lifetime romance. Though they aren't able to visit often, they still keep in touch, and their words continue to stay with us: “We feel reborn.”
We are honored to have played a small part in their beautiful beginning — proof that love is forever young, no matter the age. May all who stay here feel the same warmth, intimacy, and hope that first inspired this special place.

Love Nest is Perfect for a Couple's Getaway

This cute cabin directly within Lydia Mountain is a fabulous place to stay if you want a quiet getaway with the comforts of home while being almost completely surrounded by quiet forest. The hot tub at night is a must-experience, summer or winter. We stayed here for our wedding weekend and wouldn't change a thing.

Ew! A mouse!

We were awakened early one morning by a mouse scratching. I had to trap it and take it outside. It was hard to go to sleep after that. The bathroom was not very clean when we arrived, and the hot tub was not preheated. We couldn't use it on our first night. Aside from that, we loved the quiet.

All around great. Here are some minor issues: the kitchen faucet drips a bit. Mosquitos on back porch. Is there a way to spray some repellant back there?

Love nest Summer time!

This was our second trip to Lydia . We stayed at the Love Nest for 4 nights in July . It was exactly as listed and the location was great because it is tucked back a bit in the woods off the main road. It was very quiet and the entire trip was the relaxation we needed. Stores etc are pretty close by all within a 1/2 hour drive. Thank you! for the great stay!

Loved the Love Nest

We had a great time celebrating our 33rd anniversary! Lydia Mountain is a great place and everyone and everything was perfect. The only thing I would suggest is to have a map of everything. Either as a brochure or on the website that could be printed out. But that is a minor detail. The staff was very nice and quick to help with any questions! We'll definitely be back!

Love Nest - They Named that Right

Exactly what we were looking for. We loved the privacy of the cabin, the rocking chairs on the porch and the lovely wood finish of the walls. The heat pump was not in working order, but the bac k-up window unit was adequate for cooling, if a bit noisy. We cooked all our meals and found the kitchen to be well appointed. Lighter fluid and charcoal were available for the firepit, but we forgot matches. Perhaps they could be made available at the cabin. The wooden porch railing at the entrance is rotting and infested with "critters". Some maintenance here would be well worth the effort to preserve this lovely cabin. Hope to return in the future.

Love Nest - Just as we expect!

We really enjoyed our stay! This was our 6th? stay at Lydia Cabins. We try different cabins every so often and while this wasnt our favorite, it was just due to personal preference! This nest has a cute firepit setup out front which we did not use due to the temperature/weather, but would be a great feature in the Fall months to enjoy! Cozy with all the needed amenities! The gas fireplace keeps you nice and toasty! Great hot tub! The coffee maker was a surprise with a brew pot on one side and a K-cup brewer on the other! We visit Lydia the same time every year and will continue this tradition!

No heat

We were originally booked for the old dam cabin, however, something happened with the heating system and a potential electrical fire could have occurred, The staff was absolutely wonderful in providing us with an alternative cabin but unfortunately the heat didn’t work in this one so we had to vacate and head back home. My girlfriend had just had spinal surgery so she couldn’t keep moving to different spots. The events were unfortunate and beyond anyone’s control but the staffs service was beyond perfect, we will definitely try and book another trip to Lydia based solely on the professionalism and kindness of every staff member we encountered, especially Josh and Buck.
