There's also an outdoor dining set on the covered front porch with seating for four. If you're a smoker, it's ok to enjoy a puff outside, just remember to throw your butts away, please! Smoking is strictly forbidden inside and will probably result in a damage claim, because it's not easy to get the smell out before the next guest arrives.

🐶 We welcome two or fewer small or medium dogs (<50 lbs), no puppies.
🐶 All pets must be housebroken, current on all vaccinations, and must never be left alone in the apartment.
❌ No dogs who mark/spray. No chewers. Any damage from the pet will be billed to the owner.
❗ Greene County law does not require you to keep your dog on a leash in while on our property, but does require a leash when you go into town. If your dog is a runner, please do what you need to do so they don't run through the forest and onto neighboring properties, where they may not be welcome.
💩 We provide dog waste bags, but you'll need to bring your own leash.
🐶 We provide a medium dog bed with a washable liner, water/food bowls (bring your own food), pet towels, dog waste bags for your walk, and a pet-specific first aid kit.
❗ Please only use pet towels to clean up after your furry friend -- not bath towels. Bring extras from home if you know your dog is extra messy.
🐶 We have info for vets nearby, emergency services if needed, as well as daycare options if you're going somewhere that won't welcome your pet.

🐛 Bugs and spiders are common in the area. We have regular pest treatment, but sometimes the little critters find their way in. Let us know and we'll call someone out to spray again.
🐻 Black bears have been sighted recently on the property. Please use caution, keep a safe distance, and ensure your vehicle is locked and all food items brought into the cabin.

Stanardsville and the Lydia Mountain area are at the transition from the Piedmont region of central VA into the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. The cottage is at about 1000 feet elevation, so it's spared from the worst of winter cold, but still close enough to easily access waterfall hikes and Skyline Drive. Central VA is also well known for wine country, independent cattle farms, horse stables, and some of the best antique malls of the east coast.

This is a rural area, so plan on driving your own vehicle or a rental. Natures Edge is a gravel road with a fairly steep hill that is passable by small/medium cars in winter, but know your own limits, watch for ice, and drive safely. If you're not used to driving on narrow dirt or gravel roads, 4WD or all-wheel drive is encouraged.
