Get away from the hustle-and-bustle at The Escape Hatch on Lake Sinclair! Our home sleeps 11 and has unmatched views of Lake Sinclair. The sunsets are particularly amazing!

Relatively removed from the noise & congestion of any towns, The Escape Hatch offers a fun basecamp to relax and reconnect. Our three-floor home features a living area, kitchen, 1/2 bath, and Master Suite on the main floor; 2 bedrooms, a full bath, laundry room, kitchenette and family /game room on the bottom floor; and a loft bedroom with it's own bathroom and great views of the lake. We have a stunning wood-burning fireplace in the living room; a propane fire table on the porch; a second propane fire table on the dock; and an outdoor firepit on the water. The porch is fully screened offering views of the lake - no better place to listen to the wildlife while rocking in a swing r or lounging on the outdoor sofa. There are also two spacious open-air decks, the upper of which features an outdoor dining space. Like to cook? Use the gas grill on the deck or we have a small charcoal grill available as well. Relax in the porch swing as you watch the sun set, or have a glass of wine on the dock. Other amenities include high-speed internet, cornhole, darts, three tvs with Roku/Firesticks, and lots of books, games, and puzzles.

There's also the amazing HOT TUB added in 2024. The hot tub seats 7, has 48 jets, led lighting, and amazing views of the lake and the firepit.

New additions include:
* New refrigerator and new high-capacity washer & dryer (added in fall 2025)
* New front stairs; back stairs, and deck featuring cable tie railing for unobstructed lake views (completed in March 2026)
* New decking at boat house allowing for the canoe and kayaks to be close to the water (no hauling them down from the house!)
* New 5-foot wide stairs into the water that go all the way to the sandy lake bottom - easy to enter and exit the water! (completed Nov. 2025)
* Full-sized stand-up arcade game featuring more than 400 classic arcade games, including favorites like Galaga, Pac Man, Frogger, and Dig Dug.
* Newly expanded paver firepit area near the water - allows for more seating (completed March 2026)

And don't forget about the real star of the show - beautiful Lake Sinclair, named the cleanest body of water in Georgia! Enjoy access to a canoe, 2 kayaks, and floats galore. Our boat is not currently available to rent, but you can bring your own OR rent from several nearby places. The fishing at Lake Sinclair is also epic - we have several fishing rods to help you grab your catch of the day.

Located 30 mins from downtown Milledgeville by car (5-10 mins by boat); an hour and 30 minutes from Athens, and 2 hours from the Atlanta airport, The Escape Hatch is close enough to enjoy and far enough away to REALLY enjoy!

Our house isn't fancy, but it's fun...the best place to make memories with your own friends and family members!

Please note: our home is not ADA-accessible and is not suitable for small children, especially children who do not know how to swim. Pets are not allowed. There is also no land-line telephone at the property - cell service only. QUIET HOURS are in effect from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am as a courtesy to our neighbors.

Wonderful Vacation

We had a wonderful vacation! The home had just the right amount of space for our family, and we loved the area—it was peaceful and beautiful. The kids absolutely loved the house and the outdoor space. The owners were fantastic to work with—friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. There were so many little extras that made our trip easy and enjoyable. We would definitely love to stay again!

Nice Stay!

The grounds of the property is what made the stay great for us. Right on lake Sinclair, we were able to see the sunset with wine from the hot tub, the porch, or the dock. Outdoors was amazingly well-stocked with some fishing poles, Horseshoes, Corn Hole, Fire wood and a Hot Tub! There is even a screened in porch if the weather isn't the best. The house itself is basic, but clean and well stocked. Thanks for a great stay, we enjoyed ourselves.

We rented this lakefront getaway for a ladies' weekend. We had 13 women, and we all enjoyed the space. The porch and deck offer a beautiful view. There are lots of stairs to this property! Loft bed and bath, master on main, and two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. The only hiccup was we were counting on the pull-out couch bed but it was broken so two people had to sleep on couches. The home had plenty of gathering space. Would be great for a family as well.

Great time on the lake. Perfect set up for a family - 3 levels. Downstairs is like a small apartment. Owners responded very quickly with concerns/questions. List for where to find things was helpful. Relaxing family trip!

Our family enjoyed our time at this lake house! The lake is beautiful and very clean and not crowded! The house had kayaks and a canoe to enjoy. The hot tub was a big hit! A perfect way to wind down after a fun day on the lake! The lower level was perfect place for our teen boys to hang out and have their own space.

Fun Getaway!

House has everything you need & more. Host was very easy to communicate with. We loved having the gas grill to come home to & cook a nice meal. Margarita machine was a hit! We caught fish off the dock and saw an eagle on the island that is close to the house. Beautiful views!

Lake Sinclair- Escape Hatch

A great place to ancher away from the busy life. One of the best homes we have rented on the lake. Comfortable and quite. Well stocked kitchen with comfort beds and linens and everything you need to relax and unwind Fishing off the dock and lots of fun times in the water. The host was very responsive and informative with quick response. We had the best time and will request this house on our next trip.

Great long weekend

This is our 2nd annual friends group trip to Lake Sinclair. We loved staying on this part of the lake. House had room for everyone. Host was very easy to communicate with. Our boys loved roasting marshmallows over the fire after a fun day on the lake. Jet Ski lift was nice. It was also nice to have a mini kitchen on the bottoms floor for use with multiple families. Thanks again!

A great lake weekend!

We came for memorial day weekend and had an absolute blast. This house is one that's really lived in instead of one made for Vrbo, and it makes a world of difference. The bedside tables have iphone charging cords, the boat house is full of fun floaties, and the living room has games and dvds to watch. It's a very cozy house with an amazing view and a perfect dock for spending all day swimming and lounging in and on the lake. The host was very responsive and gracious, even offering to compensate for tiny inconveniences we had. All my friends and I would be delighted to come back!

Spring break 2024

April 2024 this was a nice 3 level home with plenty of room for a large group of travelers .the house had enough essentials for cooking at home meals as well as large gas grill for outdoor cooking. the view from inside the house was spectacular looking out across the lake and watching the sun go down. the back yard had enough space to play yard games. the fishing was good whether at the dock or on the boat. the host was very gracious greeting you , making sure where to find things in bad weather conditions and answering any questions. this was a great place to stay with family,

Lovely house with lovely view

Very nice and large house for our group. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep/hang out. The view of the lake is absolutely spectacular! Only a couple of negatives (and one is really just personal preference). 1. the kitchen lighting isn't great, which makes meal prep a bit more challenging when the sun's down. 2. the location is fairly remote. Again, that's a preference factor. If you're looking for something off the beaten path that also has all modern conveniences, this place is great! Location selection was my fault, as that wasn't something I was paying attention to, since I was looking at size, beds, etc. to fit our group. Outside of that, the house is well-stocked with everything you could need and then some. The host was very forthcoming with information and responsive. Very nice stay!

Our daughter graduated from the University of Georgia in 2023. In February of 2020 - just before Covid hit - we were trying to find a place to stay for our daughter's UGA Fencing tournament. It was a parent's weekend or something in town, so we couldn't find a hotel that was available. We stumbled upon Lake Sinclair and rented a house in the Crooked Creek area. We loved the quiet charm and quirkiness of the area, and when Covid hit we began thinking about a place for our family where we could spend more time together. We - along with our parents - bought The Escape Hatch in November 2020 and have loved it ever since. Unfortunately, we live in Florida a lot of the time, and since our son is still in school in Florida we cannot re-locate fully. We are there quite literally as often as we can be, but in the meantime we decided that our place should really be shared with other families. We have had hours of fun and laughter and memories on the Lake, and we hope you will have that same experience too.

Our house is fairly remote, yet has lovely, friendly neighbors and unmatched views of the open lake. The sunsets are really show-stoppers!

What makes this property unique

We aren't a real-estate company or "investors" - we actually love the area and the people, and we think sharing our home with others is a great way to use the property when we can't be there. Our house is also on a point, and has amazing lake views and sunsets you really have to see to believe!
