Wonderful experience at Lizzie’s Place
We’ve stayed at many homes through VRBO over the years, but this was our first time as the first ever guests! Our family, including two children and two dogs, very much enjoyed our stay at this 200+ year old farm house nestled among fields and woods in the mountains of Vermont’s northeast kingdom. We appreciated the king sized beds and cozy furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped to prepare all of our meals. The hosts were thoughtful enough to leave us a bountiful continental breakfast and a welcome basket, which was very much appreciated. We could see the work that had gone into renovating the house, and while there are still some projects left, it was comfortable and pleasant for our stay. We enjoyed exploring the property. Thank you so much!

Hello, My name is Kim Paquette. I have lived in Vermont all of my life. I'm a nurse by trade, my husband Michael a power lineman. We purchased our property seven years ago. It is 150 acres of land surrounding this rental property. Mary and Joseph Lizzie owned this farmhouse which sits on 1acre of land. They were long time owners of the home and raised their three children here. We purchased this home in August of 2022 from their daughters, it had sat vacant for six years. When we first looked at purchasing it, it was like walking into That Seventies Show. But when we looked harder we noticed just how amazing it was. The house was actually built in the late 1800's, we don't know the exact year because the town record dosen't show it so construction time is based on the type of construction for the era. It's original shell is hand hewned and hand pegged post and beam construction which dates it back to the late 1800's. We thought that was pretty cool. Since purchasing it we have renovated all rooms except the living room. We also are planning to complete kitchen Reno with new counter top and floor this fall. Our family has always called this home Lizzie's Place and the local people also know it as this too, so the name just stuck. Over the last several years we have worked hard to create some orchards and bring our pasture land back to what it once was, a working farm. This home was the original farmhouse to a dairy farm that existed here in the 1800's. It is our desire to create a farm here again but with apples orchards, blueberry and raspberry groves a vege stand and yes maybe a few beef cows grazing the pastures. It's all a work in progress. We hope you enjoy staying here and we are happy to share the simplicity and beauty of this place with you. Kindly Kim

Why they chose this property

Originally my husband and I resided in Weathersfield Vt, more around the middle of the state. This is where we raised our four boys and where we met a man named Lloyd Geirke. Lloyd was a man of astounding knowledge. His life was filled with many great adventures, but also great sadness. Lloyd owned this 153 acres that we now call home. He adored this property but by 70yrs of age he had fallen ill and no longer had the means to hang onto it financially. So he began to search for someone he could trust to offer this property to. Oh believe me when I say he wasn't going to let it go to just any ol person. Over a couple of years of deep conversations with my husband Michael, he decided to let us in on his carved out gem he had here in the NEK. He used to say, "There is no Place, like this Place, any Place. This must be the Place." And we came to know just what he was talking about when we came up here the very first time. The beauty of this land alone took our breath away, not to mention the friendly kindness of the residents of this little community. We may not have all the amenities and convenience a larger town has, but we sure do top them when it comes to star gazing, fire chats with neighbors, clean mountain air and getting down with nature. This place is everything we dreamed it would be. It is the way life used to be when we were growing up and the way it should be ..

What makes this property unique

Our property has lots of wide open spaces for exploring, the pasture just behind our rental is a direct access route to the VAST snowmobiling trails. Part of our property borders the Nalhegan river. We have a walking trail through our spruce Grove which is just magical if you feel like a stroll. And we are within 1 hour of many of the White Mountain attractions too including Mount Washington, Santa's Village, and Clarks Trading Post. But the views alone will make you want to come back for a second visit.
