About this property
Modern Comfort Meets Historic Railroad Charm
Experience a Unique Piece of Alaskan History—Historic Railroad Home with Modern Comfort & Space for All
Once a 1950s Alaska Railroad Section House, this unique home was relocated to a scenic hillside in the '60s and has been lovingly restored to blend modern comfort with its vintage soul. Industrial accents—like exposed steel beams and a commemorative plaque—pay tribute to its storied past.
The open-concept great room is the heart of the home, inviting your group to gather and relax. Large windows flood the space with natural light, while blackout shades ensure peaceful sleep during the midnight sun. Unwind by the fireplace, mix a drink at the wet bar, or enjoy a movie on the 75" smart TV.
The fully equipped kitchen features modern appliances and a unique footrest made from repurposed copper pipes. An extra fridge/freezer in the utility room provides ample space for your groceries or fresh Alaskan catch. Enjoy meals together in the formal dining room or take the evening outside.
Step into the fenced yard to enjoy the crisp Alaskan air. Your private outdoor oasis includes:
• A gas BBQ grill and outdoor dining area
• Comfortable outdoor furniture and patio dining set
For more entertainment, a separate media room offers a 55" smart TV and a sleeper sofa, perfect for movie nights. You'll also find board games, an indoor/outdoor ping pong table, and exercise equipment for some indoor fun.
When it's time to rest, the upstairs master suite provides a spa-like retreat with a king bed, a luxurious Jacuzzi tub, and a separate double shower. Three additional queen bedrooms share a full bathroom stocked with essentials.
This home is perfect for families and groups, offering:
• A dedicated workspace
• A full laundry room
• Board games for all ages
• Family essentials including a crib, pack 'n play, high chair, and children's dinnerware
Guest Access
You will have exclusive access to the entire house, garage, and fenced yard during your stay. A unique code for the keyless entry will be provided before your arrival.

About the host
Hosted by Rowena
Cam lived in Alaska 45+ years. He enjoyed the opportunities to travel to most areas of the State. Worked in the fishing, hunting and tourism industries. Loves all things Alaska and being able to share the experiences he has had. This is the family home where he raised his children.
Why they chose this property
It is a quiet mid-hillside home on the south side of Anchorage. Freshly remodeled with easy access to a vast number of hiking and outdoor activities in the Anchorage area. We look forward to hosting you at your home in Alaska.
What makes this property unique
Built in the 50s as a home for the workers building the Alaska Railroad, the home was moved to this neighborhood in 1965. That adds a little bit of history, a little bit of quirky, and a lot of space in a nice, quiet owner-occupied neighborhood that's close to everything families and large groups want from a home away from home.
