About this property
Pet friendly, cozy, modest cape, two bedrooms
You, those in your party and your pet(s) will have this modest, quirky, cozy, cape style, home all to yourself. There are two bedrooms and a pullout loveseat on the main level.
It is accessible to all Berkshire cultural sites including Mass MoCA and The Clark. Tanglewood is about 50 minutes south. Jiminy Peak Ski Resort is about 25 minutes away.
Conveniently located in the Northwestern corner of the state, the Vermont state line is less than five minutes away and the New York state line is less than 15 minutes away. The Williams College campus is within walking distance and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is about 10 minutes away.
A paved multi-use walking/biking trail is within walking distance and features access to the nearby Hoosic River and views of the mountains.
This cozy cape style cottage has two bedrooms with 2 full-sized beds, living room, porch, free parking, small laundry, kitchen, full bath, central heat and a wood stove. The two bedrooms have blackout curtains and shades. The yard is a generous size but not fenced in.
The listing has two bedrooms and a single pullout couch in the living room. It is a private residence and you and your guests will have the first floor all to yourselves.
A wood stove, with an ample supply of wood, is located in the living room to complement the central forced hot air heat. In the summer, ceiling fans and two air conditioners cool the space.
The walls of this listing are decorated with artwork including paintings by my late Aunt Shirley, my photographs and the work of local artists.
Since my residence is literally less than two miles away in North Adams I am very close by and available by phone.
I have been doing short-term rentals since September of 2021, and have super host status. I am committed to its success so I appreciate and am receptive to your feedback. I am new to Vrbo as of May of 2024 so I need some reviews of this listing.
While smoking is allowed on premises, it must be done outdoors, preferably on the porch. All cigarette butts must be disposed of in the metal garbage can on the porch outside.
Well-behaved pets are always welcome. I just request that you pick up after your pets and put their waste in the metal garbage can on the porch outside.
This home has been in my family since 1983 and is very sentimental to me.
The house was also home to many pets including cats and dogs, so if you are extra-sensitive or have severe allergies to pets, this listing will not be right for you as it continues to be pet friendly.
The house is cleaned thoroughly after each guest with pride. We do not use any products to cover up odors and our cleaning products do not have strong scents.
Guests can be assured that their bedding and towels have been laundered thoroughly.
Guest access
The house can be accessed easily by a keypad. There is ample free parking in front of the house and additional parking in the back. Please do not park in front of the garage. The house is on a main road so it should be easy to find and navigate from. There is a second floor to the home that is not open to guests and is used primarily for storage. The basement is accessible to long-term guests primarily who would have access to a larger washer and dryer. An apartment size washer/dry unit is located upstairs for small loads.
A vintage 1990 Mazda Miata is stored in the garage and an inflatable hot tub is located in a gazebo in the back yard. Neither of these are for guest use.
I am only comfortable hosting guests through the app so please do not request that I work with you off the app.

About the host
Hosted by Gillian Jones

My family moved to the Berkshires in 1982 and into this listing in 1983. My mother and I resided at the property until May of 2021.
I work full-time as a photojournalist at The Berkshire Eagle, an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts which is also my Alma Mater, and I do freelance photography such as special events and weddings.
I work a lot of flexible hours and being an Airbnb host fits well into my lifestyle.
As an ambassador of the area I love giving visitors a safe and comfortable place to say. Whether they are staying for one night or several weeks, I treat my guests with respect. I live by the Golden Rule.

Why they chose this property
The house has been in my family since 1983 and has seen many changes over the last four decades, including the addition of rk Miles.
Many of the neighbors have lived in their homes for years including the Wilsons next door at 747 and across the street. The Wilsons have two lovely dogs in their fenced in yard. A recent addition of chickens to some neighbors down the street add to the charm of the area. Just be careful because they like to cross the street!

What makes this property unique
The pet friendly aspect is important. I love pets and I find people with pets are just great guests!
The house is eclectic and different as it is decorated with my photographs, local artists and my late Aunt Shirley who was a prolific painter. She was my mother's sister and my godmother. She died in 1997.
I am committed to my guest's comfort and needs.
As the property was once my home, I feel that every guest is special and entitled to a unique experience.
