Our lodge Hamragil is a really precious property. Therefore it was very enjoyable to communicate with Richard Pulliam in the preparation of the stay, giving the feeling of how caring and helpful he was in all concerns.
Absolutely amazing location, just a short drive to Akureyri for any groceries, restaurants or shopping you may like to do, while feeling remote and relaxed in nature. Short distance to amazing hikes, and a feeling of being separated from the hustle and crowds that summer in reykjavik possesses.

It was really nice meeting you, guys.
Wishing you all the best, hope to see you again some day!
We love being in the country. The house surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It worked perfectly for our plans. We went to all the attractions on the north end and east . Visited Raufarhofn, Husavik , Arttic Henge, Egilsstadir seeing waterfalls, caldrons, amazing canyons, lighthouses, sheep and horses. Great restaurant , Farm to Table I believe was the name. Akuyeri was a short drive away. Great place to stay and explore.
We had a lovely time and felt so relaxed. The common is large for everyone to gather to eat and play games. We loved having a soak in the geothermal pot in the evening and having my morning coffee on the porch overlooking so much beauty.

Loved this place. Our 7 travelers were very comfortable with lots of space for all. The views and the setting…. As beautiful as it was peaceful and private. The babbling brook was a wonderful surprise. The geothermal hot tub is a true gem!.

You were great guests, John, and we would be very happy to see you around again some day. Anytime at all -like the Beatles say!
Our family rated this our favorite house in Iceland! The views are just stunning from every direction. We spent the day in Akureyi (short 15 minute drive), visited the awesome Godafoss waterfall (15 minute drive), and Lake Myvatn attractions (45 minutes). You’ll love having morning coffee in the deck!

A lot of thanks towards our services. You all will always be welcome in our cottages!
We were impressed from the moment we entered the property. It was clean, well stocked with amenities for our stay and extremely spacious for our family. For me personally the hot tub was the highlight of the stay and sitting outside in a warm tub under the wintery night sky was just magical.
The only thing to note, and nothing to do with the property but there is a toll on the tunnel through the mountain on the fastest way to the close town of akureyri at 1800ISK per way.

Mom, Dad and Teen Boys Who Love Outdoors and also Perfect Lodging
We just loved this property. This was a perfect location for us, out in the country, but so close to Akureyri! We love a clean, newer feel place that feels like home. This place was absolutely perfect! Everything was in order, all communication was perfect and timely. Jon was just wonderful. Couldn't have been better. Hope to be back. Thank you Jon!

Many thanks for your kind words towards our vacation cottage Hamragil and towards me :-). Hope you have had a sound & safe journey back -and btw: the caretaker of the lodge made a special comment to us about your clean and tidy leaving of house Hamragil!
Welcome again to any of our houses, anytime.
Hamragil was a fantastic place to stay. There is so much room to move around. The place was clean and had just the right amount of decorating. We enjoyed the deck, bbq, and hot tub multiple nights. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and all set up for us. We appreciated the information brochures about the area and even found new spots to explore from the art on the walls. Google photo search helped us with this! We highly recommend this home for anyone in the Akureyri area. It was an excellent location to explore Akureyri, Húsavík, and the Diamond Circle. One thing to note is that there are stairs from the parking area to the house. It wasn’t a problem for us but maybe for others.

Hamragil was awesome!
First of all, Jon was fantastic. I had several questions before our trip and he answered all of them via email very quickly. The property is wonderful. It was very secluded and very comfortable. There were 6 of us staying at the property and we had 4 other friends that came over from Akureyi and joined us for dinner and cards. It was perfect for 10 people. We cooked breakfast each morning and dinner each night. The location is 15 minutes from Godafoss falls and convenient to Akureyi and the Lake Myvatn are. I highly recommend this property.

Just as life at Hamragil should be! Many thanks for your review, Scott.
We had a great time. The property was clean and spacious for our family of 5. The only thing we weren’t aware of was that the tunnel to Akureyri was between the house and the town, so a quick jaunt into taunt meant an $11 toll each way. However, we just took the slightly longer, toll-free way, around the tunnel which was lovely and picturesque. That might be a problem for winter travelers, however, as I understand that bypass is a bit treacherous. That being said, we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again if we come back. Totally recommend it.

Many thanks Meg, for your good words to us and one of our vacation cottages, Hamragil. But also for pointing out, there could be more information on the pay-tunnel. I’ll definitely have a closer look at this issue. Glad you managed to find the bypass of this only pay-tunnel on Iceland -at the moment.
If you visit Iceland again we would be happy to host you in any of our six houses!
Yours,
Jon Baldur.
First of all, I will give Jon 6 stars in terms of communication. Jon was very helpful and super responsive.
Overall, the house is clean. However, I found the bathrooms are not as clean. The shower curtains need to be given a bit deep cleaning. The shower in the laundry room is not clean, so we didn't want to use it. However, the laundry room itself is clean and spacious with lots of countertops. Since we are a family of 3, one bathroom is enough.
We love the house location. It is close to the the town of Akureyri; also, it is convenient to visit all attractions around the Diamond Circle.
I recommend staying in Jon's property if you plan to visit the north.

A little of of town (15 min via toll, 25 over pass) but great scenery and quiet, which is what we were going for. Good size for our group of 8, kids had a blast picking wild blueberries right on the property. Saw the northern lights while sitting in the hot pot!
A Wonderful, Dreamy Stay in a Gorgeous River Valley
We had an amazing week at Hamragil. (It was our favorite place we stayed in all of Iceland!) The view is amazing. The hot pot is extraordinary. Everything about our stay was perfect. Jon is the ideal host -- extremely responsive & quick to communicate with us about potential winter storms. The house is well-stocked, clean, comfortable. My kids found sleds in the shed & there are perfect sledding hills right on the property. The house is in a great location to explore everything in Akureyri, Husavik, Myvatn. If you are considering booking Hamragil, do it! You will be well taken care of & you will not regret it!!

Merci Jon🤗😁
