About this property

Cabin on the Big Sioux River with a 100 acre wood.

This a home that was built in 2012. It is outfitted with new everything, appliances, beds, furniture, gas grill, linens, everything.Very open floor plan with 25 foot ceiling in the great room. Huge 17 foot high fireplace in the great room. Open balcony above with 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom. The walkout basement level is now finished, it now has 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds and 3 couches. So there are five beds in all, a king sized one in the master bedroom, 2 queen sized beds in the upper loft area and 2 queen sized beds in the basement. hot tub out back. Huge deck off the great room. The back of the home faces SW overlooking the beautiful river valley. The lights of Sioux Falls can be seen in the distance 12 miles away.

Perfect for a Weekend Getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay at this house. The fireplaces are cozy, there's so much room to spread out, and the hot tub is an added bonus we enjoyed. The house in the country was so quiet and a wonderful change from the city.

Girls Weekend

The house was perfect for 10 women. Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms. The great room and kitchen are spacious for hanging out. The house and property are beautiful. We had great weather so lots of deck time and an amazing hike to the river. The hot tub is big and a nice touch. The 360 views are stunning. I would highly recommend this home.

Wonderful get-away place

The home is beautiful and in a wonderfully secluded area. Yet, it is close enough to the city of Sioux Falls to take advantage of the many opportunities in the city -- zoo, butterfly house and aquarium, Falls Park, etc. -- things that we did.

Perfect getaway without traveling far

This was the perfect house to celebrate some milestones with a close group of friends! There was plenty of space to gather without being crowded in both indoor and outdoor spaces. The house is beautiful and the location and views were amazing. The house was clean and supplied with every amenity you would need.

Fun Getaway

Rented the cabin for my granddaughters 13 birthday. She got to bring some friends with her to the cabin. We made a girls' weekend out of it. Unfortunately, we couldn't have any bonfires as it was dry and this particular weekend was VERY windy. The kids, however, had a blast exploring and the hot tub was a big hit with them. Easy and fast communication with the host. The only problem I had was with the door, I had a hard time getting it to unlock, I'm sure that was user error. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.

Wooded Oasis

Such a lovely and well-appointed property close to Sioux Falls. We had a girls weekend at this property and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hottub was wonderful, the kitchen was well stocked, and so much space for everyone. We had lots of laughs and will return for another girls weekend.

Extended family getaway

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property. It is the perfect size for our extended family of 10. The large open Kitchen/Dining/Living space is perfect for us all to be together doing multiple activities. It is so peaceful on the property. The house is well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Family weekend

Beautiful home, views are amazing! Lots of room to hang out with family or friends. Chairs on main level are a bit uncomfortable. Beds are comfy but super soft. Definitely recommend staying here. Hope to return sometime in the future.

Fun times !

This was our fourth time staying at the Sanctuary and it was just as much fun this time as the first. We love the wildlife and secluded area. The hot tub is always a hit. Nice that the kitchen is furnished too. We’ll probably come back again in the near future. Thx.

Beautiful, large home surrounded by nature and solitude.

We had a wonderful stay over Labor Day weekend with family. Lots of beds (and they were super comfy) and plenty of room to spread out. I’m was 100 degrees the whole weekend and the A/C did a pretty great job keeping up - even with all the windows. We didn’t take advantage of the hot tub, because the weather was so warm, but we definitely enjoyed the pool table, foosball, and game table. Owners were very quick to respond and overall fantastic!!

Family Thanksgiving

This was our 5th year using Kevin’s property for a gathering place for an early family Thanksgiving celebration. We love the area and accommodations! We’re able to all eat together in the great room area. The kitchen is well equipped and the openness makes it easy and enjoyable for preparing and serving. Kevin is prompt in communicating. We’ve never had issues during our weekend. We book for the next year before leaving!

Amazing Getaway

Booked this stay with a group of 7 girlfriends to reconnect over a weekend. The location to Sioux Falls is super convenient and the space itself was perfect for this size of group to spend time together. The facilities we're clean and beautiful. There were enough towels, blankets, etc. Kitchen was very well-stocked with utensils, pans, etc. Check our process was simple and not too labor-intensicellve. Keep an eye out for deer and turkeys as you're arriving to the place and make sure you have an AWD vehicle in your party if staying during the winter. We plan on making this a yearly stay!

Everything you need for R&R

This is a fantastic property. We rented this property for a girls’ weekend. The property is very clean and well-kept. The kitchen has anything you need to cook/eat while you are there. The furniture is clean and comfortable. The beds were great. The hot tub was in excellent condition and overlooks the valley/ sunset. No complaints at all about this property and I hope to return when the weather is nicer in order to go hiking on the property. The property is about 20 minutes from Sioux Falls and about 15 minuets from Harrisburg, SD if you are looking for something to do or need groceries.

I'm a real estate broker and my wife, Garn, is a Nurse Practitioner at Avera Behavioral Health in Sioux Falls. When we bought this property we had the intention to develop it with 5 or 6 homes with privacy and fantastic river views. We just have not been able to part with any of it and decided to just share it with everyone with this vacation rental home....

Why they chose this property

We found this beautiful piece of real estate, were finally able to purchase it about 20 years ago and decided we really just wanted to share it with the world a little. It had been in the same family for 3 generations, ever since it was aquired from the government over 100 years ago. It has not had much human activity over the years, just quietly co-existing along a mile of the Big Sioux River. Whitetail deer, pheasants and turkeys enjoy the solitude there.

What makes this property unique

We've really enjoyed hiking the property over the years. Just pick a deer trail and follow it and discover the beauties of nature.

You can hunt, hike or ride horse at either Hidden Bridge or Peterson Preserve which adjoins our property to the East and North.
