Casa Pergola is a once olive mill, lovingly restored farmhouse set in the beautiful Sicilian countryside. The house is a short drive to the beaches and coastal villages of the north coast. Vibrant Palermo "Italy's City of Culture for 2018" is 30 minutes away, and the Madonie Mountain hill cities are a short drive to the East. In winter there is skiing in the mountains and beautiful nights by the fire place which is massive and romantic. Some amenities include heated pool, and hand made shower mosaics in the bathrooms. The bedrooms are beautiful and comfortable.
Casa Pergola is a swimmers delight. A private 3.5 X 11 meter pool here at the house and beautiful beaches with ancient towers and seaside villages are a short distance away. We have a large barbecue area and outdoor dining is either under the olive trees, shade of the wisteria or on our dramatic roof terrace. Come and stay I guarantee you will be happy you did!

The property was everything promised and more. We had 2 wonderful dinners cooked by Bruno and Giovanni. The gardens were just amazing and the pool was lovely and warm. The hosts made our stay unforgettable. We will definitely be back
Our week at Casa Pergola was nothing short of magical. My wife and I, along with another close couple, stayed seven days and were blown away by the beauty, comfort, and hospitality. Paul and David are exceptional hosts—warm, attentive, and never intrusive. Paul met us at the main road and guided us in personally (tip: rent an SUV or 4WD for the final stretch). The villa is a beautifully restored 15th-century olive mill, spotless and full of charm. The grounds are immaculate, the views over the Sicilian hills and Lake Rosamarina are stunning, and the heated pool—adjusted to our exact preference—was perfect for lounging and relaxing.A highlight was dinner by Chef Bruno, who prepared a gourmet Sicilian meal right at the villa. Absolutely unforgettable!Whether you’re exploring nearby Cefalù and Caccamo or just soaking in the tranquility of the property, Casa Pergola offers a five-star experience from start to finish. Paul and David accommodated every request, including a last-minute airport transfer, with ease and joy.We left relaxed, grateful, and already planning our return. Highly recommended!
Paul is A... couldn't be kinder, and an extremely gracious host. Casa Pergola is a true Italian experience. The kids were in the heated pool everyday, thanks to lovely weather, which gave the adults time to relax and enjoy Italian wine and the beautiful vistas. Renting a 4 wheel drive is a must. La sicilia e bellissima!
A true hidden gem: Art, beauty and heart in the Sicilian hills
Casa Pergola is a true hidden gem, exceeding even my wildest expectations! This charming home is more than just a villa; it's a living art piece. Perched high in the hills of Caccamo, this beautifully restored 15th-century olive mill is a testament to Paul and David's passion and artistry. Paul and David have poured their heart and soul into creating an artistic oasis, filled with beauty, comfort, and meticulous detail – truly, no stone was left unturned. While the journey off the beaten path is for the adventurous, the reward is immeasurable; I never wanted to leave. The villa served as a fantastic base for exploring western Sicily. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly connecting with the incredible hosts, Paul and David – two truly amazing people we feel blessed to have met. And for an unforgettable culinary experience, be sure to have Bruno cook for you. His meals were another highlight of our stay at Casa Pergola. We can’t wait to come back again and again!!
Beautiful converted olive mill. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. BBQ and outside dining / cabana next to the pool were ideal and much used.
Paul and David were fabulous hosts. Very welcoming and responsive. A great stay!!
Our relaxing accommodation for 10 days in Sicily was nothing short than a piece of paradise. Accommodation beautifully renovated with decor that complimented the old style olive mill. Beds exceptionally comfortable! Surrounding gardens a delight to explore. However, our hosts were beyond super! In fact they became like family always there when we needed them while also allowing for privacy. They helped our trip become unforgettable.
Paul was so helpful and accommodating! The house as fabulous and the outdoor space and gardens were wonderful! We enjoyed our week very much! Thanks for everything!
Casa Pergola is a a rare find: a beautiful comfortable home with sweeping views of a lake and mountains surrounded by olive groves, flowers and fruit trees. The outdoor space is incredible including a beautiful pool and outdoor fireplace and "family room ". The kitchen is great for cooking as well. Paul and David are fabulous hosts and feel like old friends and steered us the right way time and again including having Chef Bruno and Giovanni prepare a gourmet dinner. In all, a wonderful vacation you'll always cherish.
We loved our stay at Casa Pergola. It is very comfortable as well as beautifully thoughtfully designed, with so many unique features mostly made or created by the 2 artist owners Paul and David. Our favourite place was the pool house— perfect through the scorching hot days and the evenings. Paul was extremely helpful , making suggestions where to go, how to get places even making reservations.
We could not have chosen a more wonderful place. The beauty and peacefulness of the area filled all our souls. The roads around it though are quite rough so a higher car is better.
This is an incredibly special place.

We couldn’t be happier with our stay. The home is beautiful, charming and unique, the setting divine and the owner anticipated our every need and then some. Were it possible to give 10 stars, I’d give them in every category!
Caccamo is well located to explore the whole island (but it is a shame to leave the home) and the owner, who speaks English and Italian, knows Sicily and its most beautiful spots and is happy to point you in the right direction.
Our Caccamo stay was perfect- we are so very fortunate to have been there - and have left there relaxed, renewed and ready to enjoy wonderful memories of an extraordinary stay.
We spent 14 Days, three married couples around 70 years, on Paul and David's beautiful property in a beautiful Mediterraneum garden and a wide view of the reservoir and an agricultural area. Paul and David were fantastic hosts who catered to our every need while being discreet and extremely friendly, treating us like good friends. The two live nearby and can be contacted at any time. They have helped ensure that the holiday will be unforgettable for all of us.
All things considered, not perfect but still great.
My wife and I stayed a week and really enjoyed the property. The outdoor spaces in particular are awesome. Spacious, varied, shaded, sun, views from everywhere, lovely garden and plantings.
The house itself is well done and equipped, cozy but kind of small.
I would recommend putting screen doors (yes I know they don't exist in Europe) on the doors so you can get fresh air without leaving them wide open to the creatures and insects. Lastly, the roads leading to the house are pretty rough, and an SUV with a little extra clearance would be wise. The roads also add time to wherever you want to go. Just remember, you are not walking to town, and it is 15 minutes to drive to any town, so if you like convenience over privacy, this may not be the one for you.
But it really is a great spot, and definitely have Bruno cook you dinner. Worth every Euro.
We had a wonderful time at Casa Pergola. The place is so much more than the beautiful pictures in the listing. It has to be experienced in person.
One of the standout features of this villa is its outdoor spaces. A large swimming pool overlooking the countryside, well-manicured gardens, and multiple terraces provide ample opportunities for relaxation and outdoor dining.
Overall, this spectacular villa near Caccamo, Sicily, is a perfect choice for those seeking a luxurious retreat in a stunning setting. Whether you're looking to unwind by the pool, explore the nearby towns, or simply soak in the beauty of the Sicilian countryside, this villa offers an unforgettable experience.
The hosts of the villa were so generous with their time, their warm hospitality and attention to detail, making guests feel welcomed and pampered throughout their stay.
The pictures of this property are amazing and I promise it is even better in person. You cannot turn a corner without seeing something created with artistry and beauty, whether it’s the gardens or some small detail in the house. It was a gorgeous space to hang out with our teens. Each day we took a small sojourn to Cefalù or Caccamo or Trabia. We all agreed the best part was hanging out at the house, listening to the sheep bells and playing cards. We had Bruno cook once, and if we do it again, I’d have him come every night! Further, Paul and David are wonderful hosts: meeting us after an extremely delayed flight, helping me get medical help for a wasp sting, picking up lost luggage…This is a house for deep settling and restoration. My kids didn’t even want music by the pool because they wanted to hear the bells and the trees and the birds. Go, read Sicilian novels by the pool, eat wonderful food and delight!
We spent a week at Casa Pergola with our two teenagers and had the most wonderful time! We arrived to Paul and David helping us with our luggage and walking us through the amenities of the beautiful home and expansive garden and pool. The views are absolutely breathtaking and you immediately feel that you’ve escaped to somewhere very, very special. As hosts, Paul and David leave nothing to be desired…the house is extremely well-stocked with all that you need, including wine and coffee. They also helped us book reservations at wonderful local restaurants as well as offered insightful advice for excursions. If there was any small thing we needed, they were prompt to respond. Truly exceptional hosts! Also, we followed others’ advice and booked two nights of dinner by Bruno and Giovanni. If you enjoy gourmet dining, THIS IS A MUST DO! The food and presentation are five-star, knock-your-socks-off caliber, not to mention they are both delightful to talk to. Overall, staying at Casa Pergola imprinted on our family in a big way. We will be back, for sure!
My family and I stayed here for a week over the summer, it was our final week of almost a month stay in Italy. As other reviews have stated this house was incredible! It had everything we needed, the most stunning views and literally was a work of art. As we arrived there were even rolled up towels on every chair by the pool like a resort. Also as mentioned the road getting there was rough, about 12 minutes off the main road to town. Make sure to have a decent car for a rocky dirt road, but trust me when you arrive you will be blown away! Paul & David were amazing hosts, gave us tons of info on the area, and even helped us carry in our bags. Their private chef recommendation is also an absolute must! I would go again and book Chef Bruno at least twice next time. It was the perfect place to end our trip. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Paul and David’s amazing property! The house was very well equipped, and the kitchen was perfect for those who enjoy cooking! The beautiful fireplace and wood burning stove made sure our winter stay was cozy the whole time. They also took the time to make the décor festive for the holiday season. We truly felt like we were in more than just a vacation rental. The views cannot be more beautiful as you are surrounded by nature. Do a big shop before you arrive, and you can cook and relax in solitude. As hosts Paul and David are amazingly attentive and Chef Bruno prepares such an amazing evening dinner. They all offer great advice on what to do in the surrounding area; if you ever decide to leave the house that is. We cannot recommend this place enough. We wish we could have stayed longer and were genuinely sad to have to leave.

“Priceless time and unbelievable stay in this heaven on earth!!!”
We just returned from 2 weeks in Italy and I must say that Casa Pergola was our favorite place out of all our stays! Paul and David could not have been more welcoming and accommodating!!! They even arranged for a lovely woman, Stefania, to accompany us to visit my great grandfather's town, Mezzojuso where she translated and navigated for us. The house and setting is unbelievable, our pictures do not do this rental justice. The home is beautifully decorated, all amenities are present and it was truly heaven to wake up to every morning. I have been a reviewer on Tripadvisor for many years, five star resorts and exceptional accommodations and I don't think I have ever stayed in such a memorable place with such wonderful hosts. They truly serve their guests while providing privacy and information when needed. We are already planning to book for next year and feel we have made new friends for a lifetime! Molto Grazie, Paul and David!!!
I would give this place 20Stars if possible! Casa Pergola is more beautiful in person the pictures do not do it justice. The beds are amazingly comfortable. I never sleep when I’m away and I slept till 11:00! We ventured out and visited areas around Sicily but our favorite place was the house. We had fires poolside at night and ate outside often.
Paul and David were incredible hosts and went above and beyond what would be expected! They get 100 stars! The are both wonderful, kind, smart, funny and just two of the loveliest people you will ever meet.
Dinners with Chef Bruno were the BEST food we had during our 15 days in Italy !
Once you arrive you feel welcome and at home. My soul breathed a sigh of relief just entering the house.
The good news is that you will not regret renting Casa Pergola for your vacation in Sicily. The bad news is every other place you rent after staying in the beautiful home will be a disappointment.
We loved our time there. I cried when I had to leave. I’ve never done that on any vacation.
If you are reading this review after booking, keep reading. If you haven’t booked, stop reading, book this Villa, then come back to carry on reading.
Like a couple of previous reviewers I secretly want to tell you to book somewhere else so Paul and David’s beautiful property is more likely to be free in the future. We’ve rented villas around Europe for many years, some basic, some good, some very good. None have been like this. Casa Pergola is stunning. Not just because of the view of the lake and mountains, the large terrace and pool or the fact Paul and David have created a stylish yet comfortable home. It isn’t even the little cupboard items that you normally have to go straight out and buy with a hired villa but are already provided here.
All of those things added up really do make this a wonderful place to stay but it’s the warm welcome and care from Paul and David that set this visit so far ahead of others.
The villa is down a stone track, I hired a Compact and it was fine (including at night) and Paul came to meet us at the road to guide us in after the clear instructions got us to the meeting point. He also brought over some food and wine over the first couple of days so we didn’t need to do a big shop.
On our first night Bruno and Giovanni created a fantastic dining experience (so good we booked them twice more.) The food is wonderful, and it is great value for the courses and care they put into it. They are also charming and so welcoming.
The villa has good aircon, a great terrace and the pictures do not do the views justice. Thoroughly recommended and the easiest five stars I’ve ever given
An amazing villa, full of character and style. Gorgeous outdoor pool and dining area with the most lush plants and greenery , little alcoves and fantastic views of the surrounding area. Inside there is everything you could need with super comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and air conditioning. Paul and David could not be more friendly and helpful in giving great local advice on beaches to visit and restaurants. Didn’t want to leave!

About the host
Hosted by Paul Mahoney
We, David and Paul, both come from artistic backgrounds. Paul was a potter in Mid-Coast Maine and David a decorative painter, created murals and hand painted furniture working throughout the United States and Tuscany. We moved to Sicily in search of something unspoiled and authentic. What we found was an amazing island steeped in history, a food culture that honors a tradition of eating fresh and in season foods, and a life style that puts 'LIVING WELL' in front of everything else (with the exception of 'La Famiglia' of course), No one loves 'family' more than the Sicilians. A Sicilian friend once warned me 'You better be careful, if you are liked the Sicilians will drag you into their family!'
Why they chose this property
This is a house for artists, romantics, gardeners and swimmers. Really anyone who searches for natural beauty, a place to decompress, to breath, to be rejuvenated. Casa Pergola is perfect for anyone who wants to reconnect with loved ones. For those seeking an authentic urban experience, Palermo which was "Italy's City of Culture for 2018", is just 30 minutes away. Your time here will be unspoiled and as private as you wish.
What makes this property unique
The house is wonderfully private. Even when the house is full there are always little private spaces to go to when you need to recharge, whether it be the spacious pool house with fireplace, shaded garden courtyard or dramatic roof terrace. When our guests do have to return home they do so with some reluctance, for many of them Casa Pergola was a slice of heaven that is hard to leave behind.
