We had a great time again this year! There was even more seating in the living room which gave us more room to relax. We spent a lot of time on the deck too. The cottage was very well stocked with everything we might need while we were there.
The house was very clean and spacious! Had everything one needs for vacation. We truly enjoyed our time there and had grandchildren for a few days who had a blast! Game room was fun for all!!
We had the whole family: from 5 weeks to 87 years and everyone in between. The house had so many great areas and activities that we were all able to do something fun and new. Owner was so helpful and attentive. As pictured there are numerous stairs, but needed to achieve the calm lake and views. Made memories for life.
Our group consisted of cousins and sons to do some ice fishing and to hang out. The place had everything we needed in the kitchen. Plenty of room for everyone. Host was very responsive to our questions.
Loved most everything about this place and the lake. We did have a couple bumps in the road which were quickly fixed by Phil.
There are a lot of stairs but if you can handle them it’s not a problem.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this house. The house was clean, well stocked and very comfortable. We spent most of our time on the deck overlooking the lake or on the lake (swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing). The kids loved the game room - lots of options to keep them entertained. And communication with the owner was quick and easy. Would highly recommend!
A wonderful place to relax. Clean, tidy, with beautiful views. You can use kayaks and rent a boat. Beautiful, amazing days with the rising and setting sun. Thank you so much. I will definitely return here.
Thank you
Ursula
We had a fabulous stay his year. The lake was beautiful and even had a pair of nesting loons on it. The swimming was a little silty but cool and refreshing with a sandy walk in beach. Most of us caught a few panfish right off the pier but my lucky sister caught a 12 inch largemouth bass. We really enjoyed the deck especially with the extra furniture and umbrella and loved the new location for the firepit.
I recently stayed at a charming lake house hosted by Phil, and it was an incredible experience. The location was perfect, offering breathtaking views of the serene lake right from the living room. The house itself was immaculate, cozy, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Phil was an exceptional host, always responsive and attentive to our needs, ensuring that our stay was nothing short of perfect. His local recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our overall experience. I highly recommend this lake house for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway

We enjoyed being outside at the lake. The kayaks were fun and the boys enjoyed fishing at the lake. The tap water inside the house in the kitchen and bathrooms had a really bad smell. There was a note from the homeowner in the kitchen stating that all kitchen items and utensils needed to be sanitized with bleach before use which made us worry that the water was not clean since it smelled so bad. Therefore we decided not to cook in the kitchen at all.The stairs down to the basement were very steep and narrow and made of tile so I would not recommend small children unless you take your own baby gates. Two of the bedrooms are in the basement which is very dark because one bedroom has no windows at all and the other only has a tiny window that cannot be opened. The whole basement is very dark and cold so we did not want to spend any time down there even though there were games down there.

Glad you enjoyed your visit outside and it's unfortunate you didn't enjoy inside the house equally.
The note and provided bleach about sanitizing dishes is a County Health Department requirement of all short term rentals. There is nothing wrong with our water. Instead of a wrong assumption, a quick message to us would have cleared that up, but we didn't hear from you during your visit.
We have a solid hand rail for the stairs going down as well as a retractable baby gate on the deck stairs for safety reasons. We've had many young kids stay at our place and this is the first concern on that.
For the other items, if I can make an assumption, you must have municipal water and came to the wedding from an area of the country that normally doesn't have basements like in WI. We are on well water and with changes to the water table, we've had several severe downpours this summer, temporary odors normally happen with well water. Again, the water is safe to drink and use. We have a house water softener and for drinking water, that's why we have a reverse osmosis system in the upstairs for removing any odors or taste.
Our listing shows that 2 bedrooms are on the main floor and 2 are downstairs. Adding large windows to a basement (foundation of the house) isn't advised for majority of basements like ours. We will look into ways to improve lighting downstairs. Temperatures in basements are always much cooler which guests have appreciated on hot summer days.
It's unfortunate our house wasn't what you wanted but we hope your next VRBO rental someplace is perfect for your vacation.
Please don't let my review discourage you; this place was FANTASTIC! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!
The property was recently purchased so it's possible the new owners may not have yet had an opportunity to be their own guests and spend a few nights at the property.
We greatly enjoyed our stay, spending most of our time on the small lake, fishing from the dock, canoeing or kayaking. When we weren't fishing, we were out on the large upper deck or downstairs in the screened in patio relaxing and enjoying the beautiful lake view and wildlife.
The house and amenities worked very well for us. The mattresses are old and very soft and the furnishings, kitchen and Keurig are in need of an update. The kitchen is very well appointed and had everything we needed plus more!
We spent a lot of evenings in the game room filled with fun machines but, were disappointed that some of the games; the pin ball & slot machines, were inoperable and required cash in order to play. There is also a closet full of puzzles and games so we always had some fun family rivalry going on!
The kitchen does not have a stove vent so when while cooking, we had to open the patio door and bedroom windows to vent the house, as the kitchen window handles are striped and were inoperable. There is not a screen door on the patio door, which is hard to open and close, so a few bugs helped themselves in at dinner time, but that didn't bother us - we were there to enjoy the nature.

Missi, Thank you for the review and your insights. We have stayed many nights at our place already, this is not a rental property, this is our getaway place that we also rent out. Yes, we're aware of the window cranks and sliding doors, but we've discovered those repairs will take longer to get done.
The pinball game is now operating, but we had been waiting on the previous owner for the key.
Glad you enjoyed your stay.
