About this property
Beautiful apartment with warm springs overlooking Alvord Desert and Steens Mt.
(PLEASE NOTE: We cannot host children or pets)
Calling all Writers, Artists, Birders, and Explorers! Our apartment is located on 309 acres overlooking the Alvord Desert and Steens Mt., adjacent to BLM land and surrounded by the Pueblo Mountain Range. The view from the bedroom is a gorgeous look East to the bed of the desert.
Enjoy the kitchen amenities. Bring things to cook! We have a rangetop stove, pots and pans, a toaster, coffee pot and grinder, tea pot, air fryer/oven, fridge and freezer, microwave, and ample space to store things while you're here.
You can see the view from your bed! The bathroom is gorgeous and the shower, luxurious. Please bring your own shampoo and soap.
Exploring the region:
Explore the nature of our land. BLM land is just across the boundary fence for hikes through the canyons or up to the mountains, or head out to nearby hot springs. See Borax Lake, Alvord Lake. Hike into Steens Mt Range, Trout Creek Mountain Range and the White Horse Mountain Range which are all nearby. Bring binoculars to birdwatch from your apartment or anywhere nearby. See the long horn sheep and pronghorn. Watch the deer come to eat at sunset. Dip into the warm springs just yards from the apt. Wake early for the glorious sunrise which you also see from your bed. Storm watch over the desert. Because we are surrounded by the Pueblo Mountain Range and Steens Mt. the skies are always busy with weather! No matter the weather, it's always magnificent here.
You can also bike to the mountains, across the desert, to Denio, Nevada or Idaho, if that's your thing. We have bikes you can borrow. We are 3 1/2 miles from the Fields store, home of the famous milkshake! Learn bird names. Feed the chickens. Help tend the garden here if you like. You can even book a professional deep tissue massage onsite during your visit from me, one of your hosts. Hear the frogs in the springs sing at night or the lulling song of our Great Horned Owls. Learn the songs of the coyotes. Watch the sun set over the Pueblos. Watch the moon from your bed.

About the host
Hosted by Mimi German

Welcome to our gorgeous oasis in the wilderness! We're happy to host you.
Mimi is a poet and licensed massage therapist and Jaylene is a landscape contractor. We are devoted to being stewards of this land. We've been growing food for many years up in Portland and are working on our new garden space here. Mimi has been baking sourdough bread and will share bread with you when you arrive! You'll may also have eggs from our chickens if you want them.
We have a dog, two young cats, and a bunch of chickens across the field. Soon we'll have our fruit trees in and the garden will be overflowing with food.
We're looking forward to your visit. Feel free to get in touch any time. Our phones are on from 7AM-6PM.
Thank you so much for coming.

Why they chose this property
This 'neighborhood' is actually the most incredible wilderness in the country. We live at the foothills of Steens Mountain and are surrounded by the Pueblo Mountain Range. We live among the deer, coyotes, magpies and ravens. We are greeted by the morning call of quail. The sunrise and sunsets are beyond stunning. The stars at night make you dizzy!
What makes this property unique
We have water on our land. Lots of it. There are warm springs which you are welcome to enjoy. They are a constant 86.5 degrees. We also have a natural spring pond which we use for irrigation for the fruit trees. You can see the Pueblo range surrounding us as well as Steens Mt and Alvord Peak. There is a perfect view of the desert. We watch the desert colors change with the hours of the day. Pedro Springs is gorgeous and we look forward to sharing it with you during your stay.
