About this property
An ideal quiet getaway, perfectly located between downtown and Taos Ski Valley
This updated home and guest house sit on over an acre of land and sleeps up to 10 with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with A/C and hot tub. This unique getaway is the perfect quiet vacation setting for all 4 seasons as its ideally located between Town and Taos Ski Valley.
Taos Mesa – Blueberry Hill – 4.7 miles to Taos Village, 15 miles to Taos Ski Valley
The Chattadoe Compound (formerly known as the Can-Tina la Compound) sits on over an acre of land off of the prestigious Blueberry Hill. With 360-degree panoramic views of open mesa lands and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you’ll feel like you’re surrounded by a famous painted landscape. Watch the sunrise with your morning coffee on the back covered patio and enjoy al fresco dinners near the wood burning outdoor kiva fireplace on the patio off of the dining room. Don’t miss the clear starry night view from the hot tub, it’s something you won’t want to miss.
The owners of the Chattadoe Compound consider this their second home and hope you feel the same peace and warmth here that they do. Upon entering, discover a gorgeous interior defined by southwestern wood elements, from the viga ceilings and gleaming flooring to the arches that separate the main gathering areas. Admire the postcard vistas as you relax in the living room or share meals and play games in the chandelier-lit dining area.
**Please note that the living room in the main house was designed to be a mini “sunken living room” and consequently there is a step down/up from the living room to the entry way, dining area, bedrooms and out the backdoor. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.**
THE PRIMARY BEDROOM offers a king bed with an in-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, Kiva fireplace (candles only for ease, convenience & safety).
THE FRONT BEDROOM hosts a daybed and trundle offering 2 twin beds. This room is best suited for children or adults who are happy to bunk up in a small space.
THE GUEST ROOM has a king bed that can be transformed into 2 twin beds if requested.
ADDITIONAL SLEEPING arrangements can be made with 2 pull out queen sofas located in the living room as well as the sunroom/office located off of the primary bedroom (complete with its own AC). Please note that there is no door to close off of the primary bedroom and this room will share the primary bath.
All bedrooms are complete with high-quality linens, thoughtful art and a calming atmosphere.
The Casita sleeps up to 4 people on 2 upscale luxury queen beds. Here you will find a small yet well-equipped kitchenette, additional washer & dryer, flat screen smart TV and dining table for 2. Please note that the Casita bathroom is a tiny one and includes a shower stall that might not suit everyone.
The Chattadoe Compound welcomes you in and asks you to stay a while. You’ll instantly feel that warm welcome as you walk through the door. It’s homey, clean, minimal… everything about it just feels right. It’s a place to recharge, relax, gather, laugh, breathe, sit, listen. A place you’ll instantly feel at home. it’s calm and inviting. It’s the slow you didn’t know you were craving. It’s not showy or needy. It’s bright and unruffled. It’s still and untroubled. It’s thoughtful and warm.
While we might look like a new listing, that's actually not the case! After working with a property management company for the last year, we've decided to manage the property ourselves. Here's what past travelers have said (*listings were under prior management company and property manager at time of review*):
"The house was easy to find and only 20 mins from the mountain. It was clean and in a very quite area. Only ran into a lock issue but the caretaker was on top of it. Highly recommend the rental."

"A group of eight of us traveled to Taos for a long ski weekend. The house was the perfect size for our group, and the location couldn't have been better. We would definitely stay here again!"

"One of the few places that can comfortably house a larger group in Taos. Located right on the edge of town which is convenient for getting into town and up to the Ski Valley (about 20 minutes). House itself is on a very nice property and was well appointed. The additional casita was helpful with our larger group as well. Everyone enjoyed the stay and had nothing but good things to say about the property."

Once you're booked and ready to go, we'll put you in touch with our Caretaker (or as we like to say, our extended Taos family member) who will be your go-to during your stay.
Check-in is 4PM and Check-out is 10AM. Please let us know if alternative arrangements are needed and we will try to accommodate to the best of our ability. The House and Casita are both equipped with electronic deadbolts that will issue a fresh code for each new booking. For the security of our guests and the safety of the property, an external security camera is located on the front porch of each home, parking pad and backyard.
Please note that the property does not allow pets and if this is violated, an additional $500 will be charged to cover the cost of a deep clean to allow the space to be an allergy-friendly listing.

About the host
Your host

Originally from Austin, TX, we've lived all over the United States and hold a deep love for the Mountains. Travel means so much to our family and it means the world to us to be able to share our home away from home with you.
Why they chose this property
The Chattadoe property allows you to feel far away from the tourist scene, but close enough to be a part of the action if you'd like. You're 10 minutes from downtown Taos and an easy 20 minutes from Taos Ski Valley.
What makes this property unique
The property still holds its Southwest charm, but we've updated a few things to make it a bit brighter and lighter. We hope you feel the love we've put into it. It's really something special.
